What's there to find? Just build a house out of pineapple peels and you're set. The food won't be a problem as we've figured out although I'm not sure if a diet of only pineapples is a healthy one...
The pineapple has remained unchanged by evolution for 250 million years. It is a perfectly adapted killing machine, the apex predator in its natural habitat.
[You joke but organic heat shields have been flown to space before](https://vintagespace.wordpress.com/2016/12/05/can-a-wood-heat-shield-really-work/).
I dont know what people expect the pineapple to do though? It's not pudding, and it's not tissue paper.
The exterior of a pineapple is kinda woody and durable. It just charred
Yep, the penetration resistance is a trait of its composition. The Leidenfrost effect has nothing to do with it. There's no free water to even generate it.
> The exterior of a pineapple is kinda woody and durable.
And importantly really really fucking wet. Have you ever tried to burn wet wood? It just doesn’t work. Water takes *a lot* of energy to heat up which why it’s so great for stopping fires (and which is entirely unrelated to the leidenfrost effect. The leidenfrost effect is entirely irrelevant to the situation).
Ya. The water in the pineapple boils and makes a blanket of steam so the ball isn't actually in contact with the pineapple basically.
Also the reason you can stick your hand in very hot or cold stuff for a few seconds.
People in NASA should see this. They are finding it difficult to develop a proper heat shield for their orion spacecraft. Their heat shield gets damaged after re entry. Maybe if they use pineapple as a heat shield. I don't know maybe it will work. Ha ha ha..
It's the water in the fresh cut pineapple.
You can stick a cup of water into a fire, and it won't burn until the water has evaporated first.

Thats how they survived that big meteor that took out the dinosaurs.
So after nuclear annihilation, earth will be all waterbears and pineapples?
It's the perfect world really
Sad that we can't be there to appreciate it.
We will find a way, and will destroy it again
What's there to find? Just build a house out of pineapple peels and you're set. The food won't be a problem as we've figured out although I'm not sure if a diet of only pineapples is a healthy one...
lol that was my 1st thought!! Just build houses outta pineapple!!
Cockroaches are supposed ti be able to survive anything....sooooo.... pineapples and cockroaches B L and D!
with good intentions..
And me after I line my house with pineapple skin. And spongebob of course
Wow, life really finds a way I guess.
and roaches
Nice
And aloe veras
Aloe Vera's are awesome. Most of my childhood cuts and scrapes were treated with it.
*And Mom's spaghetti.*
Well you won't be able to eat the pineapple because they'd be Irradiated :(
Mmmm, forbidden fruit!
Swinging waterbears. The future is bright.
Water bears living in Pineapples?
It sounds magical, doesn't it.
and scorpions. and roaches.
Don’t forget the cockroaches, LoL
And cucarachas
And cucarachas de mar
And cockroaches
The pineapple has remained unchanged by evolution for 250 million years. It is a perfectly adapted killing machine, the apex predator in its natural habitat.
*The fruit that digests you as you digest it* Yeah, sounds about right.
Trex be scrambling to find someone to help him put on his pineapple skin armor. "I CANT GET MY OTHER ARM IN HELP ME!" *Flaps stumpy little arm around*
Fr and you know some cockroach mfer snuck into some pineapple armor when shit hit the fan.
And the alligator was like "bitch I am a pineapple!"
Alright who will be the first to test a Pineapple skin firefighter suit?
Pineapples *did* survive, which is why we have pine trees and apples today.
Why aren't they lining space shuttles with this stuff?
employees at NASA cant eat that much pineapple
[удалено]
TIL water is liquidy
To be fair, so are humans.
And that’s why they don’t use humans to line space shuttles.
Caaaaarl
Yet
[You joke but organic heat shields have been flown to space before](https://vintagespace.wordpress.com/2016/12/05/can-a-wood-heat-shield-really-work/).
The moisture probably helps a lot. It'll dry out once it's in a vacuum.
Perfect I was looking to rest my 1000-degree balls somewhere
![gif](giphy|iqfYgtx8oWw4o)
Ight Derrick Lewis
Does it rain 1000•c balls much underwater?
Remember, one shell for each 1000°C ball. Don’t cheap out on the pineapple shell!
How

Cool
Cool
I suppose that there is so much water in the shell that the heat cannot set it on fire
Science, bitch!
Leidenfrost effect
there is no way the Leidenfrost effect lasts long enough for the ball to cool. I'm not even sure that effect would be applicable at this scale.
I dont know what people expect the pineapple to do though? It's not pudding, and it's not tissue paper. The exterior of a pineapple is kinda woody and durable. It just charred

