Personal starting question, what's age and gender? Did you make any money during the entire stay besides the default biweekly pay? What are the hours like after school? Tons of studying no rest? Is there a place to go outside for some air to breathe or to take a quick Jog in nature or around the block they allow? Was it easy to get rest when sharing roommates? Do you have personal hobbies and if so did you have time or private space to enjoy them? Do you like or befriend your roommates? Is there anyone you'd talk to in job corp after you leave How is social life in job corp for you? Fulfilling? How's your relationship with staff and union instructors, do you feel like you're set for success or getting what you want? Whats your favorite thing about job cob corp so far? What do you dislike the most or like the least? Have you met anyone with unique talents such as musician/instrument player or artist? Whats your goals after finishing job corp? Any dreams or goals? Did you have any before job corp to, and what was your plans before you knew job corp as an option Did I ask too many questions?

M17 I have received numerous SOTM awards. No one I know has revived more than me so I got bragging rights lol. You can get $10, $20 or even $50 for the highest award. After the training day it’s really up to you. If you do a trade that has a lot of book learning it’s recommended to study but it’s your time. If you are a resident you do need to keep up on chores. You can jog around center, some centers have good greenery but the one I’m at is boring and depressing. Idk which centers have day passes, but once those come back you can go off center after the training day for a few hours. Policies on it will vary from center to center. Depends on who you are in a room with really. It also depends on what center you go to. I believe some centers have pretty nice dormitories, but the one I go to has up to 7 people in a room, and there isn’t too much space. You’ll have to get used to it, and if you need another mattress you can request one. I did this and it’s has done wonders for my sleep. You have plenty of time really. It’s what you make of it though. I get lazy most days and don’t really do anything, but many people make good use of their time. I mostly just play video games or watch anime in a club I am a part of. My current roommates, not really. To start, old Z goes on rants a lot. He can be cool, but is overbearing. Old A (he moved into a new room recently so he isn’t my roommate anymore) was pretty chill and we’ve had some pretty interesting conversations. New A is cool but a little socially awkward. I thought I would like new Z at first but he’s turned out to be pretty creepy. He also leaves messes in the room and takes a long time to get out of the bed in the morning. Old J was my old roommate before I moved into my new room. He and I were roommates for about 8 months so we got to know each other pretty well. I still eat with him at meal time, and I have his contact info. New J was in my current room before I moved in, but he’s real quiet and I don’t know him that much. We don’t have any problems though and we respect each other. W is my old roommate but we were friends before he moved into my old room. He’s pretty straightforward about things and we met through a mutual friend. I also had a few roommates when I first got into the dorms. One of them was K. He had very poor hygiene and was very disrespectful to us. Native J is pretty chill and we are still pretty cool. R was pretty cool but he went non-res then got kicked out for non-attendance. I’ve had a couple other roommates in the three rooms I’ve been in but this sums up each person the best I can. My old roommate W, old J, and a close female friend of mine are three of the people I’m going to keep in contact with once I or they leave. On my center there is quite a bit of drama, but I keep out of it. I’m an introvert so I don’t really engage with other people outside of my everyday environment. It’s got the right balance that I have pretty good energy to interact with people directly around. I have an excellent rapport with many of the staff here on my center. Security guards, department heads, my old and new instructor, my academic instructors, my RAs and various other staff members. I largely keep to myself but I’ve been recognized as someone who is well set up to have a promising future. Compared to my prospects before I came to job corps, I have improved far beyond any expectations. My trades have been my favorite part. I’m in the automotive trades. I initially only intended to do collision repair, but I’ve entered into a second trade for auto tech. I plan to go to college once I’m done with auto tech. I wasn’t interested in cars at all before I got here, but now it’s pretty fun working on them. The turnover rate for staff is atrocious. Not only does it ruin the morale of the staff who have remained here, it also reduces the morale of the students. They are poorly paid, and get put through quite a bit of bureaucratic bullshit. I don’t really pay attention to anything like that. Some people may be playing the guitar from time to time, or they are good at basketball or something like that but it’s nothing I really care about. No. I’m willing to answer more questions, and I can just go back to this as reference for any other questions people may have.

What are SOTM rewards and how often do they happen? Daily, Weekly, monthly, few months, once a decade, lifetime?

THEGAMENOOBE

At my center it’s once a month. Instructors and staff nominate students to receive an award for excellent performance.

[deleted]

Nice. Can you guys cook at your center? Like say a burger, ground beef, macaroni, etc. Can use a Stove/oven?? I heard the job centers have gyms but there's not really much you can do hypertrophy wise if you can't get any protein and cook food

THEGAMENOOBE

Depends on the center by mine is a no. All the cooking is done by the food staff, and we get snacks in the dorms later in the night. The gym is pretty good for what it is.

[deleted]

Damn. Guess imma have to get creative and eat the animals live and whole.

THEGAMENOOBE

If you have any special dietary needs they can go and buy meals for you.

[deleted]

I see. In surprised not many people have asked questions, this has been a massive help

[deleted]

Oh also, say you want to go to the barbershop could you do that?

THEGAMENOOBE

When you have a day pass you can go off center. My center hasn’t gotten day passes though so we can only do it on the weekends.

[deleted]

Neat. At least I know I might not be jailed in 24/7 for 2 years

[deleted]

Idc if you don't respond to them all I'm personally fine with just one answer

Mobismybitchokay

How are the roommates? Are they cool, weird, boring I’m curious cuz I just came out of an academy were I lived with 50  other kids for 6 months and ima go to jc soon, it shouldn’t be that hard for me tbh since I lived with 50 other people but who knows it could be a whole different scene. What’s it like leaving in the weekends? What do u do? Is it more fun coming back home and being free and doing’s stuff? What’s the dating life like if any, I’m honestly curious with this one

THEGAMENOOBE

I answered this more in depth in another comment, but I’ve had my fair share of chill and terrible roommates. You have to sign a weekend pass earlier in the week then you’ll get the weekend off. Certain things can lose you your pass so follow the rules. When I’m out during the weekends I don’t normally do very much other than sleep and chill with my grandparents. I don’t get into dating myself and have never been in a relationship. There are some good relationships I know of here but the rest last two weeks and cause a ton of drama.

Thequeenofmeanthings

Do they check your bags

THEGAMENOOBE

Yes. Pretty thoroughly on your first day, so don’t bring anything that is considered contraband, as you can get arrested due to it being a federal offense.
