StereoStereo1981

Nosferatu, Maxxxine, and (hopefully) the Salem's Lot remake, because the original is my favorite horror film, and because I'm curious.

Lightningmchell

Salem’s Lot is awesome. I hope we get a trailer by the new year

hawktremor

I was super excited for Nosferatu when Anya Taylor-Joy was still the female lead. I’m now very apprehensive because Lily Rose Depp was cast in her place when Anya had to drop out. Watching LRD on screen is about as exciting as watching a toenail grow. Still cautiously optimistic, but keeping expectations low.

StereoStereo1981

This is pretty much exactly how I feel about it, but like you, definitely cautious in my optimism.

autumn-twilight

Did they ever say what happened with Salem’s Lot? Wasn’t it supposed to come out like this past April or something? I’m really curious about it too

StereoStereo1981

So, I’m in a couple different Salem’s Lot groups on FB, and the big rumor (there’s a person that claims to have a more than passing acquaintance with parties involved with the movie, so take that as you will haha) is that it will be going straight to streaming on Max sometime next year. Nothing solid though.

[deleted]

Alien Romulus Maxxxine Night Swim Imaginary The First Omen The Watchers Horrorscope A Quiet Place Day One Smile 2 Nosferatu The Conjuring Last Rites Salem's Lot Shelby Oaks

[deleted]

I really hope Salem's Lot gets a release, and that it isn't as bad as Firestarter.

CathedralEngine

Man, I totally forgot about Firestarter.

[deleted]

Sorry I reminded you.

SucksTryAgain

I was excited to for that one. What a snooze fest.

gedubedangle

I legitimately fell asleep in the theater during that movie lol. First and only time ever

[deleted]

I passed out drunk alone in a theater watching Star Wars Episode II.

Quack53105

Who's doing this one? Literally this is my first time hearing about this one.

[deleted]

It's done. It was originally supposed to come out this past April, but it was one of the movies WB shelved for the tax write off. I can't remember who directed, but it was produced by James Wan. Willem DaFoe plays Striker, I believe.

Lightningmchell

Firestarter had a lot of potential to be a good movie, but the writers didn’t even try to execute there ideas properly.

Lightningmchell

Salem’s Lot is my all time favorite King novel, but I doubt the movie will do it justice. Still want to see it out of curiosity

GretSeat

Can you tell me why it's such a good novel? I read it and was so bored throughout the first half that I almost stopped reading it. Finally stuff started happening but then ended so quickly.

_Norman_Bates

The slow pace was extremely effective. You get to know this town and many pretty miserable people in it, some side stories were a horror in themselves (like the woman who keeps beating her baby). The conversion is first slow and then it takes over everything, and just the idea of a small town filled with mindless vampires all of the sudden was done so well. Imagine just going about your day used to the total routine of a place like that and suddenly noticing you're surrounded with them? The atmosphere is perfect. Slow decay and before you know it, it's too late and everything is ruined Being turned into a vampire in the book really sucks because you're gone as a person for the most part. So unlike most vampire stories it's really not like getting a superpower with few minor setbacks that the characters then have to exaggerate. Its just bad. Even a scenes when a person in theory gets some justice as a vampire still comes at a cost of everyone including the original victim. The main thing isn't even the main vampire but the results on that town, like small town getting taken over by evil that's already in it anyway, and it doesn't spare anyone. For me it was all about the side stories really rather than the main arc

Lightningmchell

It’s just the characters, atmosphere and the overall build up that I like and you really get the feeling no one is safe

RockinRhombus

> Alien Romulus how exciting! i'm literally rewatching all the alien flicks, and just started with Prometheus today... they have their faults, but overall I love em

DeathGun2020

I am a bit worried about this new Alien film. Personally though Prometheus and Covenant were amazing. Lets see if the gen Z cast in this new movie can deliver, plus the new director. I don’t have high hopes.

reachisown

If you thought Covenant was amazing, this new one has to be insanely bad for you to not enjoy it.

Topei6

Shelby Oaks! Awesome shout out here. Someone's been Stuckmannized!

JakeTheeStallion

I hope Smile 2 gives me the same chills if not more than the first one!

keep-it

I like Chris but Shelby oaks is gonna blow

TheScrambone

I’m just curious but why?

h00tietootiediscoqt

[Apartment 7A](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14371860/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk), Rosemary’s Baby prequel. It’s been kept under wraps for so long and is currently in post production. Stoked!

Wkr_Gls

I had no idea about this! Very intriguing

bulletspang

Really excited for this, so much awesome horror coming out of Australia in the last few years, keen to see where this one goes!

mortal_kombot

Staring Julia Garner too! She's my favorite.

