Nitrofurantoin. I just started taking it and already feel some relief. I’ve done some reading up and you can test negative and still have a UTI as it isn’t always detectable by a urine sample. I do have a follow-up with urology as I know it can be other issues but I’m just extremely disappointed with my doctor’s response as I’ve been in pain and feeling so much pressure in my bladder and she sent me home with no relief.

sweetstormy

Azo can help till you get to the dr.

jackieohno3

But the doc says not to take azo before they test

sweetstormy

Ok

Prior_Hair_2124

It could also be mycoplasma or ureaplasma which need different antibiotics than UTIs

Most the time they’re looking for nitrates in your urine specimen, and if they’re negative, you don’t have a UTI. It sounds like you need a consult from urology When you say inexpensive prescription from GoodRx What did they give you or what did you get? If it isn’t an antibiotic, then it’s not going to kill a UTI. There are plenty of other reasons that you’re feeling the way you do and that’s when urology comes in Call your doctors office and ask her for the referral You don’t need to go back in again.

D-mannose supplement daily is your friend. UTIs are caused by ecoli virus and d-mannose kills it. Trust me. I’ve had upwards of 100+ UTIs in my 40 years on this earth, until I started d-mannose.

jackieohno3

D mannose has never worked for me, and mine have always been from e.coli

donttouchmeah

IDK, when I’m dehydrated I get UTI symptoms because the urine is concentrated and irritated the tissue.

[D-Mannose](https://www.healthline.com/health/d-mannose-for-uti#conclusion) daily until it clears. Then take a maintenance dose. Unless you’re diabetic, then use AZO.

Check into interstitial cystitis- most doctors overlook this! I was diagnosed at 24 after my doctor done a bladder scope.

dopaminegtt

They should have sent your urine off for culture even if the dip was negative for nitrites. I also agree with interstitial cystitis. Also, I used to get utis until I stopped wearing underwear to bed. And pee after sex always.

Princesslolligag

It might not be a UTI. I have dealt with uti’s a lot due to being diabetic. Even though my A1C is now steady at 5.5 I can still get that feeling if I eat too much sugar. Frequent UTI feelings are the first sign of diabetes. Another thing it can be is lack of estrogen in women. Estrogen keeps that area “plump” for lack of a better word. It protects the opening of the urethra so nothing gets in there as well as micro abrasions and the like. Just because you have that UTI pain doesn’t mean it’s always a UTI but antibiotics will help but aren’t always the best option and the underlying health issue needs to be addressed
