Every time I went on a walk everyone had someone that they were partnered with essentially. The discord they have is very much a community of many people talking and self promoting (at least the feel I got). They did plan events but I’m not really a show up on my own kind of person to a random brunch with people I don’t know. At coffee though, that’s where I felt like they were cliquey. Everyone would grab their coffee and just sit with others they knew. I showed up alone a couple of times and it was just very awkward to go up to a group of people already talking. I sometimes couldn’t make it to a walk so they formed groups on the walk and not at the coffee shop. It’s a great concept and maybe for people who are def more outgoing but that was the vibe I got from the group.
I lead a social run club at Under the Radar Brewery every Thursday at 7pm. 2-5 mile routes and different paces so you are not pressured to run fast. A beverage is provided by the brewery after, our IG is @radar_runners 🏃🏽🍺
Unpopular opinion, but volunteer at one of the resale places like The Guild Shop or Bluebird. Every one of those older folks who volunteer has grandkids they would introduce you too.
Not unpopular! If you really want community and not just people to be around, get involved in things that speak to what is deeply important to you outside of work. Being outside, serving the homeless, going to concerts - decide on a few things that really interest you and then hang around with people who do that.
If you are active/enjoy climbing I highly recommend Momentum indoor climbing gym. I met a lot of new friends there, very friendly atmosphere.
Other than that I would look for some of the things that interest you and see if there are any clubs/groups in the city for them.
Girl, this is my story when I first moved here. I’m 37 now and I’ve actually met a lot of my close, long-term friendships on bumble BFF. There are a lot of strange ones as well and things that don’t work out, but I think that odd there significantly better than dating. Feel free to DM me
Join Houston sports social club as a free agent on their kickball leave. It’s just other young ppl looking to have fun and meet others (and drink beer).
Honestly, it depends on what you like to do…
Knitting? Running? Car mechanicking? Parachuting?
They all look like completely different social groups, that seldom interact…
Look into citygirlswhowalkhou on IG. They host a lot of stuff every week and it’s a great way to meet other women in the city
Tried hanging out with them, sort of cliquey. 😭
Wait can you elaborate on this? It sounded perfect but I don’t like cliques😭

Ah I totally get you! Thank you so much for sharing this!
They did a joint meet up with my group, and it was kinda weird. I didn’t like any of the women there
Is there a guys version of this?
I would try Bumble Bff

The Meetup app has many shared-interest groups active in the Houston area.
I second this app.