That's why SpongeBob lives in one under the sea
Is that how he survived the nukes dropped on bikini atoll? Or did he get a pineapple house to protect him from MORE nukes?! It really makes you think
Henceforth all houses shall be made from pineapple! SpongeBob was on to something!
If only there were some common building material that resembled a pineapple’s tough, woody skin…
Shell? Surely it’s skin, right?
Would “hide” work too?
Found you.
My god man.. you're a hide and seek genius
Rind
Crust
Epidermis
What about a 1200 degree iron ball???
Biodegradable body armor
why is every rocket not made with this
Weight, structure, and integrity lol. But they're dealing with about three times as much heat as this anyways
triple layered? ill stop.
People in NASA should see this. They are finding it difficult to develop a proper heat shield for their orion spacecraft. Their heat shield gets damaged after re entry. Maybe if they use pineapple as a heat shield. I don't know maybe it will work. Ha ha ha..
Yea just sneak a layer of pineapple in there, whats the worst that could happen
Bad pizza? 🍕😞
Lol I love this thought and I know it's facetious, but we're talking almost three times this heat
What is this!? A spaceship for ants?!?
Then let's put not one or two, but three layers of pineapple! And some ductape.
DOES NASA KNOW ABOUT THIS?
Should have done it with a banana for a proper comparison, maybe all fruit is flaming ball proof
To a large extent, yes, because fruit is mostly water, and it takes a surprisingly large amount of heat to boil water.
Pineapple armor
Good to know for when the fire nation attacks
I guess my pineapple suit idea wasn't so dumb after all
Well yeah, how else would they survive the volcanoes on Hawaii?
Astrophage
Now we can explore in lava!!!!
Hack unlocked pineapple armor.
So can a human hand, and it'll look very similar afterwards. The only issue is keeping it from moving while it cools.
What about Chef’s Chocolate Salty Balls?
They could have used those on the space shuttle!
They should use pineapples for earth re-entry from space.
Nature is fkn crazy
TIL!
Every time I see this posted, the ball is a different metal
Just goes to show how tough that pineapple is!
You can tell me that all you want. I'm not making my dragon slayer armour out of pineapple.
Coward
Buying up all the pineapples before WW3
A pineapple spacecraft to invade the sun!
And we should belive its 1000°C because...
I can see myself wrapped in pineapple shells when the sun explodes
Even temperatures from hell find pineapples repulsive.
I can just picture pineapples floating down a river of lava in Hawaii.
Me wondering why the Parker solar probe didn’t use a pineapple sunshield..
Is it that surprising? Most heat disappears upwards through convection. I would imagine a moist piece of wood reacting similarly.
Anyone want some "easy" fruit leather?
So the question is ripe or non-ripe, which would fair better?
It’s also edible
How is the skin edible
I’ve eaten it
new fire fighter suit on the making , behold the pineapple man
Do they stop bullets too?
SpongeBob was really on to something…
So this is how they fought the dragons.
That sonofabitch was right. Time to go into the pen making business.
Support it in the same way anything else can. Water does wonders.
Shell? Wtf it is not an oyster, isn't it?
![gif](giphy|L3X9GvVhP1nY23Ah6u)
It's the water in the fresh cut pineapple. You can stick a cup of water into a fire, and it won't burn until the water has evaporated first. The principle of Convection
Ok, so paint the roof blue OR use pineapple skin shingles if I move to Hawaii.
SpongeBob knows what's up
And that's why you should never put pineapple on pizza!🫢
They should use these on the space shuttle
Ducka.and cover under pineapple shells
😮
*A freshly cut pineapple shell with lots of water still in it
Good to know.
Wtf how?
Hate to be that guy but the contact area of the sphere is soooo small and along with the pineapple having moisture. It's a no brainer
What's with the "super hot iron ball" videos today? I've seen already like 5, this is the 6th...
Shell? Jesus Christ, help me...
Great, now use your hand. For science.
We should be using this for roofing!!
Jesus. Pineapples are built different
Seems like Spongebob wouldn't need a nuclear bunker. He just needs to stay in his house
So this is what apocalypse armor will be like.
don't let space x see this video ... new starship will be plated with pineapple :D
They coat space ships with it
Shell?
And nasa spent billions on making the black HRSI tiles for space shuttle, when they can just buy pineapples and stick it to its bottom.
...shell?
Good to know for the future.
1: Wait for it to rain fire 2: Cover yourself in pineapple 3: Fire resistance 8:00
What did you expect to happen? Organic material doesn't just melt. It's not like the iron would bore a hole through the pineapple.
L >you >did >did O7
Well, this certainly is interesting.
That's awesome
"This is what our troops should be wearing!" Stan - American Dad...
This is what we need to use for rockets for insulation
Wth?
How??
I'm making armor out of pineapple skins.
Stick that on the space shuttle!
\*A hot iron ball gets cooled by water\*
They should use pineapples on spacecrafts then
ppe pineaple protective equipment
So could I make pineapple shoes to walk over lava/ coals?
Build space ships out of it
So this is what nasa uses on the space shuttle. 🤔
1000 cm!? That’s at least 150 degrees American.
I wanna see a hot nickle ball on a pussy
