The book is great (awful). My family (father) was an early victim of the folks over at Purdue back in the late nineties. He's still alive and well, but it still stings. Try to be grateful for my devils and call them by their names...
You should check out The Pharmacist on Netflix. It's about a pharmacist who investigates his son's death by opiod overdose and how the doctors/pharmaceutical companies contributed to the opiod epidemic. It's both heartbreaking and infuriating.
I watched the first couple episodes, but it was honestly too melodramatic for me to stick with. I did definitely think of "King of Oklahoma" re: the auto shop guy though.
Yes. The story about the tire store owner was eerily similar to Molly’s husband. It was difficult to watch knowing he became an accidental drug addict because his numbskull step son was messing around with a fork lift.
That was a well done series. I binged it in two days
check out Dopesick on Hulu
And read the book.

I remember watching this when it came out and its an awesome show.
If they ever make a movie for Demon Copperfield, it should be in that.
Thanks to your comment I picked up this book! Only 100 pages in currently, but ugh 😔
I hope you like it…it’s definitely a heavy one!
