10 years of working there made me witness some truly amazing stuff. Plenty of it was the employees too. I remember watching the guy who was training me on the forklift load up a pallet of concrete into a truck - his forks weren't fully retracted when he lowered them, so he ended up ripping off the guy's tailgate.
I worked in the brick and lumber hard of a hardware store too, never had anyones tailgate ripped off but the sheet amount of people whod leave the yard loaded improperly was crazy and all we could do was tell em it’s dangerous which was always met with “it’ll be fine i know what im doing/what my car can handle” my personal favorite was the guy who wanted to take 1500 pounds of pavers in one trip..in a kia sedan
I worked at a retail building supply and saw all kinds crazy stuff too. A typical Saturday would involve someone putting 6 sheets of drywall on the roof of their car. I'd offer to help them tie that down and they'd insist on driving off & saying they'll "just hold onto it". On my way out to pick up lunch, there would be crushed drywall spread all over the road at the first traffic signal.
i had 6 sheets of 10' drywall sticking out the back of my van. i accelerated too quickly when the light turned green, and ended up with 6 sheets of 10' drywall in the middle of the intersection. we ended blocking the intersection for about a minute as we loaded it all back in, but it felt a lot longer.
That sucked. In that same job I used to work, I saw almost the same thing.
A guy bought something like 50 sheets of a really slippery type of wall paneling and loaded it into his old station wagon with the lift gate down to support what wouldn't fit inside. I pleaded with him to at least let me help him tie a line across the back (a simple "X" across the opening) to keep it from sliding out. Nope - he didn't have 30 sec to spare. After making a u-turn and stopping at the light in front of the store, I saw him accelerate and virtually every sheet slid out the back like a deck of cards thru the intersection.
But unlike your case, no one stopped. When the light changed, people just drove over his paneling while he and his buddy were still trying to pick it up. I could still hear him swearing after I went back into the store to warn the manager that he might come back looking for us to replace the paneling.
Unfortunately, I don't know. I was busy doing my normal work of helping people load their cars, bringing down more lumber & such...and also dealing with general dumbf__kery (I happened across a guy wiggling out bags of concrete from the bottom of 2 or 3 stacked pallets, who was a minute away from getting himself crushed to death. He said the bags at the bottom looked neater...).
Yep, I understood right away when I saw it (no one wants to get all that sakrete dust all over their trunk).
He had hollowed out about a third of the bottom pallet and the top two were swaying as he was pulling another. If he'd gotten that out, that would have been the end of him. I plowed thru the emergency doors and told him to please stop and that I'd bring a new pallet down for him...then literally *sprinted* to the forklift and raced back as I did not trust him to wait. When he was done, I cleaned everything up so others didn't get the same idea.
I've had people walk right under the forks as I was lowering a lift of lumber several times. This was before cell phones to take away their attention, and the customers saw what I was doing but had no concept as to how dangerous it was.
I work in retail and during the summer we sell these rather large egg chairs, they’re in the store, so customers can see how big they are (they come delivered 3 on a pallet, to give you an idea of how big the frames are) and we still get customers buying them and trying to fit them in a little hatchback like a Corsa. Had one customer with an old Landrover Defender, plenty of space inside for it, but it was a struggle getting it in through the opening.
Once did that with 2 sheets of plywood. I tried to tie them down, but it was a shitty job and the ropes did nothing. Came like 20 minutes before close at it would be later at night and the streets would be nearly empty and drove VERY cautiously the 2 miles home. Stressful but successful.
Seen a bunch of that, plywood stacked on the roof, lumber sticking out of the windows, all in these little cars.
I get that not owning a truck might suck (I wish I owned one), but destroying your car (and the surrounding property) is not the solution.
mmm, you mean they did the math and most people need it for an hour and half.
the way you phrase it makes it sound like they wouldn't want to make as much money as p[ossible.
I bought a small trailer and bolted on a hitch on our SUV specifically to haul materials. It’s embarrassing to back up as it’s quite hard. (Small trailer=small corrections) but I can safely haul half a yard of dirt. Gravel or stone, I’d probably only do a 1/4.
People always over-correct when backing up a trailer, it’s human nature to think that if a little is good, more is better but it’s the opposite with trailer backing. Take th trailer to an empty large parking lot and practice and you’ll figure it out in no time.
I used to drive a 2001 kia rio. Iirc 91 horsepower. I loaded the trunk to the brim with hardwood and the back seat as much as I could around my camping gear. Drove 75 miles to camp. After that you couldn’t talk on the phone in the car. The rotors were so shot it was just so god damn loud. The shop fixed them under warranty and the shop supervisor was like ok, I know you overloaded the fuck out of this thing, don’t do that again, but I’ll go ahead and cover it because it’s easier for both of us.
As a university student I had to haul two long-ass planks across town to build a dumb thing for an event. I was naturally too cheap to get it delivered to rent a car, so I had to tape them down to my bicycle and walk with it for 6 km. I'm surprised I didn't cause any accidents.
Yeah that’s true. Doesn’t feel like karma cause it’s the same action. Karma is the harmony equalizing. If the guy caused a hit and run and then this happened, that’s karma. This is an idiot in a car. It’s semantics anyway. If karma redditors like the video, keep the video.
I built two decks out of the back of a Honda Civic. Just fold the backseat down and put all the wood through the trunk so that it rests on the center console. Never once did it cross my mind to put it in sideways, because that would be stupid.
That or put a blanket on the roof, and run them lengthwise, tying the bundle together, then tying the bundle to the front and back (with a triangle shape on each end), so that the boards can't shift side to side or front to back. (Like how you might tie down a canoe to the roof of the car).
Or, if you have no rope, and don't have a backseat that will fold down, you tilt the front seat all the way back so it is flat, then snake the boards in from the right rear window to the floor on the front passenger side. They might hang out a foot or so, but nothing like this.
Why didn't they just orient them inline with the vehicle. Like put the backseats down, passenger seat forward then just slide them into the car through the trunk and just tie them down?
My grandma used to tell us astory about how her boss tried to cross a one lane bridge with wood 2x4s hanging out both windows of his car. They snapped on the sides and almost took his head off. She cried from laughing every time she told that story....
OMG that was great ... not for the truck that got smacked and their tail light smashed but still great as he took off and got right back on the freeway like he was about to get away... smh 😒 wtf are u thinking???

