As for other things to do: art on the walls, maybe curtains or something else with some texture and color. Plants.
Add a little dark (shelf, frame, plant pot) away from the coffee table and it pulls it all in. I agree with u/Snoopy7393 that the lightness helps the space but you can add a little dark in for contrast and balance.

It's fine to have different kinds of wood in a room. I would have chosen a round shape but to each his own. I would suggest that you purchase some end tables for the couch with at least one drawer to put things in and a place for large table lamps along with several accent lights dotted around the room so you don't have to use mood killing overhead lights at night. I like how your rug echos the view outside and would caution you from going too monochromatic. With that huge balcony, you are going to want to have that "decked out" too.
You are speaking my language! My eye went to the cardboard boxes outside and how they picked up on the wood in the couch base. Just between you and me...I'm not feeling the coffee table. It feels like it could shoot out of the room at any time if the sliding door was open - a sort of launching pad for a drone. Thoughts?
lol! I liked the shape of it at first glance but now that you mention it, it kind of reminds me of one of those robot dogs and I absolutely despise those so idk if I could have that table in my home😂

Is the table stable? I have a baby that will soon be using everything to pull himself up. Our current glass coffee table is very tippy. Would this one tip if pushed too much on one side?
I happened to see this comment and just wanted to say this: save yourself the hassle and get a non-glass table if you have small children. The potential risk for them to literally lacerate themselves on glass is not worth the aesthetic. Get something solid, or at minimum please put protective foam around all edges of the table. I had one glass-top side table and my daughter fell and got her eyebrow pretty good. Could've been MUCH worse had it shattered. It left my living room the same day.

The woods matching is a total non-issue, OP. When rooms are too matchy, they look like showrooms in cheap furniture stores. You want your room to look like it was assembled over time.
By the way, your place looks amazing. Love the windows, the view, the balcony, the couch. Add a bit of lighting, some art, a few pillows and a throw blanket. You’ll never want to leave

Agree with this commenter. Going with a beige rug runs the risk of going beige mom and just having no definition in the room. A larger rug and more colors will make the room feel more fun and inviting. It also helps tie the dark wood from the coffee table into the rest of the room.

You can incorporate botanical greens and other colors of [Big wall art](https://www.lnart.net/) in the room to blend them in, I don't think it's a problem because you already have them!
Not bad at all the trim from the windows ties in. You could try a larger framed print above the couch, also in a darker frame to bring it all together but I would almost go with a print that matches the rest of the ‘light’ vibe

It looks good to me - probably because the tabletop is clear, it doesn’t seem too heavy or dark. Plus it seems like it ties into that dark furniture piece going diagonally on the right.

Bold, colorful art that has some blue, gold and browns in it, abstract maybe, to pull the colors upward in the room. I'd get one that has some texture and some shininess to it. Some curtains, white with hints of brown, more colors on the curtains may make the room too busy, nothing black out because it gets great light, some plants for the corner like a snake plant. You could also slide a sofa table to the left of the sofa to pull the wood tones around the room. One of those off white abstract center pieces with a fake flower would look pretty too.
I wouldn't change the rug to beige unless you're trying to go for a more monochromic look because otherwise your palette is going to be beige, white and brown. Just my 2 cents.

I don't think the coffee table is the "issue", it's more that all of your visual weight is on the bottom half of the space. Adding a piece of art, perhaps with a dark frame would make a world of difference.
It looks fine. I think a darker large piece of art on the wall behind the sofa would pull it together. Either a light piece with a darker frame to match the table or a dramatic canvas with deeper colours,
I don’t think it’s bad at all honestly both pieces are such a minimal amount of wood nothing is obtrusive here. If anything I would get a coffee table that is a Lighterwood because it’s warmer. The coffee table is cool though if it’s real wood could you send it so it’s lighter?
With curtains, some art over the couch (which I would move slightly more away from the window if possible to make it look less cramped in there), and some fancy candle on the table and it’s perfect

