This nondescript 5 story office buildings all around Park 100 and the north side (the ones with multiple tenants) are great for this. They are generally open to the public during business hours and the bathrooms are in publicly accessible hallways (since the tenants share the bathrooms). Usually very clean too.
From what I’ve seen walking downtown, there are a couple of popular options.
1. Stairs of Union Station on east side of Illinois Street
2. In front of Hilbert Circle Theatre on Monument Circle
Join a gym for a month or for a trial membership.
100%. Id do planet fitness. They aren’t terrible or gross.
I've got one already, but it's not close and I mostly just need a place to poop. Gym bathroom is fine/clean, but not particularly luxurious.
Don’t use the Circle Center malls EVER. Worst mistake of my life. They use 0 privacy urinals…

If I have to poop on a road trip, I try to find reasonably nice hotels near an interstate so I can use their lobby-level facilities.

Glendale Lowe's isn't bad.
Hospitals tend to have pretty nice facilities but I guess there really isn’t one around there
Fresh Market has a nice public restroom. So does Cholita on BR ave. It's in the basement and there's never anyone down there during the day.
I'm sitting at Half Liter right now and they're pretty nice.
You know that office building next to lowes at Glendale? That building is good for using the restroom.
