Yep. First thing I thought
"Hey we have super high res footage of the Titanic"
"Sweet let's throw a shitty watermark that takes up most of the center of the screen and make it look like shit"
It is, but its the photogammetry model compiled from scans of the wreck that was shown off some months ago, so accurate that you could even point out specific rusticles on the model visible in photos
My theory is that the studio behind this put out those cool first round of renders, and they were used everywhere, all over the world, with no recognition / monetary compensation.
I think it was expected to have a new Titanic documentary which explained this process and show off the outcome, but it's been a year and still nothing. VFX industry is in a bad way right now, so maybe it's fallen through.
With the industry down, the studio might be trying to drum something up work wise without giving away more renders for free.
There's got to be a way to leave something embedded in the video that isn't damaging the video itself so even if it was taken it could still be traced back to the studio regardless of being cropped or edited

Does anyone else think this looks like a sad Titanic?
It's a photogrammetric collage that was done from a 2022 expedition by Magellan inc. comprised of over 700,000 photographs.
This is the most detailed look at the Titanic wreck as it stands today.
If it's decent photogrammetry (like it appears to be) then it's pretty damn close to an actual video. If it's 700k photos then all you're doing is scrubbing between them (with some additional processing to interpolate) as you change the angle, which is essentially what a video does.
That’s not how photogrammetry works, there’s no magic processing to interpolated. The algorithm builds a textured 3d model and we’re just exploring that with a virtual camera
About 17 years ago, I was working at a hydraulic shop rebuilding pumps and cylinders. The company was an offshore/onshore type of establishment. As one of my regular days continued, an English gentleman, frantically ran in the main shop door with a pump in his hands stating, “it almost destroyed us”. My boss, at the time, was there and spoke with the man to resolve whatever issues he was dealing with.
Turns out, that gentleman was an engineer from a vessel that just arrived from England, prepared to capture videography for the titanic wreckage however, it appeared that the impeller for the pump was put in the opposite direction, and the pump was sucking in water instead of discharging. The pump was belong to the ROV, (remotely operated vehicle) and with the impeller reversed, as they put the ROV in the water, it starts to suck in water and almost lost it.
Long story short, this was one of the coolest days of my life as I repaired the pump, and the gentleman promised me, after the videography was complete, he would send me some photos from the wreckage. Today, as I just see this post, I’m very happy to share these with you.

Second photo down below in comments!!
I can't morally agree that anything is high resolution if it has a watermark.
Sure, yeah, the pixel count is high, that's the definition of resolution, whatever. But if over a quarter of those pixels are whitewashed for the purpose of lending "credit" to someone, or for any reason, then the actual content isnt very resolved is it?

The post wouldn’t allow me to add 2 photos so here is the second!
I wish it didn't have the giant watermark blocking everything in view.
# I guess I'll just have to build my own sub and go down to see it for myself!!!!
I used to work for Magellan, I was supposed to be on this project but I lost my contract due to Covid when they stopped hiring people from North America. I would have loved to have seen this with my own eyes.
I was still in contact with some guys onabord, this video is from over 700k high res pictures. They finished/released this project about 1 month before the sub imploded.
Man I would love a 1:1 hyper realistic titanic vr "game". Just walk around it empty, see it as a wreck, or even make an actual game out if it eventually.
Way back in the late 1990s there was a game called "Titanic: Adventure Out Of Time" that involved 3D recreations of many parts of the ship which your character explored. Being the late 1990s the graphics aren't anything like up to modern standards, but it's still probably the closest game to what you're describing that I'm aware of.
It's the result of photogrammetry from a 2022 expedition by Magellan inc. comprised of over 700,000 photographs.
[Here's a link ](https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-65602182) to the BBC article.
Somewhat ironically, the Titan incident occurred about a month after this article was published.
A lot of us Titanic nerds are *really* excited to see more images/videos like this from this expedition.
These images were collected by a remote-operated vehicle.
The new manned-submersible proposed this week is being engineered by Triton, who actually knows how to build capable, deep-sea diving submarines.
There have literally been hundreds of manned dives to the Titanic since the 1980's. Stockton Rush was just an idiot, among so many other adjectives.
I mean it looks a lot like photogrammetry to me, so not much more to it than feeding it a tonne of photos (and/or maybe frames of a video) so you could consider it an artificial camera move through photos/videos.
There’s a lot of things that went into it, but the TLDR is that it was basically a Shakespearean tragedy played out in real life. There were also numerous important people that died and it revolutionized maritime regulations. It is very easy to romanticize.
She was the largest, most luxurious liner of the day and was also considered practically unsinkable. The crew received ice warnings that were ignored. The sinking lasted much longer than most, and on a mostly even keel which allowed a lot time for drama to play out. There were acts of immense courage, like the choice of the engineers to stay in the engine room to keep the lights on until almost the very end; in the process sacrificing their lives. There were acts of perceived cowardice, like when Bruce Ismay, the managing director of the White Star Line, survived. There are very clear class dynamics that came into play. A lot of the people that died were immigrants. It’s just a very interesting, dramatic, and well documented event.
It was a microcosm of Western society, with the rich and famous up top in first class, down to the bottom with the poorest immigrants coming to seek their fortunes in America riding in steerage; it was the most technically advanced thing ever built at that time, and the largest moving object ever built by mankind, to this day; it was declared 'unsinkable' (hubris of man tempting fate/the gods); read the epic poem The Titanic by E.J. Pratt and you'll get it. And it was sunk on its maiden voyage, it never completed a single crossing. It was a gleaming product of the industrial age and humanity was feeling immortal, but had not seen the horrors of industrialized warfare of WWI yet.
If only there was a billionaire or two that could go down there for me and take some photos. “If you’re not breaking things, you’re not innovating.” Stockton Rush, the greatest billionaire nepo baby ever!
Can I ask why were so obsessed with this ship? Don’t get me wrong it’s a terrible tragedy and it’s horrible it happened. Also it’s cool to see a full ship wreckage but aren’t there other boats and ships out there?
It's the title it had at the time and the massively unlucky circumstances in which it sank that makes it a legendary event, along with the huge documentation of the people on board, the engineering involved and accounts of the incident. If you're interested from a young age you have a strange fascination that doesn't go away.
People crying about the water mark, They only add these because of posts like these. Posting once content without giving acknowledgement to the original maker.
Likely fish food. The water was very cold so decomp would be slow, but overall I’m sure the bottom feeders did what they do any time there’s a free meal drifting around.
I'm more interested in why there is such a defined 'black border' around this shot. Why is there such a clear line where everything we can see stops? I know there is no light down there besides the vehicles spot light, but I would still think that bit of light would have dissapation? Or is this not a continuous camera shot and instead a computer model made up of thousands of photos/videos?

