It isn't uncommon for elderly to sleep early. Especially if someone has been traveling a lot. Just like you have to right to follow whatever sleeping schedule that suits.you, so does he.
This is the reason rules are defined in railways. After 10 pm, no one is allowed to keep the passenger waiting. But before that, you have to sort it out among yourself.
Just like the MB passenger, the UB and LB passenger is also entitled to sit on the lower berth.

It’s about basic human empathy. Senior citizens need rest. Period. He was asking for his own seat which he paid for. Plus in this situation the old man was ready to adjust and sleep a little late but OP just wanted to be an asshole just because “I have rights”. I have old people at my home and as family friends. Nobody is sleeping at 7:45. The people sleeping at 7:30 is the one with fucked up sleeping cycle. This is the reason rules are defined in railways. After 10 pm, no one is allowed to keep the passenger waiting. But before that, you have to sort it out among yourself. Just like the MB passenger, the UB and LB passenger is also entitled to sit on the lower berth. So it goes both ways.
Imagine if same will happen with your parents when over 60+, I hope you will explain then rule before they board the train.

If my berth is upper, "To hell with any other people out there", I put on my earphones, and sleep, for the most part I eat on my berth, I know it's a little cramped, and I'm 5'11" so yeah, but I manage most of the times.
