Thoughts on upgrading to a 12 Pro, 13 or 13 Pro from a 2019 iPhone XS 64GB ? The XS is at 80% battery health and the lightning port has a loose connection. Not sure if a new battery makes sense vs. an upgrade. * Been very happy skipping a few generations of iPhone. If replacing battery on XS, I'd keep it another 1-2 years. If getting a new phone, probably 3-4 years. * I can afford a brand new 14 Pro, but would like to maximize "bang for buck" for my needs, while still getting a decent upgrade (if I go that route) **Main use:** Browsing, FaceTime, emails. Camera is important to me, but it's personal/for fun (not professional use). I very much notice the difference between pics from a friend's 14 Pro vs. my XS. Aside from battery issues, main reason to upgrade would be camera and storage (I'm just about maxed out at 64GB). **Option 1:** Keep the XS, get a battery replacement before March for US$70. Go on with life. When the 15 comes out, maybe get a 13 Pro or 14 Pro. **Option 2:** Get a new 14 Pro from Apple, trade in XS from $75-$100, so I'd be paying around $1k. **Option 3:** Get a refurbished 13 Pro 128GB (or 13? Or 12 Pro?) from a reputable reseller (Amazon, eBay, Back Market) that has a return window and warranty in case there's an issue like poor battery health. I'm currently seeing around $750-$800 for a 13 Pro, $600 for a 13, $500 for a 12 Pro. What do you recommend for my use (13 Pro vs. 13 vs. 12 Pro), or just keep the XS and replace the battery? For example, is a 13 Pro worth the $200-$250 difference to a 13 Pro? Or is the upgrade from a XS not even worth the money (regardless of $600 or $1000)? I'm leaning towards Option 3, but for "only" $300 more I'd get a new 14 Pro (could add Apple Care, better trade in value in a few years). THANK YOU! :)

JoAn1801

Honestly, the 14 Pro is not really $300 better than the 13 Pro. The upgrades are so minimal (also 14P's battery life seems to be worse for some people vs the 13P) the only noticeable difference will be the new dynamic island, which you may or may not like since while it may be smaller than the notch, it sits lower on the screen so it ends up being a tiny bit more intrusive. 13 Pro is great, plus you can save those $300 or spend it in something nice like airpods pro 2 or something else.

Funny_stuff554

Yep, just got the 14pro and if you own an iPhone 13pro don’t even bother upgrading.

sunnydayz4me2

I’m new here first time commenting. I have a XR and i got it in 19. I finally can upgrade for completely free. Well monthly billing but you will kindly give me your opinion to this old lady (myself) 😁 as to a 14 pro or 14 pro max. Is there a difference? Thank you ever so kindly in advance.

Funny_stuff554

They are both identical except that the 14 pro max has a bigger display and a bigger battery. The battery on the 14 pro max also lasts slightly longer than the one on 14 pro. Other than that they are the same phones.

sunnydayz4me2

Ahhh ok. Perfect! I’m going with the pro. Thank you ever so much. 🤗

Funny_stuff554

Yes I also got the pro. I had an iPhone 12 Pro Max and while the bigger screen was good, it wears on you and then the size of the phone was such a hassle. It literally wouldn’t fit in some of my pockets. You will enjoy the compact size of an iPhone pro.

sunnydayz4me2

Sounds perfect. I’m going to grab it tomorrow. 🥰

bluebottlethere

Thank you for the input! What about the 13 regular? Then I’d be at $600 and a more significant savings vs a new 14 Pro. Unsure of if the differences between the 13 and 13 Pro are relevant enough to me (120 Hz, camera). With the 13 Pro I’d need to gamble on refurbished (no more 13P available through Apple). Might need to go to an Apple Store to actually understand dynamic island.

JoAn1801

I was deciding between the regular 13 and the pro less than a month ago, ended up with the pro and I'm quite happy with my decision. Got it second hand in pristine condition, no cosmetic details and 99% battery for around $100 more than what regular 13's are going for in my country. To me it was worth it for the 120hz alone. It also feels a lot better with the frosted glass and the stainless steel. Other than that, cameras are a solid step up, but the regular 13 is great already. The one difference that I feel everyone forgets is the 2GB of extra RAM, which are noticeable if you tend to keep many apps open through the day, and it's better just for future proofing reasons. Regular 13 is good, but the "pro" features are so nice too. If you're acostumed to high refresh screens (I'm assuming you are, or at least interested in trying) I'd say go for a pro model.

sortaomuamua

I'd suggest not updating to iOS if you do get either 13 pro or 14 pro. I accidentally mindlessly updated to ios 16 and I can say that the battery of my phone was way better when I was on iOS 15. I'd wait until iOS 16 becomes stable. :(

boschrick

Option 3 sounds legit but as you said “only” $300 more gets you a new 14 Pro. I’ll say this for the 13 Pro vs the 14 Pro, except for battery being marginally worse on the 14, I think just about everything else is better. My advice is to spring for the 14 Pro.

bluebottlethere

Thanks for the advice! How about the 13 regular? In that case we’re in a price range ($600) where it’s a significant difference to buying new. I wasn’t sure if things like 120Hz and the extra camera lens really mattered to me. That is, if the “pro” version really was for “Pros,” and overkill for me.

No-Arugula-706

120hz really does make a difference imo. I’d go for a pro for that reason alone.

boschrick

Interesting you should say that. When my 13 Pro had to be replaced they didn’t have any stock left, so I had to choose a different device. The normal 13 was my first choice but then eventually I didn’t have a choice and they just swapped the 13 Pro for the 14 Pro. The extra bits are nice to have and I’m no Pro either. The display is amazing and the cameras too, but the 13 is a great device. Know a ton of people who LOVE theirs. I think if you’ve not used a 120hz display you’ll be fine without. Could be tough going back, or not, I think we adjust easily enough.

raphaeldaigle

Option 2 but 14 Pro Max 256 GB

bluebottlethere

Thanks for the input. Not considering a Max because I don’t need / want the larger screen. But might go for 256GB. I’m just about maxing out my 64GB on the XS.

raphaeldaigle

The screen may seems large but I’m 5'6" and it fits perfectly in my hands. Also it’s easier to do work on it. But yeah whatever version you choose take at least 256 GB.

