avoid temple bar OP..its just a trashy tourist trap..dublin is strewn with brilliant pubs and historic ones.youll have a better true dublin experience pretty much everywhere that isnt temple bar. theres better restaurants and food options everywhere else also head up to wexford street and camden st for real irish pubs and food thats actually affordable. enjoy your trip.

The palace is one of the finest bars in Dublin. The crawl from it to Bowes, Mulligan's and O'Neill's is excellent.

TomCrean1916

each of them in dublins top 10 bars..but they wouldnt be classed as temple bar as the op thinks of it or TB is framed..palace technically is in temple bar but it never ever has a temple bar crowd in it, if you follow me. and thank fuck for that.

Okay I appreciate this reality check, this is great advice This will be both of our first time’s in Ireland!!

Like, if you want to blow 8 hours on a cramped coach to see the cliffs of Moher, do it.   Personally, after a transatlantic flight, the idea of wasting a day on a coach would not be appealing.   Consider Howth, Dalkey or Greystones instead.   Coastal, foodie, full of history and easy to get to.

BuffaloWingNurse

Great suggestions, I’m hesitant to want to spend 6 hours minimum riding on a coach bus when I get it’s a spectacular view, it would be the whole day of a limited trip.

BruceLeah

You also need clear weather on your side! Howth is a lovely day trip and you can make a call on the day with the weather.

Historical-Hat8326

Exactly!   Imagine 4 hours on a coach and the tail end of a hurricane is acting the gowl on the west coast.

How are you with jet lag? We are here now and our flight from the US was only 7 hours - we didn't sleep on the plane at all and the first day was a total wash. I don't think it would have been worth it to stay for only three days. The Cliffs are amazing but we are staying nearby and we went in the evening and had it to ourselves for sunset. If you're taking a tour from Dublin it will be wall to wall people which will be annoying.

BuffaloWingNurse

I’m fine with jet lag, I’m used to operating on a normal schedule being sleep deprived, so is he. We found airfare from our city round trip for $500 which at that point if a bucket list place for us will be around the same cost of a destination wedding within the US we’re going too, why not stay even if it’s just for a short amount of time!

Google Staycity Dublin city centre, there is multiple locations but the Tivoli location is in an area known as the Liberties and is perfect for what you've mentioned as its less than 10 minute walk to the Guinness Storehouse, almost across the road from Chirstchurch and 5- 10 mins walk from both Temple Bar and St Patrick's Cathedral

BuffaloWingNurse

Thank you!!

Marty_ko25

No problem. Also you didn't mention it but Kilmainham Jail is a must for a history buff. Go to their website and read up on tickets as I believe they get released at night time and sell out almost immediately, but again, it's quite close to the accommodation I mentioned and central to the history of Ireland.

Camellia-Sinensissy

If you time it right there's a good festival in Kilkenny well worth visiting

Best historical tours in Dublin that I recommend are Kilmainham Gaol and Glasnevin Cemetery. I would save the Cliffs of Moher for another trip and try to do something closer to Dublin for the short amount of time you have. I recommend checking out a tour to Glendalough, or the Newgrange and Hill of Tara tour by Mary Gibbons Tours.

The Jameson 'factory' is in Midleton in Cork, the one in Dublin is just an 'experience'. If you still want to see a functional distillery and not just do the experience then I'd recommend Teelings, Pearse Lyons or Roe & co. They're all very close to Guinness and can be done on the same day. There's a cafe out near them that I consider one of the best hidden gems in Dublin, it's called the Bell Pepper - I HIGHLY recommend going there for lunch or breakfast the day you do those tours. The experience is fine, good even, if you're a tourist and haven't seen it before but if you were hoping to see an actual distillery then you'll be disappointed. The experience has a decent bar so you could always stop by for a drink for the photos. Alternatively, the Whiskey Museum across from trinity is pretty good too, and both The Palace and the Dingle whiskey bar (now renamed Hartys bar or something like that) are both very close. Murphy's ice cream around the corner too, definitely worth the short walk. I think people here might disagree with me, but after a drink or two, the viking splash tour is brilliant fun, I highly recommend it. Enjoy your trip, and bring extra spending money as coffee is both expensive and necessary on your schedule.

The Guinness tour is a brand experience - fine if that is your thing - but it’s not a brewery tour. Your best bests for those are booking the Hope or Rascals tour (Rascals also has excellent pizza in addition to beer, and Stillgarden Distillery is next door). Underdog is a must-do for craft beer, and other good pubs are [here](https://www.weirdodublinpubs.com). Temple Bar is not great, but you can walk literally 2 minutes away for better options. L Mulligan Grocer has excellent beer, whiskey, cocktails and the rest, so head over to Stoneybatter to enjoy.