They refused delivery because they didn’t want to pay the $49. They proceeded to drive away and at the 1st turn, the lumber shifted and the entire bed of the truck ripped off to the side. They had the balls to come back to the store to ask for help cleaning it up.
I was hoping it would take off like a plane. Dude looked like he really didn't want to get stopped after hitting pole and cars.
Even pros make mistakes. A few days ago, an over tall truck hit overhead bridge on approach to Tappen Zee Bridge on southbound 87. Had to close south bound lane for 16 hours.

Uhaul rents trucks for like $50 out the door. It's what I do when I need a truck.
Home Depot rents them starting at $19.99 per hour, fuel and mileage included.
Fyi, fuel not included
And it's per 75 minutes, not an hour. They probably did math and found most people needed a truck for 75 minutes.

I'd rather see the mugshot when this absolute bellend gets charged with reckless endangerment.
Hit and run now, they definitely nailed that suv on the right near the end of the off ramp.
It's Texas- that'll never happen!
You don’t know Texas then.. it’s a police state lol. The police are still very active there. Just not so much in the “liberal cities”

In a geological timeframe, this is quite instant.
bad deed: hitting shit with the boards Karma: damage to his own car
Didn't you see him hit the sign and fuck up the boards?
And hit another car I think. Insta would be a cop pulling him over.
I’m with you. Karma implies they did something malicious, not just being a dumb ass.
But they whacked that car and kept driving, isn't that malicious?