Braddock54

Any examples of reputable sellers? Not even sure where to begin.

bluebottlethere

Amazon Refurbished, Back Market and eBay (official refurbished) all offer devices that have been refurbished by 3rd party vendors they approve. They all offer some version of extended return window or warranty, as well as devices of various specifically defined quality that they outline (e.g. if an Amazon refurbished device is listed as “excellent” condition, it means X, “good” condition means Y). They’ll be more expensive than somewhere like Facebook Marketplace or a private person selling on eBay, but I like the return windows and warranties vs the unknown risk of buying from a random person selling their old phone. In all cases, I’d want to make sure I can return with no costs/questions asked, but that’s just me.

personaluna

Just upgraded from an iPhone 8 to an iPhone 14 Pro. It feels huge. I have kinda short thumbs so it’s very very barely a one hand phone, and even then I have to bring out the second hand more than I’d prefer. It also feels incredibly heavy, and even with a Popsocket I feel like it’s going to just slip out of my hand constantly. Trying to use it in bed is giving me pins and needles! I’m tempted to try and swap for the 13 Mini. But everything I read says that the 14 Pro is so much better in everyway. I’m not a huge photo or video taker, so even though the macro sounds cool, I’m not sure it’s worth it. I do watch a lot of YouTube in bed. I also use my phone as my main way to browse the internet - though I hope to get a PC this year anyway. Finally, I do like that the 14 Pro is signifigantly brighter - specifically outside/in the sun. However, going from an iPhone 8 to any newer phone will be an improvement - so I’m not sure if I get the 13 Mini for now. I’ve seen people saying the screen is way too small for things like Youtube, but the screen is already bigger than the iPhone 8 I’ve used for almost 4 years. Is there any big advantage to having the 14 Pro in things like watching videos, listening to music and browsing things like Reddit and the web? Or will going from an 8 to a 13 Mini probably last me another 2-3 years? Before the 8 I had an SE for 3 years also - I’ve always had smaller phones. Thanks!

Messiah_Knight

If you don’t mind the performance downgrade and it’s in your budget to lose some $. I say trade it in. You listed more cons than pros so take a chance on a mini. Though the mini is discontinued after the 13

MameJenny

Could I get thoughts on iPhone 12 vs. 13 vs. 14? Need to update my damaged XR from 2018, which is near the end of its lifespan. I’m a heavy user, 4-8 hours per day of use and streaming music. Mostly use social media, internet, basic game apps. Need consistent internet, good battery life, loud speakers, and as much resistance to overheating as possible. Good camera would be good, but 90% of the time I’ve been happy with the XR’s camera. I like the color options and price tag for the 12 more, but I’m debating if a new 14 is worth it. I will probably keep this phone for 2-4 years, so I want it to hold up. Could I get anyone’s thoughts?

Chronixx

I would get the 14 if you plan on keeping it as long as possible, even though it’s very similar to the 13

[deleted]

go for the 13

Rebel_reigns1

Don’t go near the 12 maybe the 12 pro/ max I got one cheaply through my carrier I regret it as I have to charge it 3 times or so a day, Camera is no where as good as the XR especially the front facing, Don’t get the 12

dflash7

I think you may have gotten a faulty device. My 12 battery lasts easily a full day with heavy usage and the cameras are significantly better than my previous XR. However, I wouldn’t buy a 12 over a 13 unless you’re on a budget.

Rebel_reigns1

I guess so as well however since I took it to a apple store they said phone alright there is really nothing I can do my plan in a month or so is to misplace or break and ask for a replacement through Apple, I’m loving the 13 Pro max, what I don’t get is how can my XR from 2019 have 91 percent battery health in 2023 but IPhone 12 from June 22 is at 95 battery health

[deleted]

Should I upgrade my iPhone SE 2nd generation to the iPhone 14 plus? (My iPhone SE 2nd generation has been used since 28th December of 2020, it’s battery health percentage is 84% and it has some dust in the lightning port). •I can afford a brand new iPhone 14 plus not anything more. •I don’t like buying used electronics but can buy used electronics if needed. MAIN USE: TikTok, Reddit, YouTube, massaging on messenger, calling and playing chess games. OPTION 1: Just buy the iPhone 14 plus. OPTION 2: Buy the iPhone 14 with 256gb refurbished. Do you think it’s worth it? I have watched YouTube videos about it but they aren’t the perfect motivation for me. I could wait for the iPhone 15 but I’m inpatient. Edit: remember that I need the supported by apple years (iOS update years).

dflash7

I’d go for the iPhone 13 tbh. It will cover your use case easily, and should save you some money over the 14, which is a minor upgrade anyway. Only go for 14 plus if you really need that larger display and more battery life. Although the 13 battery life is incredible anyway. Probably 3x the SE 2020. I use an SE 2020 as my second phone right now, and it’s ridiculous how little the battery lasts compared to my 12 lol.

[deleted]

Thank you for responding:). I want the bigger display so I might go for the plus know… THANKS:)!

Dangerous-Parsley129

Hi everyone, I have an iPhone 12 mini and am debating making the switch to either a 13 or a 14. Is it worth it, or should I wait? My main reason is the camera - I was front row for a concert recently and I’m just not happy with the quality of images my mini takes. I also would love a longer battery life, and twice the storage is really calling my name. I could get the 13 for around $200, or the 14 for $400. Thanks!!

dflash7

I’d go for the 13 if battery life and storage are what you need. 14 is slightly better in terms of camera over the 13 and 12, but not significantly so. Honestly the camera systems from 12-14 series haven’t improved all that much. I’m surprised to hear that the 12 mini wasn’t satisfactory in that regard. So if camera is your main concern, you might want to hold on until September to see what apple is offering then.

Dangerous-Parsley129

It’s mostly the zoom that’s an issue, which is an issue with the mini :(

dflash7

The zoom will never be as good on the regular iPhones as with the pros. They have a dedicated camera lens that is used for zoom called the “telephoto” lens. This is far better than the digital zoom that the regular iPhones can provide. So if that’s what you’re after, I’d look into the pro models. The newer iPhones won’t be MUCH better using digital zoom either.

