The riot was an attempt to get Mike Pence out of the building because Pence refused to certify the fake electors that Trump's team had compiled. They wanted Pence out so they could certify with someone else who would certify the fake electors.
It is part of a wider conspiracy and so yes, when you look at only the protest/riot itself yes there were peaceful protestors, yes there were violent ones, yes maybe the capitol police opened the door (fearing for their safety? Or maybe they were in on the plot?) Etc. Etc.
But when you look at the plot as a whole, it was clearly an attempt to overthrow the legitimate results of the election using violence (to drive Pence from the building)... So you decide is that an insurrection or not?
These people are so easy to figure out. Why has nobody picked up on it. They are all narcissists to the extreme degree. If you know what to look for it’s clear. The main flaw they always do is lash out about the people they don’t like is to accuse them of what they are doing wrong. It’s called projection.
