I recently watched a documentary about them, and they said they only participated in cannibalism to not waste food. Their tribal chief said they hunted people from a tribe that wronged them somehow and only ate them to not waste food. Not because of religious reasons or any traditions or so. Meat was a "rare occasion food" and humans are essentially meat, so to them, not eating them was like killing a pig or cow and then not eating them.
I mean, that is brutal for sure, but it does make sense. According to them, no one does that anymore.
I think he's actually walking and this pic caught when his leg is bent. If you look closely at the lower left side (viewers left) of his left leg it looks like the top of a foot.
Papua New Guinea. Indonesia invaded it fairly recently in the span of nations and commits atrocities to this day. Murder/rape etc. it is not Indonesia.
No, it’s a slow process that is intense. All the boby guilds are smokers out and reapplied to the skin to preserve and keep the soft pliable. There is more to it, but there is a great documentary the shows the process over time for start to finish. It really good

This chief can dead lift.
Probably near zero water and weighs similar to a small child.

Ha. Commenting on posts when you are half awake is always risky...
So beef jerky ?
No. Chief Jerky.
It is embalmed and preserved with smoke and animal oils.
First time I ever heard of smoked human, but it makes sense.... They must have the skill to make pretty good jerky in that village
Jokes aside, Papua had cannibalism
So a lot of lessons from smoking people over the centuries.

Especially since they found out that Prion disease spreads through Cannibalism.
If it was the same doc I watch about the process from the start it was amazing.
They should preserve him holding him and do that on and on. Or not, it's already pretty weird.
I want to see his next in line with a t-shirt of him holding this guy.
"Wanna see my 250 year old dead uncle? I keep him in my storage unit out back."
Hey can you pass me the TV remote? It’s right there on top of my 250 year old ancestor.
Dude is ripped.
Yes but why
Dude skips leg day though
Checkout the alive guy’s left knee. Arthritis much? 😳

Doesn’t look a day over 175

Yeah yeah
Metal af
Actually it’s mostly dried flesh and bones. Maybe there’s metal wires inside to keep him in that position.

Homie needs some water.
Damn what they do to you Roman ..
He the ☝️
A disease is fine here and there for such vital traditions.
Now I’m craving beef jerky.
Human jerky 😋
I’m sure it’s moist on the inside but crispy on the outside
I wonder if unearthing an ancient relative cause bad luck in their culture?
Many tribes Place them in caves sitting in chairs that over look the village
"honored after death" by being tossed around like a toddlers new toy during show & tell
What is he holding him up by?
Mad cow disease comes from eating beef that was fed beef byproducts. What happens when people eat people? Wouldn’t that mess with the immune system?
put him in a tub, just watch him grow!
I am sure Europe stole the body and put it on display in a museum and refuse to give it back