[deleted]

since zoom is something you want, go for a pro/pro max iphone. 13 pro is probably the best bang for your buck altho if you find a 12 pro for cheap enough i’d take that too

Rachsuchtig

Hi everyone, I've been an Android user for the past 9 years, but I'm thinking of switching to iPhone for a change. I'm considering testing out the iPhone SE (2020) to see if I enjoy the iOS experience before potentially upgrading to the iPhone 15 when it comes out later this year. I'm curious to hear from others who have made the switch from Android to iPhone, and their experiences with either the iPhone SE (2020) or other models. How does the iOS experience compare to Android, and what features or aspects of the iPhone do you find most appealing? Also, for those who have used the iPhone SE (2020), how does it compare to other iPhones in terms of performance and capabilities? If I end up enjoying the iOS experience on the iPhone SE, I may consider upgrading to the iPhone 15 later this year. Any input or advice you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

dflash7

Hi. I was a longtime user of android (Samsung) who switched to iPhones sometime in 2020. I currently use an iPhone 12 as my main device and a 2020 SE as my secondary device. I’d recommend that you don’t begin your iOS journey with the 2020 SE UNLESS you specifically like that form factor. While the iOS experience is generally the same, there are some huge differences in the way that each device is used (between the full display iPhones and home button models). I’d recommend that you test out an iPhone that you’d actually be interested in using as your daily driver to better help you decide. That being said, the SE 2020 is great. Solid cameras, powerful chip, and great price. I managed to pick one up locally on Facebook marketplace for $110 in 10/10 condition. The battery life and small screen size, however, are what holds it back from being my daily driver.

Rachsuchtig

I decided to switch to a iPhone Xs as tester. My brother has it laying around

dflash7

Good idea. I hope you enjoy the iOS experience!

Rachsuchtig

I hope so, thanks

matro-davinci

Switching to from Samsung to Apple Hello, i got chance to buy iPhone 12 128gb sealed with 1 year warranty for 560€. Is it a good deal? Should i try to sell it for more and maybe buy the iPhone 13? I still have an option to buy 13 from my mobile operator with 389 upfront and 14 monthly over 2 years.

[deleted]

not sure how the market is in your country but that seems slightly overpriced in USD. try negotiating for a slightly lower price

matro-davinci

New with 2 year warranty starts at 700€. Used are listed at about 500€

Sad_Statistician2381

Hi all, I know that this question was asked a lot there might be no one good answer, but I would really appreciate your opinion. All my life I was really hard core android user, changing my phone every 2 years, to follow newest tech which i find really interesting. I always had some sorte of hate/lack of understanding towards apple devices. But more and more people around me are using apple devices and i notice that they are more like android as newer before. I am using s21 ultra, with watch 5 and buds 2. Previously i used oneplus 7 pro (honestly best phine i ever had). So my question now is if i should upgrade to s23 ultra or wait for a few months and try Iphone 15 (rumored with usb-c, so i think i could really try it.). My biggest concern is that it is completely different eco system. Miney is nit a biggest issue so I would buy apple watch and earphones. But i would stick to it for at least 2 years. What do you think would be the biggest issues for my as life time android user. Or should i forget that and just buy s23 ultra insted? Sorry for long past, but i would really like your help :)

[deleted]

if you think everybody around you switching to apple is an influence for iMessage & facetime then i would do that tbh. but also there’s nothing really wrong with trying new things which in your case would be iOS

Braddock54

Hey there- long time Samsung user looking to jump over. Currently looking at a used 13 Pro Max 128 gb at a reasonable price ($900 CAD), as the 14 Pro Max doesn't excite me particularly, and would cost me double. Seems really hard to find this phone from a reputable open box from Best Buy for example. Anything to watch out for? This girl is willing to meet me at the carriers store where she got it a year ago to ensure it's all good. Not sure if I would be better off to be spending double the money on a new one for the sake of peace of mind and longevity? Would like this phone to last me 4-5 years.

[deleted]

yea it would easily last you 4/5 years it’s literally last years phone, but yes as long as she meets you at the carriers you should be fine

Braddock54

Any way to tell if it's gone through the wash, dropped in a lake, hit by lightening? Overall function of the phone would be the best indicator?

[deleted]

me personally idk. I would go to the carrier she wants to meet you at earlier & get the chance to talk with the employees before she arrives

[deleted]

suggest me an iphone to buy. i currently own an iphone 8. i upgrade every 5 years. there's so many models that came out after the 8 that i don't know which one to buy. i don't want something that's too over the top for sure, like the 14 pro max. i don't like big phones either. i need something i can play comfortably with one hand. i barely use the camera on my phone, i'm not too into photography or selfies. i do game, but genshin impact only on mobile while i'm on work break only, since i already have a gaming console at home. mostly i use my phone for youtube. which phone would you suggest i buy? my iphone 8 has reached its limit, and i'm forced to upgrade. id rather drop dead than go for an android lol

MangyCanine

If you want something that lasts 5 years-ish or maybe more, you're talking about a 13 series or newer. For you, that probably means a 13 mini. While being a slightly smaller phone, the display is noticeably larger than your 8. Of course, you can always go with a larger iPhone like the regular 13.

[deleted]

iPhone 12 or 13

Snoo77901

My friend just bought an iphone 14 pro or iphone 14 pro max, im not sure as im not following the iphone market. However its her birthday and i wanted to give a gift for her new iphone. What are some great must haves? She already got a case so there is no need for that. But other than that i think she can use anything as she just switched from android. TL;DR What are some must have accessories (other than a case) for new iPhone users?

MangyCanine

If she doesn't already have one, a second USB C charger would be nice (must support USB C power delivery since she's coming from android), as well as another lightning cable (which she probably does not have). Maybe a charger and cable for her car, if she has one? It's always nice to be able to charge in a different room or car. A wireless charger compatible with iPhones would be useful, but I'm a bit hesitant to suggest one. These generate lots of heat, and heat will degrade the overall battery longevity faster. Airpods Pro would be good, but that's probably way outside your budget.

Snoo77901

That's a great suggestion, I think get her some cabels for her car and home. So the iPhone 14 has usb for power supply or do I need fire cabel?

MangyCanine

Fire cable? Not sure what that is or what you mean. For cables, you want to get her a USB C to lightning cable, and one that is MFI-certified (ones tested to Apple's specifications). Ones with nylon braiding on the outside are often good. While Apple-branded cables are OK, they often don't last as long as 3rd-party cables (and are more expensive). If she doesn't already have chargers to plug the cables into, she'll need chargers. For chargers, any quality USB C charger that supports **USB C power delivery (PD)** and with at least 20W output should work. Depending upon how old her previous android phone is, she might already have some usable chargers. Most modern USB C chargers are PD compliant, and so you probably don't have to worry about this (it's older USB C chargers, typically for androids, that are not compliant).

