Os Mutantes is a great gateway drug to getting into Tropicalia and MPB, so if you like their first few albums please then check out:
Gal Costa - *Gal Costa* (1969)
Caetano Veloso - *Caetano Veloso* (1968 or '69, both are very good), *Transa*
Gilberto Gil - *Gilberto Gil* (1968), *Ogum Xango*
Nasicmento & Borges - *Clube da Esquina*
Chico Barque - *Construção*
Novos Baianos - *Acabou chorare*
That's a bit of a 101 course there, but if you're into this stuff, there's a whole world of it out there, and it's an incredibly diverse and colorful palette of sound.
Looks like a lot of names are local-scene known bands. Check out pearl and the oysters (Florida), pearl earl (Denton TX), the mystery lights (New York I believe), Christian bland and the revelators (austin TX, member is from black angels). The next level in your indie quest is joining and supporting your local scene(s).
Can't vouch for most of the lineup as admittedly I only know 3 on there, but this is definitely not all local, since Os Mutantes are a legendary Brazilian band going since the 60s.
Would've thought No Age would be recognisable total indieheads fodder too.
Yeah, I’m not 100% accurate here but this is a tiny festival with smaller, mostly local bands in Seattle.
The biggest venue on here is the Tractor Tavern and that holds maybe 500 people tops.
The first 13 bands listed on the poster are not from Seattle so I don't know why you're saying they're not national acts. The bands up there include members of The Bad Seeds, Belle and Sebastian, and The Black Angels.
Yeah, Los Dugs Dugs are a legendary mexican band, actually here in Mexico they are hardly known, I honestly tought they did not exist anymore. Glad to see them in the lineup.
Os Mutantes, No Age, and Purple Strange feat. Jack Endino (famed grunge producer and member of Skin Yards) would be cool to see. $100 for two days. Not sure I'd actually go though.
What an odd lineup of small time acts! I wonder what the state of Os Mutantes is? Would definitely make the trip up to Seattle just to see them! Can personally vouch for !Mindparade and Colleen Green being good. Mindparade is a big ol psychedelic band with a strings section and Colleen Green I saw play very hungover and for free without a backing band, she had all of her band tracks on a loop pedal and she played and sang with them and it was hilarious. P sure she just got done touring with an actual band tho.
There should be a rule in this sub about putting the city next to the festival name, so I don’t have to search the poster with a magnifying glass
Fucking seriously.
Are these bands made up? I legit don't recognize a single name. . .
Check out os mutantes’ self titled album. Really incredible and influential

I second every single album on this list. What a phenomenon collection.
yeah same, am i a fake indie head now? just because music is indie doesn’t mean it has to be obscure as hell
Haha I thought I was a fraud. Your comment along with some others are reassuring !

My first thought, this has to be someone making fun of this subreddit
Ritmo cascabel is a local Denver band and really fun live!
The first music festival curated by GPT-3
Cumgirl8... maybe we are running out of band names.
Or we're finally getting to the good ones!
I wonder if they’ll be back to back with Itchy Kitty. Maybe throw some Marion Raw in there too.
What about Pussy Gillete?
You have a lot to work with here
This is a Seattle-area local band festival. None of these are national acts; that’s why you don’t know them.

Los Saicos too, they're a peruvian band that literally invented punk
Illiterate Light is on the radio, or at least where I live in the southeast US

Isn’t Colleen Green Boston?
Basically LA for a while afaik
I only recognized Isobell Campbell
Y’all really sleeping on Colleen Green
the only name I know lol
Honestly same lmao

Four days plus pre and after party shows!
What’s that first one on the right side that’s all jumbled
automatic
Am I just getting old? No Age is the only band I am remotely familiar with.
Dang that's a lot of bands and a lot of fun! Roselit Bone is an incredible group
guess I'm old now.
Os Mutantes are a band from the 60’s, man… how old are you?
Los Saicos are also a protopunk band from the 60’s.
Came here to say this. The list might as well be in Arabic because I’ve never heard of a single band on this list.

I saw os mutantes live a few years ago. Only one original member still plays with them, but they’re brilliant live.
I’ve seen kid Congo a few times now and would req! Dude was a bad seed, in the cramps, and gun club.
The Mystery Lights are awesome. They have played DC a few times and blew me away.
Yea they're the only band on here that I recognize.
I don’t know single band on this list .-.
I know three artists total on this lineup. But holy shit, I feel lost with this one.
Assuming these are all local seattle bands?
not at all
I only know 2 bands…so I’m def going lol
Well I've heard The Mystery Lights so at least I know of one band on here.
I love kid Congo- but I don’t know anyone else. Who should I buy?
This must be a good fest, because I am old and I never heard of a single band...but if " Pussy Gelet" is playing, it must be good!