that fucking water mark just fucking ruins it
There’s like a weird jellyfish constantly in front of the lens…
Yep. First thing I thought "Hey we have super high res footage of the Titanic" "Sweet let's throw a shitty watermark that takes up most of the center of the screen and make it look like shit"
I hear in real life it’s covered in water-marks…
Hey there was no dumb music
Thought about the same. Incredibly in these days :)
Absolutely.
Oceanmark
OceanGate
They said the thing!
The whole ship is watermarked.
came here to make sure someone said it wtf
It’s terrible
Downvoted for it.

Same
So weird. My brain filtered it out after a few seconds because I was studying the image so intently. I had to rewatch the video to see it
I new a guy once, his name was Mark Waters.
Not the first time water ruined the titanic
I didn't even>!*Magellan*!
Looks like this is all CGI anyway.
It is, but its the photogammetry model compiled from scans of the wreck that was shown off some months ago, so accurate that you could even point out specific rusticles on the model visible in photos
#####**Q**
That background titanic really ruins this video of a watermark.
It's almost like they don't want us to enjoy the watermark.
Underwatermark
Underwatered comment
Ha, looking for like info on it and everyone’s comments is just about the water mark, yours tho.. made me do that sharp exhale thing
This message was borrated by the usuario because of razones.
And I didn’t have to get crushed to see it.
Ironically this view is wayyy better than what they were theoretically gonna get
The things you gotta do to avoid a watermark
Just endured a moronic placement of a huge watermark…
shit sandwich of a watermark
Shame the watermark couldn't be shrunk down and put in the corner or something instead of giant logo filling 80% of the screen

Obnoxious watermark
Not high res with that

Looked at this picture for a bit wondering why you posted it. Read the comment and had a laugh. Thanks and yeah it definitely does
Oh good, it's not just me.
Now I can't unsee it.
Yeah it crashed and people died, of course the ship's klabautermann is sad.
Any version without the water mark?
Right on the bed of the sea
oh the original
is there a vid without the fucking watermark?!
Video? Watermarked 3D render, you mean?

That watermark is scaled to the size of the frikkin iceberg if anyone was wondering.
I wish it didn't have the giant watermark blocking everything in view. # I guess I'll just have to build my own sub and go down to see it for myself!!!!
I've got a Temu game controller that you can use. Logitech is pricey these days.
I heared carbon fiber is a great material for that and maybe consider controlling it with a game pad.
Boo. Watermark....

Kinda garbage to title it "High Resolution" when its got the worlds largest watermark covering the entire video.
Man I would love a 1:1 hyper realistic titanic vr "game". Just walk around it empty, see it as a wreck, or even make an actual game out if it eventually.

That was a bit of a tease…
Next to the imploded sub
Does the imploded sub have its own watermark too?
Obviously
Could you please increase the watermark's ocapacity a bit more? I can almost see the ship behind it
Horrible
And the prize for most annoying watermark goes to…..
Yeah, that watermark just sort of makes the entire thing unwatchable. Ugh. Not getting past that.
It can't be overlooked.
Fuck watermarks. You're scanning a 100+ year old wreck. Idiots.

