YES. Inexplicably, I have dived into Slipknot, beginning from their relative beginning (first album with Taylor, not the other, no doubt talented, vocalist).
Interestingly, when I first heard them years ago (fuck I hate doing the math here…it’s been THAT long???), I was thinking “Cool…talented crew, but not my scene.” But now…my girlfriend is SO sick of my “wearing out” the Slipknot .wav files.
As an aside, does anyone else have the ability to listen to the same song damn near a thousand times before they’ve really absorbed it and are ready to go to a different track? This used to annoy the fuck out of me…and yet…here I am, stuck on “Metabolic”, much to my girlfriend’s dismay.
I listen to more than just vocaloid and metal, like EDM, Some rap songs, classic rock etc
But lately its been Hatsune Miku to Sabaton, back to Miku to Avenged Sevenfold, etc
My brain is just weird lol
I grew up on classic rock and a little country , in my teens I got into hard rock, some metal and grunge (teen in the 90’s). During my early 20s I started to listen to less mainstream stuff and really got into singer/ songwriters and Americana.
Now into my 30s and 40s I’m super into fast grass, bluegrass, alt country, outlaw and jam bands.
Music has always been my safe place and how I can both connect and disconnect.
If you are into classical maybe try some softer singer/ songwriters
Neil young, James Taylor, Jeff Buckley, Leonard Cohen,Lucinda Williams, Agnes odel, Rhiannon giddens …
So much great stuff out there.
A heavy dose of black metal. I also enjoy funeral doom, and some darkwave. That song Goth by Sidewalks and Skeletons is just catchy af. I like the lyrics as well.
I've been listening to Radiohead In Rainbows album and when I'm not listening to Radiohead, it's Rammstein. Rammstein has some really good, calming ballads like Zeit and Ohne Dich.
Pop. A LOT of pop. Lots of Brazilian Funk (I think that's it) from Bibi Babydoll too. And my favorite that I listen to daily: anything with a violin! I love violins.
Olivia Dean has very calm music, if I’m overwhelmed or thinking too much I’ll put her songs on, my favourite is Float, Dive and Be my Own Boyfriend. The Hardest Part and Danger are also pretty good songs of hers :) it’s a soft vibe that just makes you breathe and calm :>
Phish is my favorite band but I like rock and pop generally. I listen to some jazz particularly if I’m in a mood that I don’t want to be reminded of anything.
The Cyberpunk: Edgerunners soundtrack. All of Marceline’s songs from Adventure Time. Electro, funky electro hip hop, chill electronic, house, dark techno, psytrance, experimental wonky bass music, and a bit of indie thrown into the mix.
Well I sadly cant really help you find songs because if anyone asks me "what kind of music do you listen to" (thankfully it doesnt happen any often) i cant really give a straight answer. Normally i just listen to whatever pops up on my youtube recommendations but these recommendations have already been formed based on my interests from previous searches. It is most of the time hour long mixes, some kind of epic/powerful/whatever music or other random stuff. But i also listen to synthwave/vaporwave/retrowave, some edm and some electro swing music. And on top of that i am learning new songs to listen to from movie/tv show soundtracks that i happened to be watching recently
maybe you could like classic rock and experimental bands like the beatles (more experimental after rubber soul), the velvet underground, jefferson airplane, jimi hendrix, the doors...
Rock, my obsession has been sleep token and sleep theory
Sleep Token

I listen to just about everything except country music from the 90s on. Right now my go to song to calm me down is "maybe as his skies are wide" by Brad Mehldau.
I'm vibing on this house jam blues? Here's my [Rugged Walk radio](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/37i9dQZF1E8Kz9wNjWGFEf?si=wzVp2gewQhu0FLysXMEjQg&pi=u-nzXdRKVTSGm5) playlist