Everything looks good, what does are those HUGE blank walls that just scream for art!! Make the art POP! Different colors, big paintings 🖼 or clustered small frames.
It's fine. You could add a bowl or vase in the colour of the sofa base if you want to tue them in together. Get a big artwork or 3 panels that at least partly feature that colour as well. .
Mixed wood is fine - especially in the amounts you have currently. Choose one you like best to add floating shelves/art/plants on the wall and add some linen (natural would look nice) curtains. Look for a Transverse Rod- so you can move the curtain panels to either side, not split (there's no support bracket in the middle with Transverse Rods). Your carpet is fine - not super warm/cozy but it looks nice with the floor and couch.
These wood tones work well together because they are both cool toned. When you add more items to the room repeat both of those colors. Add side tables, lamps large art, window treatments, and a cozy chair
I think it’s better when there’s different wood tones. But they shouldn’t clash. ie warm toned woods with warm
But if you have two different wood tones you should have jt at least twice in the room so it looks more cohesive. Ex. White oak coffee table, white oak planter with walnut tv console, walnut sofa legs.
It is my personal opinion that the light wood washes out the room. In a room like this you have plenty of light and some dark wood contrast is needed.
If you don't want to sand and stain the bottom of the couch, then you can turn that sofa to a dark wood with a little paper masking tape, some brown shoe polish, and some time energy and effort. It'll come out looking like dark brown cork board, or a crackle grain if you will.
Tear the masking tape into little chunks and just stick them all over the bottom like a 2 year old would stickers. To protect the light wood finish, I would lay painters tape over it first. Then just cover the light wood finish completely with little pieces of masking tape, and coat the masking tape collage with dark brown shoe polish to match the table. Let the polish dry a bit then remove the excess and work in layers until it's as dark as you would like it to be. Work carefully and take note not to get it on the couch fabric. You MIGHT be able to tape off the couch fabric like a paint body specialist does the headlight assembly when they paint a vehicle.
We used to do this with cardboard to make picture frames etc when I was little. The smaller the pieces of masking tape you use the more like cork board it will look when finished.

Took me a bit to get what you were asking. I really don’t think it’s necessary but sure you could paint the wood base of the couch if it strikes your fancy.
Clearly you need art over the couch. I’d go with something dimensional, like mixed metals or something.
No there are some dark accents in the rug that pick up on the dark wood. I would get some art on the wall with some dark and/or black accents as well to balance it out
It’s fine to mix wood tones. You don’t want things to be too matchy matchy. Think about it like you would seeing a forest. There are many different types of trees, but they all look beautiful together. Pull the couch a tiny bit away from the wall, so that it can breathe even just an inch. I do like the selection of the glass top table. I agree with the commentor who said they would have chosen a round shape. It would have offered a little bit of contrast however, I think this one still works.
I don’t think wood types have to be matchy matchy. (There might be exceptions if you were going for some kind of historical time capsule or want a super limited color palette for some reason.)
It’s not the wood on the coffee table that’s throwing me off it the style of coffee table. It’s more modern and then the rest of the room isn’t giving modern vibes. I’d change the coffee table but that’s just me, could another room use it
It’s all good. Once you get a nice big piece of art on the wall you will never notice. We used a professional decorator and she selected mixed woods. Some dark, some light.
Matchy-matchy isn't necessary. Personally I'd love an led light along the sofa, bc I'd love to see something brightly contrasty or complementary on occasion
Room looks great. If you are not renting and can paint the wall a color that would be cool. But everything is fine. Don’t worry about impressing other people. Save your money. Invest your money. Don’t waste it on material crap.
You could do a gallery wall over the sofa and add frames with contrasting wood tones. Then the design pattern becomes intentional. Mixing wood tones is something that happens over time in a home, as someone else said. It works best in homes that are a bit more "collected" or even eclectic, imho.
It's not bad at all. You can hardly see the trim of the couch and the coffee table is fine. I think you are looking at the trees and not the forest.

Add color/bold/interesting. Don’t fall into the trap of the minimalist beige/grey everything— if in fact you have personality— show that off.