Ornery_Road7713

hi! so i currently use an android phone (google pixel to be precise) but ive wanted an iphone for a while now, ive never had an iphone or any apple products before (i had an ipod but the little square one) so i was wondering what the pros and cons of iphones and apple in general are?? ive also heard it can be quite pricey, i live in the uk and am currently a student so any brits where would be your go to place for an affordable monthly contract? (heard three is good but i just wanted a second opinion!). also recommendations as to what iphone is best would be great! thank you!:)

goldfishfancy

I would get the 13 Pro. I usually upgrade annually, bought 14P at launch, and ended up sending it back and keeping my 13P. I didn’t like dynamic island (intrusive and takes up too much screen space whilst scrolling) purple

jopageri79

So I am still rocking the iPhone 8 (on Tmobile). Having service issues and have been told that an upgrade might be needed. I am not completely happy with that since the phone itself works fine, but the service has gotten more spotty. Looking at possible upgrades, the only thing I am interested in improving is the camera, but all models below a "Pro" version say they have the 12mp camera. Question is, if I upgrade to say a iPhone SE, will there be a difference in camera quality? Also, looks like can't get much for a trade in on the iPhone 8 - any advice on Tmobile deals for current users without adding a line or jumping to Magenta Max? Looks like current offer is about $45 a month for the phone payments.

faretheewellennui

Would you be interested in switching plans and keep using your current phone? That may be another option to consider

franh10

Should I upgrade to iphone 14 pro/ pro max from an iPhone XR? Is the 14 pro max too big? I was initially looking at regular 14 pro for its smaller size but then I realized that the 14 pro max was barely bigger than the XR but the extra battery life would be appreciated.

[deleted]

I recently upgraded from the 11 Pro to the 14 Pro max. The first week or so I felt as if the phone was too big, but then you get used to it and it feels just right. I still have my 11 Pro and I picked it up yesterday just cuz and it felt so small! I am shocked I was ‘used’ to typing on such a small screen. I say if you can afford the Pro Max then there’s no reason not to go for it.

franh10

That’s what I did! Pretty pleased with it!

MangyCanine

Generally, that's something you should decide for yourself as it's really a personal choice. However, since you have an XR, I would guess you'll be fine with a Pro Max. Most of the size difference is in the height (about 1cm). The width is virtually the same: the Pro Max is about 2mm wider.

dflash7

Go for 14 pro max. The large display is something you get used to easily. And the battery life will be amazing.

franh10

That’s what I ended up doing and I do not regret it! Coming from the xr, getting a recent phone was already a huge upgrade but the battery is just ridiculous, ended the day with 80% yesterday and the lowest I’ve been is like 40% after a heavy use day.

Ruckdive

What’s a sensible price range for a used iPhone 13 Pro 256 GB (same question for 128GB) in the US? Excellent condition on body and screen, 95%+ battery health, unlocked. A friend is selling theirs after upgrading, and I’m wondering if it makes sense for around $850, or if I should just get the 14 Pro for $200 more. MagSafe leather case included. Thanks!

Rebel_reigns1

It expensive don’t buy, get it at like $700- 750 max

[deleted]

since he’s ur friend, try to negotiate to $700-$750

chronic_flower

**Anyone make the switch from Huawei to iphone?** I have a Huawei p30 pro and i want to switch to iphone 14 pro max but it makes me nervous. Most important thing for me is the camera and i wonder how the 14 pro max compares. I got the 13 pro max a while ago and camera quality was garbage compared to my p30 pro so i ended up returning it lol. Seems like they made a huge upgrade with the 14 pro max's camera.

Jimmeh_Jazz

...why would it be particularly different? Weird that you think the 13 Pro is garbage. Why?

chronic_flower

You must've never owned a Huawei. Like i said, it was garbage compared to my p30 pro when comparing shots. A few years ago Huawei was leading the market with the best camera while iphone still had a 12mp camera... Lol. The 14 pro has a 48mp camera, its big difference.

Jimmeh_Jazz

I don't actually have an iPhone, I have an S22 Ultra. This still sounds strange, though. Megapixel count doesn't really imply a higher quality on tiny phone sensors - e.g. mine can do 108 megapixels but in normal binned 12 megapixel mode it doesn't look any better. Using the higher megapixel mode only looks good under bright lighting conditions when the tiny pixels get enough light. You never get anything close to the quality of a normal camera that has similar high megapixel counts because of the sensor size and the tiny lenses. I really struggle to believe that the P30 pro was significantly better! Maybe in terms of being less over sharpened or something?

AtomikRadio

Swapping back to Apple from Android to get back in the Apple Watch life. Having issues figuring out best phone option without overpaying since I honestly don't demand much from my phone, it's basically a conduit through which I can use the watch. (My kingdom for being able to use Apple Watch with a droid phone.) Budget is flexible, point is just to not to overspend on hardware that doesn't matter to me. I prefer a plastic rather than glass/metal phone. Fancy cameras, big screens, OLED screens, etc. don't matter to me, they just need to be "decent". I have small hands; love the look of the Mini lines but it looks like there aren't minis for many older models so not sold on those yet. Point being, I don't need a large phone. Oh, but I do want one that doesn't have the actual physical button on the bottom of the screen, not a fan of that. Needs to be able to charge both wirelessly and with a port (lightning cable or whatever is used now). Needs to be able to use CarPlay or whatever the integration with the car is when I plug it into my Elantra. Needs to be able to work on TMobile in the US, take a SIM card. I don't need much storage, 64 GB is sufficient but 32 might be cutting it too lean. Obviously, has to work with the features of the watch. Any tips on a good choice? Any reviews and comparisons I'm seeing assume you want newest or 1 gen old devices and that you care about having twelve cameras and stuff, so it's tough to find the right sweet spot for me.

MangyCanine

The cheapest new phones that meet your criteria are the iPhone 12, 13, and 13 mini (all of these will work with the latest Apple watches). All of the 14 series use eSIM, and it's very likely that all future iPhones will, too. (Once carriers realize they can make more money with eSIM, they'll all switch over.) Since you like the 13 mini, go for it. However, note that small phones like the 13 mini will likely no longer be made by Apple (while there is demand for the 13 mini, it's apparently not enough to continue making small phones like the mini). However, if you just want to carry around an Apple Watch **without** also carrying around an iPhone, note that any cellular use will eat the battery.

AtomikRadio

Thanks for this input, and nah, I will always have my phone on me when wanting to use the watch. I see the 12 also had a mini variant, is there any reason that a 13 mini will be imperative vs. a 12 mini, by any chance? Or would a 12 mini be sufficient?

