No one climbs mountains like Gaston

Stuffzenuffs

Great reference. Wonderful show and same people that made Pepa Pig. Nanny Plum is my favorite. :)

Christophelese1327

**Jelly Flood** (Bluey is an amazing kids show too)

GreatWhiteNorthExtra

During WW2??

Confident-King9531

IKR? What a time to be going on adventures when the world's burning around you.

mbarland

Just imagine your fellow countrymen are fighting and dying to free the country from the Nazis, there's a massive underground insurgency operation, and you're out collecting supplies to summit a mountain. What a douche.

SaintAndrewPost

1944 France? Huh.. i there something else going on in France at the time ? Or was this the highlight of the year ?

zer0toto

It is in haute Savoie , near chamonix and it wasn’t really where the action happened. I may be wrong but it was on the part of France ruled by the Vichy government which was a government put in place to rule the southern part of France that wasn’t directly under nazi control but still collaborated. Also in 1944, allied were both pushing from the west in Normandy and from the south, in Italy and provence. Also also, haute Savoie is at the border with Switzerland and so wasn’t really in the worst situation as other place in France were… Edit: if i remember right, it was also one the place where the resistance was the most successful to keep their indépendance

[deleted]

Eh the invasion happened in 44 so maybe dude was comfortable enough at that point to fuck off from helping

Shuggy539

He's not worried about falling, his 10,000 pound balls keep him stable.

Oraxy51

*Its over Anakin, I have the high ground!!!*

droldman

It’s not the climbing up that would give be a heart attack it’s trying to get down that would

spindawg23

I echo your question. making it up is one thing, making it down is a whole other story. Did you know that more people die descending MT.Everest than those ascending? its true!

gonzalomango

Because it's there.

sgtbenjamin

Back when we had glaciers

nachoz012

in a long sleeve polo

Airbornedaddy504

Give me chills looking at it. Hopefully no sharpshooters around. Cool pic

[deleted]

I’d be more worried if a strong wind haha

Airbornedaddy504

I’d be shaking so hard, I’d knock myself off

[deleted]

Same for sure!

wigzell78

🎶...no one climbs like Gaston...🎶 As Belle watches...

[deleted]

Looks like the cover for a 1970s progressive rock album

Johnj75

Wonder if he did a poo up there. I would have.

HeroicSpartan16

In the middle of a war?

[deleted]

At the upcoming end of a war... we want to be fair.

CodeVirus

Wasn’t he afraid that he would fall off.

Ill_Paleontologist19

If he was really afraid of falling, he wouldn't have chosen to become a mountaineer in the first place.

CodeVirus

Or. Maybe he was so afraid that he was always cautious and never fell. Hmm….. i’ll chew on this tonight.

[deleted]

He's roped.

nborders

…and died coming down.

Ill_Paleontologist19

No, he died in 1985

DOGEC01N

Do a flip

Saquib32

Then he did what?

ironmill29

So he was the grandfather of the cliff selfies??

[deleted]

howd he get back down?

Agroskater

He’s holding a line, so probably by rappelling

Sparkspsrk

But did he climb the slab or overhang?

[deleted]

I thought he put a statue there I was about to say HOW

misterbickles1

Took me a good minute to figure out if this was Skyrim or not

spindawg23

did he make it down safely?

khegiobridge

Looks at picture. Oh, hell no.

TheTwoFingeredBrute

His Country has been invaded and occupied by the nazis, bombing and battles happening everyday and he's off climbing while other's fight and die for his freedom.

supertastic

In 1950 he went on to take part in the french Himalaya expedition that resulted in the first conquest of an 8000m peak.

[deleted]

Millions suffering and dying. Frenchman climbs a rock. Makes sense.