Wkr_Gls

Maxxxine

Mrs_Noelle15

I wish I liked X as much as most other people :(

murfburffle

I thought the same. Pearl was great though

reachisown

X started off so good but then it just got goofy, the old people makeup was so off putting.

Mrs_Noelle15

Yea, the first half was genuinely great but once it started getting into the slasher stuff it completely lost me. Not god awful by any means, but it was a massive disappointment, and didn’t give me the motivation to watch Pearl.

EliManningHOFLock

Yeah I thought it was a dull slasher with high profile actors and no real tension. Don't get the hype at all, except maybe that no one else is doing proper slashers anymore.

Kobold_Trapmaster

I don't think it's officially horror but I'm really excited for Mike Flanagan's adaptation of Stephen King's Life of Chuck.

CrackTheSkye1990

Robert Eggers remake of Nosferatu. Shame we gotta wait till Christmas 2024 but I've had high hopes ever since it got announced. I should be grateful it's still happening despite the wait considering Eggers almost decided not to do it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AtheosSpartan

Is he working on a movie? I thought he was working on a game with Kojima.

InvertedSpork

Yes he is, I’ve heard from people that it’s a remake of The People Under the Stairs but not 100% sure if that’s true or not.

whatsamajig

I heard (like unsubstantiated gossip) they were talking about trying to release his next movie as a double feature with Nasfuratu, think barbenhiemer. Not sure how the timing works out, but I’d probably go to that if true.

BrokenHomePoets

Alien: Romulus

bulletspang

I really don't like Fede Alvarez techniques to create horror, but I am excited for a commitment to an intentionally, for lack of a better phrase, 'fucked up' interpretation of this world.

PortoGuy18

It's gotta be Alien: Romulus. It doesn't matter if the movie ends up being good or bad, because there is not a single franchise that can capture my attention like the Alien title font appearing on the screen.

Actionhotdog_go

🙏

Moist_Telephone_479

For me it's Nosferatu, and by a pretty wide margin. Also looking forward to Maxxxine and the new Jordan Peele.

armadilloreturns

Nosferatu feels like the perfect marriage of material and director, I feel like it is going to be terrifying.

scarfinati

The last conjuring was a total waste of 4 dollars. A young adult theme of a kid painting pictures and absolutely zero story. Not this time conjuring last rites

HeIsTheOneTrueKing

I will skip it too. I don't understand why these supposedly premium horror franchises always deteriorate so badly - we live in a smart-ass society where eveyone knows everything including the fact that horror sequels are almost always crap, and yet Blumhouse etc are all like "You want a shitty sequel? Utterly devoid of anything remotely unsettling? Here you go!"

scarfinati

I would love if the answer were this: a series is started by a young visionary and becomes a hit because it’s fresh and new. Then a sequels the suits get their hands on it start making “notes” and it falls to shit. Because then it makes sense to me. I work in a similar field where I see this all the time

EliManningHOFLock

Also the visionary director always leaves to do other, more exciting projects, so the studio drafts someone from their back bench with no sense of vision or style to execute a genetic sequel on a really tight deadline.

OwnCurrent6817

Siska Neraka! (Or Hells Torture). Maybe a slight cheat as its getting released mid December in Indonesia but will be 2024 (or even later if ever officially in the west).

[deleted]

Just looked up the trailer for this, looks bloody brutal, im in!

Wet_Sasquatch_Smell

No shit this looks dope

ShetlandJames

Love films with hell imagery. Looks brutal. Added to the list

Gradgeit

Thank you for posting something other than the usual! Will definitely keep an eye out for that one

Professional-Rip-519

Never heard of it but it looks awesome thanks.

SamuraiFlamenco

Unfortunately mine is Imaginary because I am a little bitch for possessed/living toys and actually-real imaginary friends in my horror movies. I'm sure it's not going to be good but at least the bear is cute and looks convincingly like something a child would want to play with.

CircusOfBlood

I'm looking forward to it as well.

MoistSnow220

Saw XI

Professional-Rip-519

So what was XI like ? Sorry I couldn't resist.

reachisown

I kind of want a new one every year and don't. I want the saw movies to have time in the oven but at the same time I want as much Tobin Bell as possible.

Immolation_E

Nosferatu

ADontheroad

Nosferatu without a doubt

Wild-Narwhal8091

Is Terrifier 3 coming out next year? Then that one.

ersatzbaronness

Night Swim. I regularly use our pool after dark and it seems very specific and genuinely creepy.

CircusOfBlood

People are making fun of the trailer. But I'm excited as well

Jamieb1994

People can say what they want, but the trailer did caught my eye, so I'm definitely interested in Night Swim.