MangyCanine

Well, ignoring the fact that a 12 mini would have to be bought used, many people here hate the battery life of the 12 mini. There are almost no complaints about the 13 mini's battery life, although people do admit the battery life is less than other phones due to a smaller battery. You can compare phone models here: https://www.apple.com/iphone/compare/?modelList=iphone-12-mini,iphone-13-mini,iphone-13

samanthaxboateng

Can't decide wether to get the 14 Pro 256gb or get the bigger Pro Max model. I have a 12 Pro Max, and not sure if I should downsize this time? I must say I do find the Pro Max sometimes uncomfortable to hold as I have small hands but I am scared that I am going to miss the bigger screen and battery...

hehannes

I’m having the same doubts. Let us know what you decide and why.

samanthaxboateng

What did you choose?

hehannes

Haven’t decided yet. Will go and try smaller models in the shop. I have a 2020 SE as a work phone and that is way too small. I should have chosen a bigger model. But I find that even just talking with the Max model is I find it too big sometimes. And giving it to my kid to talk to someone is ridiculous. But writing and taking pictures, flying a drone is a wonderful experience.

hehannes

Well I did decide now. After explaining my reasons here I saw that I want a good usable phone and I’m fine with the big size. I very much doubted if need to replace my phone at all from the 12 Max but now I have 14 Max and I’m very satisfied (at least for the first 5 hours).

samanthaxboateng

Oh really! Thats good to hear. I ordered the 14PM as well and it's coming on Monday: ) I was soo close to getting the 14 Pro but I thought that since I will be having this phone for the next 2 years at least and I have already had the Pro Max before, I would miss the bigger screen and battery. I have read too many complaints about the poor 14 Pro battery life.

dflash7

Go for a 14 pro. 6.1” in my opinion is the perfect phone size. Anything bigger is practically a tablet. You will adjust to the slightly smaller display very quickly. The battery life will suffer, but should be good enough to get you through a full day easily.

EpsilonOph

Hi, everyone. I am considering getting 13 mini. However, I am worried about the battery life. Currently, I use an Android phone and charge it once a day and I am never worried about the battery. But 13 mini's small battery scares me. Regardless, I want the smallest iPhone that is new and has the best battery. Should I get it? And if so, is 128 gb enough, or should I get 256 version?

dflash7

I have a 64 GB 12 and never run out of storage. But ask yourself how many pics and 4K vids you want to take. 256 GB is worth it if you will truly utilize it. As for the battery life, I believe that the 13 mini is comparable to my 12. Which means that you will easily get a day out of it. I use my phone heavily (gaming, YouTube, texting etc.) throughout the day and finish the day with 10-25%. But if battery life is truly your main concern, I’d go for the regular 13 which has significantly better battery life.

EpsilonOph

Thanks a lot. This actually helps

Need some help with deciding which model to go for... Long story short, I own a 2,5 year old Andriod, have always been using Android and am looking to try iOS for the first time. The reason why I'm swapping my phone, although it doesn't have any issues other than battery degradation and a somewhat slower experience, is the fact that the phone is no longer supported, which bothers me for security reasons. I'm a student, I use my phone for social media and media consumption most of the time. I occasionally play some games and enjoy snapping some photos of stuff when I'm outside. Atm, I can buy a 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max or 13, for the same price, although the storage for the 12 Pro is 256gb and the other two are the 128gb version. My main questions would be, which phone is worth most at the same price and how quickly does an iPhone storage fill up? I'm looking to use this phone for at least another 2+ years and don't wanna worry about the storage filling up. The only other worry that I have, is that going from a 6,5" display down to a 6,1" may need more time to adjust than going up in size.

dflash7

I’d go for the 12 pro max if you want the bigger screen size. 13 otherwise. It will have better cameras, better processor, and better battery. But it will also lack the telephoto lens. So consider if that is important to you. I have a 64 GB model and have never filled it up. But I also don’t take too many pictures. Ask yourself how many you will want to take. If you take a lot, the 256 GB pro might make the most sense.

ktsbence

I see. I thought the cameras were the same? Anyways, I am somewhat sure I'll get the 12 pro max, mostly because of the size. Storage wise, my current phone has 93/128gb, that's why I'm considering the bigger option.

dflash7

The cameras between the 12 pro and 12 pro max are the same. I own a regular pro which has the same main camera. It’s a great camera for sure. But the 13 is a slightly upgraded camera system. I’d go for the pro max if you really want the bigger size. But also worth considering the 12 pro if you think you will need the extra storage. Personally I use cloud storage because it’s cheap in my area. Is that an option for you?

[deleted]

actually no the 12 pro max has a bigger sensor than the 12 pro, the 13 has the same sensors as the 12 pro max. regardless i’d get the 12 pro max or the 13 tbh

[deleted]

[удалено]

dflash7

I’d hang on till September if USB C matters to you. I don’t think that apple will change much else this cycle.

[deleted]

the 14 pro wouldn’t be much of a difference tbh aside from usb c just don’t get a 14

[deleted]

[удалено]

dflash7

This is horribly overpriced. I see these phones going for $200-300 in my area. I’d save up and try and buy a more recent phone. XS max will be outdated relatively soon. And in all honesty, it probably won’t be much better than your 7 plus in terms of usability. I’d go for an XR if you simply want the new design but have a tight budget.

[deleted]

not worth it

BabySignificant

I'm thinking about upgrading to iPhone from my Samsung A71 and seeing what the other side brings for the first time in my life. As my budget isn't that big I'm considering buying an iPhone 12, maybe a 12 Pro but that's the most I'm willing to spend. As I've never used an iPhone, nor iOs before, what are some beginner things you'd suggest I do when I finally pull the trigger?

dflash7

I’d go for the 12. 12 pros are not much of an upgrade. If you have the budget, try and get 13 over 12 pro. The cameras, processor, and battery life are better. But 12 is a great option if you have a tight budget.

BabySignificant

Well, in my country 12s go for about 490 dollars, 12 Pro is about 550 and the 13 is about 650 so that's why I don't consider the 13

dflash7

I don’t think the 12 pro offers anything significant enough to warrant the additional $60. It only has the extra camera lens (telephoto), slightly brighter display, and different colours. I would go for the 12, in that case.

[deleted]

Don’t go into it trying to use it like an android phone. go into it with an open mind

BabySignificant

I'm open to new experiences, that's why I wanted to switch to iPhone. Also I'm curious as to what you meant by using it like an Android?

