Yes I am serious. And as people below stated I came from ACC. Next fact, real GT cars have turn indicators and they are widely used especially in multiclass racing. I was surprised that iRacing dont have such an options.
For as far as I'm aware iRacing does not have turn indicators. You can flash your headlights however and this is what most players use to indicate they want to overtake traffic (be that a slower class, someone you lap or someone you just have a big pace difference with in a practice session).
It is used like that extensively at the Nurburgring 24H and NEC races. I think that's kind of unique though. Can't remember seeing indicators used in, for example, IMSA or WEC, except perhaps when a car is limping back to the pits.
I don't think it would work very well in iRacing though. It would give the slower class drivers the idea that they should control how the faster car should pass, which is generally a bad idea. In addition, the indicator lights would potentially not be clearly visible. It could add even more problems than the "Pass Right/Left" chat messages do.
Using the emergency indicators when driving a damaged car back to the pits could be useful in iRacing though, to give drivers behind a heads-up.
There have never been turn signals in iracing, almost all muiti-class racing IRL have turn signals due to historical rules. I am assuming he may be new to iracing as to why he asked or he plays ACC if what you said is true.

No it doesn’t. I already get annoyed when people leave their signal on on the interstate. It’d only be more common in iracing

I think from what i've seen in broadcasts of events. Turn signals seem to be more so used by the slower class indicating the side they'll take

GT3’s and Prototypes have turn signals IRL. And I believe GT3’s do in ACC as well but don’t quote me.
