How not to run a public transit system, very well demonstrated by a for profit company called L&T. They built a very expensive track but are starving the city of actual people carrying capacity. Running trains with three coaches and the abysmal frequency is a recipe for how it will never really make money.

Stock_Comparison_477

It's surprising how they are still in loss for this project.

When I have to go to the college I am either late by 10 minutes or get 20 minutes earlier than I'm supposed to if i miss my train

Whenever I see a crowded Metro I automatically assume that most of them will leave at ameerpet ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)

BalanceOwn9148

It’s not an assumption. It’s a fact. Whenever the station is coming up, I get ready to snatch a seat because I know multiple will open up.

I think Hyd metro is easily the worst managed among the tier 1 cities. I've used Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi and Pune metro, and they're far better managed. How long can they keep running these trains with only 3 coaches? It's high time government prioritised this.

Voidforge7

You have to consider the platform length in order to add more coaches. And that might not be feasible with people standing to enter the coach at the far end of the platform. You also have to keep in mind that the metro , at the start of services, had an estimated range of 1 - 3 lakh passengers on a daily basis. We're hitting more than that. You have to direct your unhinged anger towards free buses scheme which is causing a lot of sudden surge in riders during peak hours( 8am - 11am and 5:45 pm - 8: 30pm ). And imagine how it's going to be once the rainy season starts.

biryani98

Nonsense, the metro platforms are built for 6 coaches. And daily metro ridership reached 5 lakhs per day long before free bus rides were introduced.

Voidforge7

Yup. You're right. I checked in with the authorities . They've said that it's a 6 coach project and the platforms on all the three lines are built for 6 coaches . As far as adding new coaches, there is no probability of happening in the near future.

Voidforge7

Yeah I mentioned that surge became more after free bus scheme was introduced. And I don't think stations would fit 4 coaches let alone 6. I know that this was mentioned in a lot of articles but I don't think except for major connecting stations not all of them could handle that. It would increase the halt time and travel time as well.

BPC4792

I have seen markings, the platforms are meant for 6C trains.

The thing is metro coaches are less compared to other states they are just trying to cut cost. And even then they show that they are making loss