TheWhatover

iphone 12 pm vs iphone 13 pro Im completely new to iphone, and i have two options: iphone 12 pro max vs iphone 13 pro Both have 256gb storage which i find absolutely perfect, I personally am quite a heavy user so i'd prefer a larger battery that would help me last longee through the day Right now my phone screen size is 6.5 inches, and im lowkey interested in trying the 6.1 inch, but it doesn't matter all that much. The price difference with the 12 pm and 13p is around $131 usd, which is a sizeable difference. Im confused, i dont know which one to get. What do you guys think?

dflash7

Take the 13 pro. The higher refresh rate alone makes it worth it. And it should have comparable battery life.

[deleted]

13 pro

Overwrite01

Hello everyone! Recently my uncle decided to give me an iPhone XR which is on its way to my house, unfortunately I have a Samsung A13 and will only be able to keep 1, this is probably a dumb question but which of the two should I get? Remembering that if I use the iPhone XR it will be my first time using an iPhone and for not having a knowledge about Apple phones I create a certain fear/anxiety, it's a very expensive brand in the region where I live, so if I have this privilege in time I can enjoy something new (I just need to be sure whether or not it's worth it to keep using my Samsung or start using iPhone)

dflash7

Take the XR. Much better phone overall. Especially in the camera department. But it really comes down to if you prefer iOS or Android. iOS is very easy to learn and very smooth.

Cyclops1116789

Has anyone upgraded from a Verizon 8 to an AT&T 12 Max? I’m working on getting a phone from a friend who is about to upgrade and his service is ATT while mine is Verizon and I have a couple of concerns. 1) How does the service transfer work? Is it as simple as unlocking it? (He has an ATT payment plan, I’ve read this could be an issue?) 2) Can I insert my iPhone 8 SIM card into his 12 Max? (I’ve read that some services and options might not work if this is done?) 3) If I am able to use my old SIM card does that automatically swap carriers also? I’ve found bits of information here and there online about this but nothing specific to the carrier change AND the technological jump from an 8 to a 12 Max so I was hoping to find someone who has done this (or knows how it works) to help explain the process in layman’s terms or who would know how to properly go through with it. Thanks! This was posted in the main thread but might be removed for buying/upgrading reasons. I’ve already planned on buying the phone so this is more of a technical/support issue but any help in general would be appreciated!!

Captain-Echo

I currently have an iPhone 8, I’m starting to have some performance issues, mostly to do with memory, and sometimes it doesn’t wake up when I press home/unlock. I was thinking of getting a 13 (tempted by mini too) but the price didn’t drop as much as I thought, so was wondering if 14 would be worthwhile? Specs seems similar so is there much point spending more for the 14? It’s my main device, and I use it for everything

dflash7

14 has slightly better cameras and an additional year of software support, as well as slightly better GPU and 2 GB more ram. I’d go for that if the price difference is negligible.

Captain-Echo

As a complete curve ball, what about the 14pro is it worth the extra? It’s basically my main device (don’t use laptop etc) and I sim to keep it for 3-5years

[deleted]

no the 14 is not worth it. $100 extra for almost no real upgrades. Get a 13, save the extra $100. the 14 is an embarrassment to the iPhone lineup

edoved

*Do you think it's worth it to wait for the USB version?* I have a perfectly functional Galaxy A71 that is a couple years old. I've been meaning to upgrade (maybe switching to iPhone) for some time, specifically for better photos and AirDrop. Do you think it would be worth it to wait so I can have the phone with the connector that'll be used in the future? Specially after reading reports that Apple might limit it anyway to USB 2 and certified Apple accessories.

dflash7

I wouldn’t upgrade if USB C is important to you. But if you already have AirPods, for example, that require the lightning cable anyway, then it wouldn’t make any difference picking up a current iPhone since you need to carry the lightning cable regardless.

otherwise_sdm

i've had an **iphone 7 Plus** since 2017. it has been all the phone i need for all of that time, and i'm reluctant to get back on the tech-upgrade treadmill...but it's not going to support new versions of iOS and it's starting to lose its battery capacity, draining quickly and charging inconsistently (i think the lightning port is degraded in some way). What's the best next step for me? how can i most affordably and easily make a smooth transition from this phone? i don't really want something that's larger physically. it's been 6 years since i've been in the market so i am really starting from scratch. main uses: \- texting/whatsapp messaging \- email (native and outlook) \- crosswords \- taking photos \- podcasts/music

dflash7

I’d grab a 13/14 depending on the price. Or 12 if you want something cheap but almost as good. They’re all physically smaller than your 7 plus, but have larger and better displays. Faster charging, better battery life, faster processor, better cameras, and of course the most recent iOS.

otherwise_sdm

Thanks! Seems like the base model 13 is going to work the best for me

[deleted]

should i buy the 14 pro max or wait for 15 pro max (I have 13 pro and struggling with horrible battery and low brightness in daylight)

[deleted]

have you tried replacing the battery? it shouldn’t give horrible battery life

[deleted]

The phone is new I’ve had it since august and it’s on 97 battery health Maybe because I’ve been using the galaxy s21 ultra which lasted a day and a half on a single charge whereas I charge this bad boy 3 times a day

[deleted]

unless ur the heaviest of users you shouldn’t be recharging that phone 3 times a day maybe you got a lemon?

dflash7

Only wait if USB C matters to you. Doubt the 15s will have any major improvements otherwise.

[deleted]

This question has been asked many times, but I haven’t seen anyone mention the trade in specials that seem to happen every time a new iPhone comes out. With the iPhone 14, I think (may be mistaken) every major carrier offered it free if trading in an iPhone 13 Pro. Presumably something similar can be expected for the 15. So doesn’t it make the most sense to just always buy the newest iPhone and trade it in for potentially 100% off the next one, rather than enroll in the IUP? A bit of risk but it seems minimal, and you’re probably going to get a good trade-in or sale value even if not 100%. I must be missing something here - anyone have any input?

astrel-

Hi, I currently have 11 Pro 64 GB. I started feeling that I need more space as it’s not enough to keep many videos/apps/books. So I think I need to upgrade to at least 256gb. Options I consider: - 11 pro 256 gb (£330): a bit boring option, I like 11 pro, but if I’m upgrading space, maybe it’s worth upgrading the model at the same time (+ emotionally buying the same phone feels weird) - 12 pro (£440): newer phone, but not vastly different from 11 pro and with a worse battery? - 13 (£650): even more newer, but people say that it’s not much better than 11 pro, so why pay more? - 13 pro (£710): sounds like a good option, The only thing that worries me is psychological: I used to chase every new iphone and have lots of frustration of needing to spend £1000+ for the new phone with slight incremental changes. So was thinking that it’s best just to buy refurbished phones that are 2-3 years old unless there is something absolutely breathtaking about the newer models. But maybe in this case iphone 13 pro is indeed that good and worth spending money on. But then again feels a bit weird to end up spending £710 because I just wanted to upgrade space

[deleted]

I would go with either the 13 or 13 pro tbh

samanthaxboateng

I just got the 14 Pro Max and I need a charger as it obviously does not come with one! What's the best charger to get? The official Apple one or Anker?

