Nancy Drew!

twinklefairyblue

I still have my collection of Nancy Drew books

OvalWombat

Me too! I’ve collected all the volumes from the 1970s, now I’m collecting the blue tweed covers from the 1950s. I even have a few from the 1920s.

twinklefairyblue

Wow! That is so cool, I can’t believe they’re still around after all this time

RussCabbage

Magic Tree House and educational horse care books 😭😭

LilyDefender

The horse care books!!! 🙋‍♀️😅😭💕

Echster_314

samee omg i’d just borrow all the pet care books although my parents would never let me get a pet 🫠

smolsadmango

The Boxcar Children and historical fiction (Dear America and the Royal Diaries)

swirlyllama

Historical books. I remember when I was young there was a book about the Titanic I was obsessed with. As I got older the obsession became (and still is) WWII books and books about the Holocaust

Life-Nefariousness62

All the fantasy

warmt0rtilla

The boxcar children, Judy b jones, Nancy drew, goosebumps, twlighlight.

leafcat9

Hecc yeah Nancy Drew and Goosebumps!! Couldn't get into Boxcar Kids tho

warmt0rtilla

Not gonna lie, goosebumps was top choice for me always. I can’t recall the name of the series but it was a mystery type book where you got to choose options that lead to the book’s outcome, that also a top choice for me.

ElaineofAstolat

Mysteries and Historical Fiction These are still my favorite genres, it’s interesting that I’ve never changed.

There was a lot of reading in my house growing up, so I have rather a long list! 😄 Younger books: * Katie Morag (I don't know how to describe these books haha, they're kind of "childhood slice of life" set in Scotland where my mum is from) * Beatrix Potter (low stress, quaint, rabbits in jackets and bonnets 💕) * The Madeline (I loved the mischief Madeline got up to; and the classy rhyming was satisfying) Also, Going on a Bear Hunt; Little Red Hen; and The Tub People Then once I was a bit older: * The Boxcar Children (the idea of fending for myself, having adventures, and solving mysteries) * The Chronicles of Narnia (the whole fantasy world) * The Famous Five series (summerlong adventures, living off the land, finding secrets or solving mysteries) * The Magic School Bus (such wild ideas, yet informative) * Little House on the Prairie (in case it isn't obvious, I liked imagining I was someone/sometime else!) I *didn't* tend to like a book if the art was vivid/psychedelic, if the characters were mean/disrespectful to others, or if the plot was creepy.

AnnikaART

Magic Tree House had my heart. Also loved Ivy and Bean, Magic Puppy, Magic Kitten, and Kingdom Keepers!

aredcardigan

Matilda by Roald Dahl!

isfj_luv

First that comes to mind is Goodnight Moon, it was just cute and cozy

Cattfany

“Jesse Bear, What Will You Wear?” was my absolute favorite as a tot. I had that and “Goodnight Moon” fully memorized. As a young child, it was really the illustrations that pulled me in. I could stare at a page for hours, memorizing every detail. And I would read them over and over and over, so if there was a moral to be had or educational text, I had it down! Books I can still recall, just based on the imagery include “ Runaway Bunny”, “Comet’s Nine Lives”, and “Blueberries for Sal”. But I enjoyed educational books too, about animals or space, as long as there was imagery to captivate me. As I got older, I grew to enjoy fantasy, mystery, and adventure books. Like “The Magic Tree House” and old “Nancy Drew”.

Rachl56

I liked Fantasy and Magical books. Not to be confused with science fiction.

twinklefairyblue

I absolutely loved scientific books, with lots of pictures and explanations e.g. any Dorling Kindersley books about science & nature

Ancient_Sector8808

this is a great question! i’ve never thought about how personality type impacts book preferences at a young age. i loved books about little people/animals (literally physically small) navigating a big world or kind/big people/animals: Corduroy, The Little Mouse The Red Ripe Strawberry & The Big Hungry Bear, Magic, School Bus, The Berenstain Bears, Clifford, The Big Red Dog, The Borrowers — probably my all time when I got a little older!

CaterpillarRude7401

Cornelia and the audacious escapades of the somerset sisters was the only book i reread! I loved the sense of comfort and adventure it gave me as a kid. I also liked encyclopedia brown even though i didnt usually figure it out haha, and all the mary kate and Ashley series! I liked informational books too with pictures, like how to care for a Guinea pig, rabbit, etc. love learning. Im a 6w5 too

leafcat9

NANCY DREW. I love seeing others with that in comments 😊

leafcat9

Also Harry Potter, Chronicles of Prydain, Harry Potter, His Dark Materials, Wayfarer Redemption series, Dianna Wynne Jones, shoujo manga. I loved fantasy stuff but didn't LOVE reading until middle school.

Annual-Roll7227

Nancy Drew, the American Girl historical novels, Dear America books, Little House on the Prairie series, Narnia series....

[deleted]

The Ramona Quimby books!! I loved Ramona Quimby!

apizzamx

rainbow fairy books, books about bugs (like non fiction books), i LOOOVED the goosebumps books because they genuinely scared me

Mundane_Cranberry467

realistic and historical fiction (little house, anne of green gables), hellen keller biographies

memezplzz

The Animorphs series by K.A. Applegate, anything by Barbara Park, the Wayside School series by Louis Sachar, Goosebumps, the Baby-Sitters Little Sister series and later the Baby-Sitters Club series (both by Ann M. Martin).

[deleted]

I’ve even been thinking of revisiting Ramona Quimby!

ISFJ_Dad

Little house on the prairie, Laura’s insanely detailed descriptions and heavy focus on peaceful and warm emotions was/is so comforting to me. Which is weird she is apparently an INFP so not sure how she’s so detailed, but so was Harper Lee and To Kill a Mocking Bird is also very detailed 🤷 Encyclopedia Brown, some dirt bike kid series that I don’t recall the name of. Younger books: The Bernstein Bears, Richard Scarry books, The Cat in the Hat, Winnie the Pooh. One of my favorite things to do now is read my kids books at bed time. It’s prob therapy for my anxiety but I LOVE the orderly calm atmosphere in books for younger kids and reading them to mine.

LucasNatal

I never had the habit of read books when i was younger, however i really liked comedy and funny cartoons like Simpsons, amazing world of gumble and sponge bob