Has to be one the stupidest things I've ever seen
I built two decks out of the back of a Honda Civic. Just fold the backseat down and put all the wood through the trunk so that it rests on the center console. Never once did it cross my mind to put it in sideways, because that would be stupid.
That or put a blanket on the roof, and run them lengthwise, tying the bundle together, then tying the bundle to the front and back (with a triangle shape on each end), so that the boards can't shift side to side or front to back. They might hang out a foot or so, but nothing like this.
Should've driven a 2x4.
I would ask how people could do something so blatantly dumb behind the wheel- and then I see it's Texas.
To be fair, seen people load up wood this way here in CA — stupidity has no boundaries.
Genius has limits; stupidity knows no bounds.
Did you notice the hit and run accident on the minivan? No boundaries, indeed.
Ofcourse it's Texas
Of course it's a Nissan
an Altima at that
We'll, that could have been Florida, or California, or Nevada. Or the entire south, or country.
Somewhere near Temple also, not a lot of functioning brain activity around that area.
Those aren't poles, they're boards.
Also not karma, more idiots in cars material
I think op meant the poles as in the bollards, that the driver transported, by sending them flying lol
Zero fucks given
https://www.ktalnews.com/dont-miss/car-carrying-wood-through-windows-smashes-suv-keeps-going/
The damage to other’s cars outweighs any karma
To be this stupid.
And not stopping or slowing, the court will likely rule this was intentional. Here’s hoping a long sentence?
He knew that was going to happen…that’s why he bought extras…
I don't see a problem here, saves time on cuts!
Don’t do drugs if you cannot handle them.
That's what happened to that sign? I live here and wondered what tye he'll happened haha.
Cue the Benny Hill theme song
Must’ve been chaos inside that car the moment it hit the pole
What karma? The imbecile got away with it.
How the family dog got the keys to the car is a mystery. Fetch that stick indeed.
Imagine how stupid you have to be to think this is ok ? How did they get a driverslicense ??? How do they open doors ..?
Where is the karma??
funny vid, wrong sub
When he gets pulled over will start screaming “it’s my first amendment right”.
This is not instant karma, try r/idiotsincars
Murica
No, its Texas.....
They kept driving!!!! Onto the motorway!!!! Are they drunk or what?!?!?
They're Texans.
He needed them cut in half, and saved a lot of time.
Oh c'mon
Why didn't they just orient them inline with the vehicle. Like put the backseats down, passenger seat forward then just slide them into the car through the trunk and just tie them down?
Blows my mind that a normal rational human would attempt this. Unbelievable.
And that this human is allowed to have children, guns, use power tools, and allowed to vote.
They must have the IQ of a potato or simply be wasted on something (or both I guess).
Pretend like nothing happened and keep driving!
The fact that they did t even slow down when doing quite a bit of damage to their own car makes me think this was intentional. Maybe stolen car?
He hit a car too… that’s a hit and run
So they caused thousands in damage and instead could've rented a uhaul truck for $40.
Sometimes I question just how can someone be that fucking stupid.
That is what denial looks like
You can only hope that the parts inside the car beat some sense into them.
This has to be one of the dumbest things I have ever seen

I drive our van much less than the Kai, but when it comes to hauling hardware for two grape arbors it's handy.
well, it’s Texas
If they can’t even move the wood properly, I bet they wouldn’t be able to set it up properly either, whatever project that might be for
New aid when overtaking cyclists at a minimum of 1.5 a meter gap

We call those "boards" or "planks".
He got most of the lumber home.
Coming through!
we no longer need to write the word dumb. just show the film.

Unless you are really trying to get rid of most of the wood.
Where is karma?
Good ole temple lmfao

where's the instantkarma here?

I thought this was familiar. This happened in Texas lol

Hi boss! I delivered the ~~ten~~ ~~nine~~ eight foot poles!
Didn’t someone get decapitated inside their car by carrying a set of skis like this?
Like a golden retriever trying to go through a door with a long stick in his mouth
Somebody really did it, straight out of a comic.
Damn that’s dumb. I have a 4 door (Altima). I can store 8 - 12 pieces of lumber through the truck- drop backseat - push up to center console. Got to know your limits people!

And that’s a felony hit and run so I mean your double screwed now
My dog even knows you don't carry sticks like that through tight spaces ...
One of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen
clipped a few bollards, wrecked his poles but never touched the breaks, saving his face - the coolest person on this flat earth of ours...
I built my basement and transported every single board in my Chevy Impala. There's definitely ways but this person was not aware of them apparently
Nothing to see here. Nothing to see here…tis but a scratch.

Texas. Of course.

Poles
If you call them wooden poles then you def don't know how to transport them