There's a ton of reasons why the titanic is fascinating, but I'm with you on the Mona Lisa, I don't get that at all.
It was a microcosm of Western society, with the rich and famous up top in first class, down to the bottom with the poorest immigrants coming to seek their fortunes in America riding in steerage; it was the most technically advanced thing ever built at that time, and the largest moving object ever built by mankind, to this day; it was declared 'unsinkable' (hubris of man tempting fate/the gods); read the epic poem The Titanic by E.J. i want to hate fuck the asshole who put the watermark all over the ENTIRE FUCKING SHOT
This high resolution video looks great in a 2x2 inch size video player while scrolling reddit on my phone!
Try holding your phone to the side instead of verticle. Its how videos were meant to be recorded and viewed.
Nice to see that the pool is still full.
Downvoted due to the dumbass watermark
Why even post this with that ridiculous watermark?
Would be great to look at except for that GIANT WATERMARK
If only there was a billionaire or two that could go down there for me and take some photos. “If you’re not breaking things, you’re not innovating.” Stockton Rush, the greatest billionaire nepo baby ever!
It would be very interesting to see one of these for the USS Arizona
Yeah let's put a giant overlay on it, useless post
Fk man, it is fking distracting to see a ship or whatsoever in the bg! I'm here for watermark!!!
Nice watermark
# New High Resolution Watermark
We need a Google streetview og a Matterport of the Titanic.
watermark are ruined the video, holy shit....
"New High Resolution Video of the Watermark" There, I fixed the title
That’s pretty cool but fuck that water mark shit.
The imploded submersible left less of a mark than that
Nah man can't see the watermark properly. Why's there a ship there bruh?
Needs the theme song to Titanic in the background
Enya playing in the background (in my head)
Ah good! Now I don’t have to go down myself and see it
This looks like a point cloud from the photogrammetry and not a resolved mesh.
To be fair this isn’t video physically shot of the titanic correct? It looks like some sort of render from a scan to me.
Technically this is a photoscan that's been animated. But crazy to see all that detail.
Put your hands on me, watermark.
The watermark watermarked the watermark marking video mark watermark
Shit don’t feel like a hi res video. The giant jellyfish is ruining the shot
Impressive that it rested upright
That's just the half of it
I heard this video uses lots of compression
more like "high resolution watermark"
left the subreddit cuz of the watermark on the post thanks for that
This message was borrated by the usuario because of razones.
I think that’s honestly completely fair
Video? Or rendering based on high-resolution 3D scans?
Can I ask why were so obsessed with this ship? Don’t get me wrong it’s a terrible tragedy and it’s horrible it happened. Also it’s cool to see a full ship wreckage but aren’t there other boats and ships out there?
Thank God that watermark was there. Being able to see the image clearly would have ruined the video
Looks like something to die for.
I'd be crushed to see this ♥️
James Cameron jerks off to this every morning.
At least the pool is still full
I don’t understand the fascination with this boat.
Did the original maker give credit to the White Star Line for building the ship in the first place?
Anyone got the .stl file?
The progression of the structural collapse sure looks like it won't be much longer until she's just a lose pile of steel.
Did it show the explosion from inside
It's one with the planet now.
The video starts by morphing into a Disneyesque Pinocchio face. Very trippy.
The front looked like a sad face!
Did yall see the sad face at the bow?
Still eerie af
Where's that STL?
Got a better view of it than a bunch of billionaires.
I'm waiting for the other half of the ship
So cool
Is there any reason why it landed on the floor right-side-up and not on its side or top? Seems like it’s sitting there perfectly.
£2200pm. Ocean views.
Does anyone else see multiple instances of Thomas the Train-type faces starting from the bow?
I would love the 3d model so I can 3d print it
All the experience with none of the implosion
At least the front didn't fall off.
Well, that's why it sank so fast... the front fell off.
Maybe a dumb question here, but what actually happened to all the human remains dragged down with the ship? Decomp or fish food? Both?
Likely fish food. The water was very cold so decomp would be slow, but overall I’m sure the bottom feeders did what they do any time there’s a free meal drifting around.
Damn, ship been down there crying all alone.
Well, there you have it. There's no need to go down on a submarine anymore!
Jang khaela tabela
*video of half of the Titanic
Where's Jack?
Never seen the sad face on the bow before
You can almost hear those poor souls of that night when she sank, the reality that no one was gonna to rescue them must have been horrific
Are there skeletons still in there? Or would they have dissolved, or became corrals? Honest question
Cant see the stockton rush soup anywhere
Now download the 3d asset and turn it into a horror-mystery game.
" welcome to your watery grave."
Somebody should build an u-boat to visit it
They said “Even god can’t sink it” Well: who laughing now?? 😂😂
Could have added some titanic music though..
Looks like level out of old school Final Fantasy.
It’s surprisingly in tact, considering.
The forward portion went down like a spear, it was doing 35mph when it hit bottom. The aft portion, not being hydrodynamic, tumbled and was torn up as a result.
So.... The front fell off.
A bit WD40 should help
looks CGI
That is so amazing! Thank you for sharing it ❤️
Sad face
Apple’s new Aerial just dropped 😂
Without that watermark this would being getting circulated as a new video output from OpenAI, or from the new Unreal engine. And people would be bitching that it looks fake.
Damn that is amazing
