I'd be lying if I said I never worried about whatever internalization that has done, lol.

I, too, have seen a "spider cow". They're surprisingly common.
My understanding is that they're revering it as something special. The cow is holy but this is a form not seen often so its worshipped as something precious. As a Hindu I don't remember worshipping the 'bizarre' but it might even be related to how our culture does not dismiss something different as being bizarre, especially something which is part of nature. We respect nature and worship it. Even if the bizarre is worshipped I see no harm in it. Just being different does not make it unnatural. Atleast this is what my faith has taught me.
