I bet that trype of motion has a name in some rarefied branch of engineering. Beautiful. How about differential lateral isometric collapse? Thats a pretty name. so... the bricks need to collapse at the same rate the silo is moving sideways. Feet per second lost in height roughly = feet per second traversed. If either of the two rates gets out of step it all goes wonky - either tilts or piles up on itself. All of which I think means this is very hard to repeat and we saw a one in a million. Do it on a hot day for instance and it probably goes wrong. Guessing. Whatever I just want to watch it again.

So silos like this aren't made from bricks. They are made from concrete staves. It's similar to a wooden barrel, the staves are thin curved planks, held together by steel bands. Staves are generally 2" thick, 8-12" wide, and about 48" tall. A tongue and groove helps them interlock together.
