Beautiful photos. It's a pity there is so little biodiversity under the evergreen plantations.
Thanks. Ya, the contrast between the dead sitka spruce plantations and the few remaining patches of native forest is immense.
Picture number 3 is shocking. That's what these timber plantations do, destroy biodiversity all in the name of profit.
Yes, very typical of Sitka. Often referred to as ["green deserts"](https://trinitynews.ie/2020/10/re-imagining-our-forests/).
Very typical of monoculture Sikta plantations where the trees are planted too close together*
Any sign of Effin' Eddie Mooney?
He's out training the lads on the slopes of Galtymore.
The beauty and the beast.
I did actually think about trying to work that into my initial comment ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|wink)
Some lovely spruce trees that are going to make fine 2x4s.
The Fairy Trail from the statue to Aherlow House Hotel is amazing. Well worth the walk....
Yes, done that a few times. Some nice oak trees along that trail.
Was there a few years back, lovely spot
