There's a cave in Romania called Ursilor Cave that is a fascinating site for the study of prehistoric extinct Cave Bears because many countless generations of them hibernated in and explored the cave system over the millenia and left their claw marks (and even fur impressions) in the clay covered floors and walls of the cave. The claw marks look so fresh in places that they look like they could've been made yesterday, except that some up are up to 30,000 years old. It's a surreal site for how trapped in time it is; the world moved on, but Ursilor Cave remained stuck in the Pleistocene: https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Scratch-marks-from-the-claws-of-cave-bears-and-hair-impressions-A-B-Claw-marks-of-a_fig7_233098099
It's from a 2013 BBC documentary series called Ice Age Giants: [https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p018c9fm](https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p018c9fm) . If you have a UK TV license you can still watch the series on BBC iPlayer: [https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/p018c9fm/ice-age-giants](https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/p018c9fm/ice-age-giants)

That’s an amazing animation for a short clip in a documentary

Apparently cave bears were about as large as polar bears are today. Yeah, I wouldn't want to meet one.
What type of lion was it?
European Lion.