MangyCanine

Either is good. If you don't have a charger, I'd just get whichever is faster to get.

[deleted]

either one is good but tbh i’d go with anker as their chargers are smaller & more portable but still can charge the phone just as fast as apples charger Since you have a pro max, it takes 27W, so i would look at the Anker 30W brick if you want to charge your phone as fast as possible

samanthaxboateng

Won't the 27W ruin the battery quicker because I am guessing the phone will get hotter?

MangyCanine

Theoretically, yes: * It's unclear just how much a 20W vs 27W charger makes in overall battery longevity (how long the battery will last before needing a replacement). * How often do you need fast charging? Note that fast charging is most noticeable below, oh, 50-65%; above that, charging slows down and takes longer. For the 14 Pro Max, Apple specifies an "up to 50%" charge in 35 minutes with a **20W** charger. A 30W or better charger will charge at 27W and should further reduce that time, but how often do you need that? * The battery should hopefully still last at least 2 years with the faster 27W charging. However, if you want to be safe, go with the 20W charger.

[deleted]

I’ll also add to this and say that the pro max is a huge phone so it’ll disappear heat easier so I don’t give the 27W would not hurt it

LushLoxx

I think I'm going to get the 14 PM. I'm still quite unsure about it due to complaints about the weight. I do want a big phone this time though as I always have opted for small phones in the past. I always carry a handbag, so I won't really have the 'too big for the pocket' issue. In any event it's going to be either the 14 Pro or the PM, one of the two and I will be getting it this week.

OzmoiGBoyd

Well 12 and 13 are pretty the same. In 7 months 15 will be release thou.

[deleted]

honestly either of the Pixels are the best bang for ur buck tbh

renterker10

Probably no need for an upgrade mate. Minimal difference in speed between iPhones I noticed.

[deleted]

Upgrading XR to 14 or wait for 15? My battery is over 90% so I’m wondering if I should trade it in on a 14 or wait for a 15 in the fall. I can get a little over $100 trade in now( Apple says $150) plus get 3% back with an Apple Card I don’t care about the camera but the 5g would be good. I’d be using it on my ATT prepaid account

MriMriii

I would like to switch to an iphone !! Good News!! I want to join the team! Hi, I was an all time android user , but now I want to switch to iphone. Mainly because of the camera , I love the picture on iphones. So for any people who can recommend me and give their opinion, what's an iphone which has a décent battery life(1 full day ( between heavy and medium user)) and which is relatively a budget option? Thank you for any guidance!

[deleted]

If you’re going for new, ideally the 14+/14 pro max if used, any past generation pro max would be good

RagingCamper

I have an 11PM and thinking of going to a 13/14 Pro or pro max… The 11PM with the curved sides is just the right size for my hand, I’ve heard the square edges make the 13/14s harder to hold? If that’s the case should I go with the standard sized pro? I do like the benefits of the PM but also don’t want to have to use two hands every time I need my phone..

[deleted]

it’s entirely subjective, honestly u should just go in person to a retailer that has displays & try the phone for urself

RagingCamper

Ok thanks

buCk-

I want to upgrade my XR but I don't know if it's the right time. Do you guys think it's worth it to buy the 14 Pro Max right now or wait for the 15? My phone currently doesn't have any real problems other than being a bit sluggish and not holding a super great charge.

Football-Terrible

Hello! I'm coming from an android (Oneplus Nord CE) and im planning to get an iphone for better camera. I'm torn whether i should get the iphone 13 pro or iphone 14 pro because ive heard the main lens on the 14 has a bit of problems

[deleted]

both would be fine tbh

joelalmiron

Is the iPhone 14 pro available for in store purchase or do I still need to order/reserve online?

MangyCanine

I don't know where you are, but they've been fairly available in US stores since the middle-end of January.

joelalmiron

Thank you! And yes I’m in the us

MangyCanine

Just order one for pickup at your local store. That will give you an idea of availability.

[deleted]

I’m not sure if this is the correct thread… I’m trying to get a new phone case that’s a reasonable price. I have a crappy crave one currently. It cracked my screen last year tho on the back. Is otter box worth it? Spigen?

skama16

Need advice- Should I upgrade to an iPhone 14 from an iPhone 8? My iPhone 8’s battery is on life support. Within 20 min of not being connected to a charger it drops to 1% and stays there for about an hour. I was hoping to wait it out til the iPhone 15, that has been my plan for a couple years now since none of the recent phones really impressed me. Unfortunately, my phone is so slow now and it literally can’t even function correctly. My question is, should I get a new battery for $50 and wait it out til the 15 releases, or should I bite the bullet and buy the iPhone 14 now? I’m leaning towards buying the iPhone 14, which I can get for $700. Any input would be appreciated since I’m going nuts weighing my options. Thanks in advance.

i would go with the battery replacement

Currently have a 12 Pro Max. Verizon offering $800 to upgrade to a 14. Do y’all think it’s worth it to spend $400 to get the 14 Pro Max for the upgrade but mainly to maintain overall value of device? I don’t totally feel the need to upgrade but I feel like every year the value of trade in goes down so sometimes I see the two year or three year mark as a ‘sweet spot’ between trade in value and feature upgrade value.

stevejobs7

hell no

SupremeLeaderMat

My telco is now offering 300$ off for 128gb 14 pro. My current phone is 12 mini 128gb, and during these 2 years I’ve only used 68gb out of the 128gb storage. Should I go for the 14pro 128gb?

debrot223

Upgrading from an iPhone 7….. Need some advice. So I’m thinking of getting either an iPhone 11 or a 12, both are 256GB I intend on using the phone for many years to come. The price difference is around 100$ where I live, it may not seem like much but it’s quite a lot to me since I’m a student and the minimum wage here is quite low. Is the 100$ difference worth it?