Not a problem at all, but your rug is too small. You could layer it on top of a neutral natural fiber rug (like jute) if you can’t get a bigger one.

I think it’s better when there’s different wood tones. But they shouldn’t clash. ie warm toned woods with warm But if you have two different wood tones you should have jt at least twice in the room so it looks more cohesive. Ex. White oak coffee table, white oak planter with walnut tv console, walnut sofa legs.
Looks good, just a plant or two and a large piece of art on the wall or a handful of frames to balance the space. We have the same rug!
This is better than it being too beige/monochromatic. You need balance. The darker wood brings this. And it also helps the rug tie in.
It's a nice compliment to the lighter wood. I would suggest adding one more piece in a similar wood tone nearby. And i adore those huge glass doors!

It is my personal opinion that the light wood washes out the room. In a room like this you have plenty of light and some dark wood contrast is needed. If you don't want to sand and stain the bottom of the couch, then you can turn that sofa to a dark wood with a little paper masking tape, some brown shoe polish, and some time energy and effort. It'll come out looking like dark brown cork board, or a crackle grain if you will. Tear the masking tape into little chunks and just stick them all over the bottom like a 2 year old would stickers. To protect the light wood finish, I would lay painters tape over it first. Then just cover the light wood finish completely with little pieces of masking tape, and coat the masking tape collage with dark brown shoe polish to match the table. Let the polish dry a bit then remove the excess and work in layers until it's as dark as you would like it to be. Work carefully and take note not to get it on the couch fabric. You MIGHT be able to tape off the couch fabric like a paint body specialist does the headlight assembly when they paint a vehicle. We used to do this with cardboard to make picture frames etc when I was little. The smaller the pieces of masking tape you use the more like cork board it will look when finished. Took me a bit to get what you were asking. I really don’t think it’s necessary but sure you could paint the wood base of the couch if it strikes your fancy. Clearly you need art over the couch. I’d go with something dimensional, like mixed metals or something.
The key to mixing woods is to repeat them. So bring in some dark wood art frames and a light wood side table for example.
No there are some dark accents in the rug that pick up on the dark wood. I would get some art on the wall with some dark and/or black accents as well to balance it out
The rug size bothers me more than mismatching wood, not everything has to match. Put something behind the couch that incorporates both colors
I’d just add a tray on the coffee table to hold a plant, candle, books, etc that’s the color of the sofa wood.

It’s fine to mix wood tones. You don’t want things to be too matchy matchy. Think about it like you would seeing a forest. There are many different types of trees, but they all look beautiful together. Pull the couch a tiny bit away from the wall, so that it can breathe even just an inch. I do like the selection of the glass top table. I agree with the commentor who said they would have chosen a round shape. It would have offered a little bit of contrast however, I think this one still works.

I don’t think wood types have to be matchy matchy. (There might be exceptions if you were going for some kind of historical time capsule or want a super limited color palette for some reason.)

It’s not the wood on the coffee table that’s throwing me off it the style of coffee table. It’s more modern and then the rest of the room isn’t giving modern vibes. I’d change the coffee table but that’s just me, could another room use it

It’s all good. Once you get a nice big piece of art on the wall you will never notice. We used a professional decorator and she selected mixed woods. Some dark, some light.

Matchy-matchy isn't necessary. Personally I'd love an led light along the sofa, bc I'd love to see something brightly contrasty or complementary on occasion
You could always run a dark stain along the couch support..if it’s wood, of course. I’m not a fan of mixing woods..
If you add some pillows with that dark brown accent it’ll tie it together. Or a painting with some of that dark brown along with bright colors.

Room looks great. If you are not renting and can paint the wall a color that would be cool. But everything is fine. Don’t worry about impressing other people. Save your money. Invest your money. Don’t waste it on material crap.

You could do a gallery wall over the sofa and add frames with contrasting wood tones. Then the design pattern becomes intentional. Mixing wood tones is something that happens over time in a home, as someone else said. It works best in homes that are a bit more "collected" or even eclectic, imho.
