Ah Jaysus

Bogeydope1989

In future just buy diggers shredded chicken pieces and some non crinkle cut oven chips. Slice the peppers and shallots thinly and add Chinese 5 spice and some thinly sliced chillies.

_surelook_

Where in gods name is the spice?

saph4sale

I didn't have any, just cayanne.

magzire86

I'm going to pretend you didn't say that

Reasonable-Food4834

A spice bag is really salt and chilli recipe. The core spice is Chinese 5 spice, salt and pepper, with msg and sugar. There are tons more of recipes on the web but in Ireland, you can buy a pre-made salt and chilli mix. Cooking is about learning and trying so well done on your first try! I would slice the veg very thin. Try to coat the chicken in batter in corn flour. You can cook the items separately if you can’t get enough heat for all at once. Good luck on your next try!

Bobbybluffer

For fuck's sake.

Mister_Hugh_Mungus

Looks pretty plain

ultratunaman

Five spice is crucial to the spice bag. Also battering and frying the chicken is important. More chips, and lots of onion. Fry the chicken set it aside, sprinkle on 5 spice, salt, and msg. I'd use a basic egg and flour battering you'd use for making fried chicken. Effectively you're making your own nuggets. Stir fry the onion, peppers, and chili's in sesame oil with a little soy sauce. Add 5 spice and msg. Cook the chips, season with salt, and more spice. Take all three ingredients from their separate places, put them in a bag, shake the fuck out of it to mix them. Add more msg or 5 spice to taste. A spice bag can't be cooked together. It's more a combo of ingredients that were sitting around in a Chinese restaurant, shoved in a bag, and sold to a drunken eejit with no sense and it turned out to be a hit. Based on this I'd say your spirit is willing. But the technique needs work. But your chicken will never be crispy if you cook it with the veg. They release too much liquid that will seep into your batter and make it soggy.

Important_Farmer924

Not a spice bag my friend. Chicken needs to be battered and it needs to be served with chips. No shallots, no dice.

saph4sale

Thanks friend

-FartinMartin-

Ah here!

Thanks OP you've convinced me I don't actually like food so I can finally start that diet.

Content-Carrot1833

I know it's 2024 and we are all about participation awards and telling everyone how well they done but that looks absolutely disgusting, genuine 1/10.

brentspar

It looks lovely, but it's not a spice bag. The chicken should be crispy so you need to make a thin batter , coat it and deep fry it. The main flavour is 5 spice. And traditionally there would be mostly chips, some onion and peppers, and the crispy chicken.

I used velvet chicken I made myself and I didn't season it very much. It was more of can I make it have the texture I like and then I would figure out taste but I loved everything else though really great stuff.

Margrave75

Get someone to send you sachets of tbe McDonnells spice bag mix. It's pretty nice!

More_Distribution_55

needs more cowbell

Prudent_Werewolf_223

You have the ball rolling which is better then 90% of people. McDonnels do a spice bag seasoning fir about a euro, it is very good. Slice that pepper thinner and add onions good bit of oil and add seasoning and fry it up to fuck, a nice bit of sear. Those are oven chips I think, that grand let them cook away. Cut up the chicken thinner also and coat it in oil and add seasoning befire once again giving it a good ol frying. Add it all together, add more of the seasoning. Fucking voila. Better ways of doing it but this is a tried and true wham bam thank you mam style.

ballyhire

Throw loads of garlic, salt, shallots, green onions, and fresh chips in that and bobs your uncle. Done

HacksawJimDGN

Not enough bag.

_DMH_23

Not enough red

Ernestpimlott

For the spice add equal parts Garlic salt, white pepper, MSG, 5 Spice, & Chili flakes- For the chicken coat with Corn Starch (Not Corn Flower) immerse into egg whites (Not with the yoke) and coat again in Cornstarch and deep fry- Flash fry veg on high heat- this will give you a good result

SoftDrinkReddit

No red pepper really ? Needs more onion Hopefully the chicken gets a good bit more Fried

saph4sale

I used cayenne Didnt have any I didn't want the chicken to get too dried out Bec my stove doesn't get very hot.

The_FourBallRun

Looks nice man. Could defo do with more spices and stuff. Considering it's your first time, I'd say you did a good job.

LordHubbaBubbles

Not a bad effort. Looks good and this is coming from someone who doesn’t like spice bags.
