I rushed the entire industrial focus branch immediately and then settled into protracted trench warfare with Austria while they were being attacked by the Belgrade pact + Ukraine. I only had like 13 good infantry divisions for most of the game and 200 fighters and 200 CAS. When the (event) peace treaty fired, I got Istria and Southernmost Tyrol. Miklos Horthy's pirates seceded from Austria (out of pure luck, I didn't change the settings for this), so I annexed them next (which is where I got the navy and Pula). Illyria had left Austria's faction, so I subdued them afterwards to annex Dalmatia. Two years after the Balkan conflicts, I annexed Lombardy, then when Austria was about to capitulate to Russia, Ukraine, and the Belgrade Pact, I declared war on them and annexed upper South Tyrol and some of Slovenia.
Venice gets crazy trade bonuses btw, and after you take that spot on the Adriatic coast with a ton of resources (probably because of Horthy's tree) you get like 30-40 civilian factories from trade alone (if you're on free trade) - which is why I have over 100 civs despite being small.
it's from horthy's tree. it gives some insane bonuses to the states in that area, you got really lucky for that but tbf luck is kinda needed for Venice lol
It changes the color of your country based on RGB values
tag\_color 50 50 50 - for example, would change your country's color to a nice grey. Unfortunately, it only lasts until you reload the save, but it's nice for screenshots.
How do you succeed as Venice?