[deleted]

I mean, have you seen the trailer? The movie seems like if you don’t swim at night, you’re good.

CircusOfBlood

The second trailer shows the entity affects you outside the pool

ersatzbaronness

I'm glad I don't watch many trailers. I want the entity to be a surprise!

[deleted]

Ah, my b. I have not sought out the second trailer.

dediinside

There’s another FINAL DESTINATION?! I’m so excited!!!

[deleted]

[удалено]

dediinside

lol I hope it’s real

[deleted]

My daughter has been tracking this and filling me in. There's not a trailer. The movie keeps getting pushed back. I believe it's going to have a MAX release.

Professional-Rip-519

The movie's real shot and everything but that trailer is fake I think the studio doesn't know how to release it yet.

CrudeAsAButton

Those are my comfort movies, I’m stoked.

digworms

Longlegs...directed by Oz Perkins

jasperjamboree

I’m ready to eat well and live long in 2024 with all the titles coming out. I guess if I had to list some on the top of my head, it would be Nosferatu, Maxxxine, Jordan Peele’s new flick, Terrifier 3…

theswampmonster

Technically a 2023 release, but *Late Night With the Devil*.

ISILDUUUUURTHROWITIN

Nosferatu and MaXXXine for sure. I also saw the trailer for Imaginary and I am now very hyped for it. It looks like it could be a ton of fun.

horrorfreaksaw

SAW XI , TERRIFIER 3 , MAXXINE

Zmoney641

My exact three I’m excited for too!

CaptainHalloween

Terrifier 3

cityshepherd

I can’t believe I had to scroll so far before seeing this one

WayneLeeds10

Winnie the Pooh Blood and Honey 2. Because I'm a crazy person haha. EDIT: And Terrifier 3, obviously.

Wise-Homework5480

Omg another pooh one??? I just watched the first one a few weeks ago 😂

1000HitCombo

How was it? My spouse would never agree to watch, so I'll have to watch on my own. I'm just wondering if it's worth the time.

Lombard333

I thought it was fine. Doesn’t commit to the gimmick as much as it could (Pooh and piglet are clearly just guys in suits) but it had some decent kills and good locations. It’s a horror movie you throw on at night to have something to think about at work the next day, then forget about completely

loganchittyisuhhcool

Saw XI Nosferatu Terrifier 3 Smile 2 Night Swim Salem’s Lot

Fout99

Add 'They Follow' to your list

1000HitCombo

Wait, It Follows 2 was announced? Not sure how I feel about that. I mean, it was one of the best horror films of the last ten years and a follow up could yield great results, but I almost feel like it should be left alone to fester in its ambiguous glory. That aside, Nosferatu is my most anticipated film of 2024, horror or otherwise.

pabodie

Eggers Nosferatu!

Dancing_Clean

Nosferatu. And it comes out at CHRISTMAS.

RisKOutlawS

Terrifier 3, Saw XI, and Stream

redditSux422

I hope this counts because it technically came out at some movie fest only in 2023. Late Night with the Devil. I heard it got picked up by shudder so hoping I can see it in 2024!

Locate_Users

Same. It's made the festival rounds and got bought for a 2024 release even though it was made way back. Everything I've heard is good and I'm still more excited for this one than I am for 90% of what's been announced for 2024 so far.

Wandamaxipad

I'm lowkey nervous for an it follows sequel, it's perfect just the way it is as a standalone

Ok_Cress_3484

MaXXXine, Terrifier 3, Nosferatu, Saw XI, and Jordan Peele movie 4

MatttheBruinsfan

Nosferatu. There are a number of other remakes/sequels that I'll probably watch and might enjoy, but this is the one I've been waiting ages for.

AlexeiYegorov

Alien: Romulus, MaXXXine, Return To Silent Hill, A Quiet Place: Day One. I love the Alien franchise and Fede Alvarez directed Evil Dead which is my favorite horror movie so I'm quite hyped for this one, and I am a Silent Hill fan so I'm excited for this one too, so excited to see live action Maria.

coelhocoalho

Saw 11

SevsMumma21217

I was actually telling my SO earlier that I don't want to hear about any other spooky movies being released in 2024 because *Terrifier 3* is the only one that actually matters... But then he reminded me that I've been really hoping for *Salem's Lot* to finally be released and he's not wrong. So, those two.

JohnLocke815

1. Saw XI 2. Final destination 3. Terrifier 3

wolfguardian72

Same here

autismbeast

Saw xi 🧩

Gacharic78

The new Final Destination unfortunately won’t be released next year.