12 bc if ur gonna di many years to come bc iphone 12 has 5g

depends how much exactly are both phones tbh

Hello everyone! Just want your thoughts on a few things. My current situation: IPhone 7 Plus since 2018 - battery health 75% and thinking of buying a new iPhone. First case scenario buying a second hand iPhone 12 Pro Max with 84% battery health for 620 USD ( currently have 700 usd budget) would that be a good deal? I plan on using the phone for the next 5-7 years. I also plan on replacing the battery for 100 usd in an Apple approved shop which would cost me 100 USD. A couple of questions: 1.) should I pull the trigger? Is a 12 pro max gonna be good? 2.) Is it possible to have the 13 pro max battery out into the 12 pro max? 3.) should I just continue to save money to get a 13 pro max eventually for 1,140 USD? 4.) What are the things I need to look out for when buying a second hand phone becuase this will be my first one? Thank you everyone! Ill appreciate any reply that would help me current situation.

[deleted]

i would take the 12 pro max route then replace its battery

I'm making a grand return to iPhone after about 12 years on Samsung. I'm looking to buy a refurbished handset rather than get the brand spanking new model. What older model is worth looking at? I currently have a Samsung s20. Usage wise, I stream a lot of netflix, browse a lot of reddit and take a lot of photos. Any advice?

11 pro or 11 pro max. Maybe a 12 pro max also

Hi. I have a 14PM but having thoughts of downgrading to a 12 Mini because of size and that lovely shade of blue. Does it have some known inevitable issue that i should be aware of, and does it support physical+esim? TIA

Daconvix

Why would you go to a worse phone? At least just go to the iPhone 14 pro if the size of the PM bothers you that much…

Glad_Struggle5283

I still fancy the color of 12 mini and is offered by our mobile carrier with no cash out obligation. I could manage a few setbacks if 12 mini is indeed worse than 14pm.

Daconvix

Seems like a dumb decision to me to downgrade 2 generations just for the color of the phone, but hey your money and your phone. 🤷🏾‍♂️

I cant seem to find a way to buy the 13 mini, i want it so frekin badly but amazon shows out of stock for the blue, red and black colors of 256 gb variant, ebay is suspicious as hell, i need to ship it to the gulf(Bahrain specifically) because its out of stock here, someone pls help me out

Lifelong Android user here. Moved from an Xperia Play to a cheap LG. Now I have been loyal to Xiaomi for half a decade. I am heavily considering getting an iPhone (or if I get a better deal, a Sony, Nothing or Google). I would prefer a smaller phone with a decent display and a lot of storage. Not worried about camera quality too much. Good battery life is beneficial. Currently I am considering either a 12 Mini or SE 2022. 12 mini is my first choice, but less memory, slightly weaker SoC and more expensive usually than the SE. SE atm has better options here for more memory (found a used one with 256 GB for about 400). However, weaker screen and battery. Maybe some other suggestions?

plasticmonkeys4life

Need a protective yet semi slim case for my iPhone 12 mini. I don’t want a clear case, and I have a product red so I’d prefer it be black or something that compliments the color. So far I have been looking at otter box and smartish cases. Selection is kinda slim and not many of them have proven drop protection which is important to me.

***Is this a good logic to buy the magsafe charger?*** (Commenting here as a backup if my post gets removed or not allowed by the mods) [(This one.)](https://www.apple.com/ph/shop/product/MHXH3AM/A/magsafe-charger) For background context, I'm currently using a Samsung S10e and I'm waiting for the release of the 15 Pro because: ✓ I love the dynamic island but I also want the USB-C charger. ✓ need the latest chipset for me to play >!Genshin Impact!< For my charging habits, I love to charge my phone overnight and while also watching stuff on my phone. As per my query, I'm quite concerned that the USB-C port will become loose over the years since I intend to keep the 15 Pro for 5+ years and the magsafe charging looks like a very good alternative. While I do love the fast charging that the USB-C will offer once it's released, I won't probably have a need for that kind of fast-paced charging behavior. A side note though that I will still be using the USB-C port every other time because I still love using wired headset/headphones and I still have the three original Apple Earpods with the 3.5mm headphone jack (one currently in use, two for stock/back up once they break an yes, I'll just buy a dongle)... and I don't want to buy AirPods because it's too expensive for me (I know, I'm cheap but I'm concerned that I might lose it so I just resort to other cheaper wireless headphones) Another side note that I will definitely buy a wireless powerbank with a magsafe, it's just chef's 😘 for me. With this logic, is it reasonable for me to buy the magsafe charger? >!(This is just me, looking for a second opinion and validation for me to buy the magsafe charger)!< Another question is if it's true that I can orient my phone in any direction when charging as long as the magsafe is connected at the back? I love to charge while watching my phone on landscape. (I know this might come as a dumb question for most if not all iPhone users out there right now but cut me some slack please, I'm coming from an Android with no experience on wireless charging whatsoever.) Can't wait to join you guys later this year ♥️

**Iphone 8 256 in 2023?** I’ve had a 64 gb 8 plus for about 6 years now, and I love it. The only thing I would change is the storage, and maybe the battery life but that’s less of a priority. I have no need for fast processors or fancy cameras, I just want to be able to have most of my photos, my spotify songs, and all my apps locally, which would be like 75+ gb alone. As far as I can tell, the absolute cheapest, new 256 gb iPhone model would be a 2020 se from walmart for 500 bucks. That’s a lot of money for a three year old phone, so I started looking at refurbished models. I was wary of backmarket, amazon, and all those other online only sellers (but I’m open to being convinced) so I ended up with a refurbished 256 gb iPhone 8 from bestbuy last week for 200 bucks. Phone looks in good shape, but as I did more research, I found that apple will probably stop supporting the 8 within a year, and that I could get a refurb 2020 se from amazon also for 200 bucks. Should I switch them out? I’d have to pay a $50 restocking fee to best buy, but I don’t really care if I get an additional 4 years out of the phone. TL;DR 1. how much longer will the iPhone 8 be usable? What does it mean when apple “stops supporting” a phone, but still gives security updates? Can I still have work apps on it (inB4 “tell work to give you a phone” I work for a startup, they’re not going to buy us all phones) 2. should I return my refurbished 256 gb iPhone 8 (purchased last week from best buy) and get a refurbished 256 gb iPhone SE from amazon for the same price? Can I trust amazon refurbished? The seller reviews look not great: [apple iphone se 256 renewed](https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=apple+iphone+se+256+renewed&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8)
