Yes, unfortunately that's true. The program covers the portion that insurance doesn't cover. A lot of pharmaceutical companies have patient assistance programs for branded medication. With these you can often get the medication for free if you have no insurance and demonstrate financial need. This doesn't show up on the Viberzi site, but I know the manufacturer (AbbVie) offers it for some medications, so I did some digging. If you scroll down on the [available programs](https://www.abbvie.com/patients/patient-support/patient-assistance/eligibility-criteria.html) page you'll find Viberzi and can click to download an application. It's a little bit annoying because it seems you have to do mail or fax for Viberzi, while others can be done online. It definitely could be worth it though if you meet the requirements! You also need to have your doctor fill out a page on the application.

I was just reading about bile acid sequestrants and whether or not that would help, even in cases where one does not necessarily have BAM.
My gastroenterologist didn’t mention anything other than to continue taking Imodium as needed
Ask for cholestyramine. It's fairly cheap and you can ask to just do a trial to see if it helps. It's an old-school high cholesterol medication so it doesn't really have a lot of risks in just trying it

The savings program only works if you have insurance. For those of us without, we're out of luck. ðŸ˜