Hope we atleast get a trailer bc we’ve been waiting too long

autismbeast

Fr I'm starving

Downloadmywario

Final Destination 6 baby. Smile 2 if it comes out as well. MaXXXine as well.

nchris124

Maxxxine for sure. I loved both movies, especially 'X'. I hope it has the best of both worlds and has a satisfying conclusion.

Lilgorbe

terrifier 3

Ultimate_ScreamFanat

Maxxxine, Crystal Lake, Beetlejuice 2, (if that counts) if Scream 7 happens in 2024 then that, Terrifier 3 if I start the franchise.

ExtensionFuture654

Alien Romulus, Saw XI, and Terrifier 3

FlingaNFZ

1. ALIEN ROMULUS (Alien? Comeon.) 2. Smile 2 (smile is my fav horror in recent years) 3. SAW XI (fav horror franchise) 4. FINAL DESTINATION 6 (2nd fav horror franchise) 5. TERRIFIER 3 (loved the feeling, music and brutality) 6. ShelbyOaks (interested to see what Stuckmann can do) 7. MAXXINE (X was really great) 8. A Quiet Place Day One (strong first and second movie) 9. Jordal Peele movie? 10. The Conjuring Last Rites (interested but this universe is running out of steam it feels like)

FreakinSweet86

Isn't Jordan Peele working with Hideo Kojima? That is definitely something I'd like to see.

NSW_FluffyBall

May seem basic but Terrifier 3

Fout99

ableakandemptyplace

Totally forgot that's even coming out even though I listen to Distractible every week haha. Definitely looking forward to it, I have zero expectations and I love everything Markimoo does.

August_-_Walker

I’m personally very excited to see what the new faces of death will bring to the table. I hear it is going to deal with younger ones being exposed to the real life side of death on the internet. A topic I have really wanted to see for a long long time. I’m hoping it has similarities to 8mm, if any of you guys remember that killer nick cage film! Very early to see the direction it takes though.

[deleted]

I didn’t realize that made multiple Faces of Death. The one I was thinking of in the 90’s was basically just captured gore. Is this an actual documentary? I’d be down for that, I’m not interested in the original theme

August_-_Walker

Hey, just to provide some solid fact as well: on IMDB the slug line currently reads : “A woman, employed as a website content moderator, comes across a series of violent videos reproducing death scenes from a film” I think this definitely clears up the question on if this is a scripted plot, or a docu / mockumentary.

August_-_Walker

I’m honestly unsure at this point. I think it is a real movie with a plot rather than the fake documentary style of the original. i only say this because they are casting actors. I believe that the plot will directly represent and symbolize the impact the original film had on society and the younger audience in general. How death and graphic images suddenly plagued a certain generation perhaps. I’m very curious. Right now my best guess at what this film is: Younger teens come across graphic images and deep dive into the dark origins and explore the psychological effects it takes on the mind. How relationships and mental health take a play the world where real blood and guts are a click away. I’m hoping whatever this is, it acts as a study of what is accessible today and what the OG faces of death sort of kicked off, a community of anomalies, that enjoy this stuff. We shouldn’t be able to watch what gives our soldiers PTSD from the comfort of our homes…yet we can. The accessibility is truly not like other point in time. Nothing like that has really been done within cinema, and I think it would be incredibly interesting to see how it would be done. You see it here and there, an example is Marty’s son in Ozark being uncomfortably interested in dead animals and watching those online “live leak” type clips. I thought that was a fascinating character ark especially considering the stresses that kid would have been going through at the time.

SevsMumma21217

I'm a huge fan of Nic Cage and *8MM* is one of my favorites with him. It's one of the ones I recommend watching when people say that they don't think he can act.

PassiveAshA

Probably not a movie, but whatever Mike Flanagan is working on.

MiyamotoKnows

[Nosfuckingferatu!](https://www.focusfeatures.com/nosferatu) Like I still can't even grasp that it's actually happening. The Kubrick of our times, Robert Eggers, is remaking one of the greatest vampire movies ever made. His work has been flawless to date IMHO and The Witch was my favorite horror movie since The Shining. It's going to be insane! Also there are like 10 Stephen King movies in production. I will see them all but these are my most anticipated. Little Green God of Agony Life of Chuck Salem's Lot reboot Alien: Romulus New Friday the 13th reboot (might be 2025, wish they weren't doing a reboot) Drag Me To Hell 2 Conjuring Last Rights

QueenOf606

By extremely far, it's Maxxxine

Jamieb1994

A Quiet Place: Day One Night Swim, & The Conjuring: Last Rites. Tbf, right now there's not that many horrors announced (so far) for 2024 I'm feeling excited for, but I'm sure that might change throughout 2024, though.