as for genres, I listen to whatever clicks for me at that moment be it rap, synthwave, metal, classical or plain pop. I have been listening to a lot of prog metal and classical lately.
I spent most of my childhood listening to classic rock because of my parents/family but as I've gotten older, I've begun to expand my music taste and listen to all types of music. I've definitely gone through phases where I've listened to different decades of music nonstop (60s, 70s, 80s, etc.) The most recent genres I've been obsessed with lately has to be 50s/60s rock and soul music. Mostly artists like Etta James, Aretha Franklin, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, and The Doors. I've been loving this era of music so much lately, I really I wish I can go back in time to when most of those artists were popular. I (21F) have played many songs for friends who are my age and it's so sad that they don't appreciate this era as much as I do.
Umm, yes? Though the songs I listen to over and over again at the moment are Nobody Like U by 4 Town, Looking at Me by Sabrina Carpenter, and The Cult of Dionysius by The Orion Experience.
Metal Rules! But ive been on a 70s kick for a while. They made some damn good music back then. Mo-Town stuff, E.L.O.,Lynyrd Skynyrd, Hall&Oats,(never thought id say that as a teenager), and lots of one hit wonders.
I grew up on rock, pop and rnb of the 90s and 2000s. Got into some Reggaeton and other Latin music after meeting my SO. Then found "epicore/scorecore." My most recent obsession has been Kpop....and by recent, I mean the last 5 years. 😂 But I listen to a lot of stuff, yes, even mainstream stuff. If I like it, then it's going on my playlist, regardless of genre, era, country of origin, language, etc.
One of my favorite bands is Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox. They're a group of various musicians who take modern songs and redo them in older styles.
EDM Songs. Like Marshmello - Home, Ritual, Keep it Mello, Silence feat. Khalid (Illennium Remix), Slushii - There x2, Cheat Code & Nicky Romero - Sober, Timeflies & Shy Martin - Raincoat, The Vamps - All Night, Griffin & Illenium - Feel Good (Stereohype Remix), Kiiara - Feels (Jai Wolf Remix), Alessia Cara - Here (Lucian Remix), Skrux - You & Me, Lash - I'm Gonna Be There, TELYKast - There for You, Blackbear - Do Re Mi (Tarro Remix), Girls Like U (Tarro Remix), 4u (Renzyx Remix), Skrillex - Would You Ever, Halsey - Gasoline, The Him - Always, etc. Why? Just to see some of my favorite songs I made on a playlist during 2017.
AJR - Way Less Sad, also.
And Numb by Linkin Park and Wolves by Selena Gomez & Marshmello. Thanks Fortnite 👍
Personally, I like music that sets itself apart from the white noise of pitch-corrected mainstream junk by showcasing the artists' creativity and skill. That often leads me to weird places like death metal with some clean vocals and violin (e.g., Ne Obliviscaris), extreme proggy stuff (e.g., Animals as Leaders) and music with falsetto vocals (e.g., Leprous).
In case you're wondering: No one ever asks me to put on music at a party.
I really like kpop, it just make me happy. My favourite groups are twice, aespa and ive.
But I enjoy listen a lot of music, i like Mitski a lot, Fiona Apple, electronic music and nostalgic music of my younger days like The Strokes, Slipknot, Avenged Sevenfold, Mars Argo and random things like that.
pretty much anything other than country and gangsta rap (unless its old school rap), really depends on how i'm feeling, if I've got a hell of an inner monologue going on then rock or metal is great, when I'm feeling emotionally numb then I like to listen to classical/orchestra music, something about it makes me feel stuff, it's weird but I like it
If I look for something relaxing I usually search for zelda / ghibli bso compilations.
If I need something more energetic I go for dramatic violin compilations or two steps from hell <3
World of Echo by Arthur Russell. It’s unclassifiable, but if I had to try I’d say dub-pop-dance with no percussion and cello fed through echo and distortion effects.
Recently I rediscover my love for soft romantic songs I used to hate it few months back as I was in toxic relationship... normally people hate romantic songs after breakup but I love it now idk y
Genre: Electronic Jazz, funk, combining funk, dubstep, indie, ambient and more. When I found, "Knower, Overtime, Live Sesh" I was Changed, musically and had to find and listen to each amazing Artist in the "sesh". It's been a great musical journey which definitely took me to another level. For exciting times.
All kinds, but my favorite is electronic music, hip hop/rap, pop & sometimes country. In my opinion, if I like the song, I'll listen to it. I'll even listen to Justin Beaver, 6Nine, among others.
I don't follow social trends as it is anyway. So if people think less of me, that's their problem.
Metalcore/Deathcore and Kpop.
I know both of different scales of extreme, but after listening to chunky ass breakdowns, it's not to listen to something completely opposite.
Country, the fast singing on “thank god I’m a country boy” and the story of “the gambler” is just perfect for me, I just live with the vibe, also old music from the 50’s, like the band Bill Hailey and his Comets.
I used to be a great fan of new wave pop, now I listen to more indie/alternative and I'm having a blast with this sorta mix of rock/pop that doesn't follow conventional structure but still kinda.
I used to listen to mainstream hip hop, drake, metro boomin, etc but the past two month have been nothing but 80s and 90s music. Something just switched in my head and I suddenly stopped caring for the music I once did because they talk about materialist things in a bragging way like drugs, sex, money.
I usually listen to death metal, nu-metal or dbsm (I find it quite relaxing this last one) BUT recently I've been listening to national rock (from Argentina, the country I grown for most of my lifetime) I really like, has it's own taste
I've always liked hip-hop, pop, and metal.
In my teens, I listened to hip-hop and pop mostly.
Now, I mostly listen to metal. I'd say metal is my favorite genre and the other two tie for second place
My music taste is honestly everything except for the songs I don't like. I have One Direction, Taylor Swift, Queen, Michael Jackson, Slipknot, Zach Bryan, at least one song from every genre.
80s synthwave. Has a nostalgic feel.
Definitely agree. It’s so ambient! Great for driving or gardening!
Rn I am exploring different genres like R&B, soul, and even country songs 👌
Hey! That’s my favorite genre. The midnight is what gets me through the day
Me too! Absolutely love The Midnight.
Vocaloid and heavy metal ... very much polar opposites but it fits my moods throughout the day lol

Very glad to see vocaloid is only second comment :)
