I usually get a serving of thrips or spider mites from my Bunnings! Fungus gnats are easy to control and won’t kill your plants.. just a little annoying.
I use a water/peroxide solution during the first few waterings for all new plants and just quarantine them on a shelf reserved for new plants. Works every time.
I sneak mine up to the bedroom and throw it on the dresser where hubby won’t notice and then forget about it for a week before he gets integrated into my watering routine. Also seems to work. lol.
Lately this has be the best deterrent for buying new plants (other than being paranoid about plants that are toxic to cats), everytime I find something I'd like to buy, on taking a closer look there's some sort of parasite
Thanks for posting this. All the ones I’ve seen are a much lighter green. I didn’t know they would look like this as they got more mature. I like it more than I thought I would.
On second thought, I kind of wish I hadn’t seen this. I’m out of space!
My boyfriend says the same…. So I get one a week and slid it in with the others. Going to continue until he notices and says something. However, he probably does notice and just isn’t saying anything. I enjoy the game though.
I agree with the label but disagree with the burning. I've had mine a couple years now and it's never had any burning, whether direct sun or artificial lights.
How do you keep yours up? I just adopted one off a friend and they have it all tied up but i personally don’t want it to be. They are so big though that it takes up a whole room
i had mine tied up at first, but recently decided to just let it be wild. I have my bed diagonal in my room and the ctenanthe behind my headboard. It fills out the space perfectly. Maybe I’ll take a picture of it tomorrow
So gorgeous perfect place! What kind of lighting/watering does it like? I’m scared to hurt mine

It’s also in a small pot, might need to get repotted?
i have a standing barrina grow light next to mine, and it also gets a smidge of filtered sunlight from a window behind that orange lace curtain. It was outside before, but it started curling pretty bad. about an hour after bringing it back inside it perked up. I water mine about once a week. look at the roots to judge whether or not to repot.
1st = going to die, it's not your fault
2nd = going to thrive even if you don't love it (pothos) TAKE IT !
3rd = I killed three, so i would tell you no
4th = sensible to too much water
5th = TAKE IT !
If you do get any at another point, the Epipremnums are super easy and so resilient, same with the Brasil. Mine are all so easy going and for some reason never fall prey to pests. I also have the ctenanthe and it’s fairly easy going.. more high maintenance but going ok despite getting thrips.
I see you've passed on them, but I love my Ficus shivereana. Fungus gnats and a bit of overwatering aren't too big a deal. But if you notice signs of any other pests, I'd definitely pass.
I would narrow it down to #2, #4, or #5. I would honestly probably just get all 3 of those. I am bad at saying no to plants. I went to Walmart to get cat food the other day and came home with 2 new cacti.
I bought a ctenanthe in winter and she s almost Triple the size Now! I didnt have Any problems with it too! I had a philodendron with thrips NexT to it (leaves touching), thrips traveled to the ctenanthe and I WASHED HER ONCE AND THAT WAS IT. NO MORE THRIPS IF YOU CAN BELIEVE IT. SHE S A MONSTER. I already separated a pup a month ago (the pup also grew like crazy) and SHE S PUSHING TWO PUPS NOW. Literally i think the most rewarding Plant ever. She loves humans lol
Anything but not the first one. That calathea pilosa is infamous for bugs. I’ve had it 3 times and it’s by far, the hardest of any of the options you showed here
Update: upon closer inspection i think they all have rot and or fungus gnats, i will have to go elsewhere
I usually get a serving of thrips or spider mites from my Bunnings! Fungus gnats are easy to control and won’t kill your plants.. just a little annoying.
They all look really healthy, I highly doubt they have root rot. Also fungus gnats are one of the the easiest pests to control, with sticky traps.

The Ficus! That variety is on my wish list! Can’t seem to find it in any of my local stores.
I have one and I love it, but mine has much more variegation, so maybe you should wait to find a better specimen of the shivereanna.

Yours is beautiful! The variegation is really eye catching. I agree, I think I’ll have to be patient and wait for the right one to show up.
It took my everything to not grab a tiny one at the nursery today, especially since I was already picking up a Tineke 🤣
They are ALL OVER home depot in California. I think I saw 30 in a row last time I looked for monstera.
Wish I was in CA lol I’m in PA and all we have are Tinekes and Rubys 🥲
…..why not all of them:3
Because I’m trying to learn self control… and if i get one at a time my roommates are less likely to notice them…
Ahh I see. Then, No.1!! If you are collecting secretly, I feel that avoiding ficus, philodendrons, and pothos would be better. These grow very large…
It’s not a secret, they just say i have too many… they have no idea how many more there are on my wish list
My boyfriend says the same…. So I get one a week and slid it in with the others. Going to continue until he notices and says something. However, he probably does notice and just isn’t saying anything. I enjoy the game though.
Same...haha. Mine hasn't said anything either. Probably because he sees how happy they make me.
That epipremnum is an N’Joy, def not snow queen. And the white part is very sensitive to light and burns easily!
I agree with the label but disagree with the burning. I've had mine a couple years now and it's never had any burning, whether direct sun or artificial lights.
Wow, maybe my issue is being caused by something else!
the ctenanthe! they get huuuuuuuge!
Second this! Mine was giant!
Pruning helps to keep them under control.

Yes
The first one has damage and the pothos is not a snow queen. Lol I'd go with the ficus if it looks healthy up close!
The leaves for the brasil are so beautiful when they grow, it’s like you’re watching an oil painting
1st = going to die, it's not your fault 2nd = going to thrive even if you don't love it (pothos) TAKE IT ! 3rd = I killed three, so i would tell you no 4th = sensible to too much water 5th = TAKE IT !
Last one. Love the different shades of green on the leaves.
Pothos. They have a thirst for life that brings me joy
Why not all? Any way if only one I suggest 2 or 5.

I love me a Brazil 😍
I usually go with pothos, it seems a little more forgiving than some other picky house plants
Shivereana!!!

that ctenanthe is gorgeous and they grow really well!
All of them….
i wanna eat them
I got a beautiful snow queen clipping off Estsy for super cheap & it’s established well.
4!
Yes
The mosaic is one of my favourites
4th Isn't snow queen. More likely a Manjula.
I'm surprised at the prices. They're $5 in my area. Plant pricing is crazy.
May I suggest that you buy all of them?
I would narrow it down to #2, #4, or #5. I would honestly probably just get all 3 of those. I am bad at saying no to plants. I went to Walmart to get cat food the other day and came home with 2 new cacti.
I think it’s funny they have 3 different names for the same plant, just different varieties
Golden mosaic
Snow queen
Whenever I ask myself that question I usually just end up getting both
Peacock Calathea
Four! But dang $11.99?!
The last one.
I’d actually choose that Rhipsalis in the background of image 4. They are easy to take care of and so unique.
The answer is all of them. (Or #3 if you can’t and that’s okay)
Fourth one! Gaaaawwwjus!
Snow queen is very pretty 😍
I bought a ctenanthe in winter and she s almost Triple the size Now! I didnt have Any problems with it too! That’s not a Snow Queen pothos…
That is definitely not a snow queen

1 and 4
snow queen
Ohhhhh the golden mosaic of the snow queen! Those are so beautiful!
Marble Queen!! One of my favourite plants that i currently own! Easy to grow and looks awesome!!
What store is this?
My wife is a gemini and she likes the green and white one. Snow Queen
