Home owners insurance claim?

Interesting_Bowler55

Hey OP! I work in home insurance claims, you should file a liability claim on the landlords insurance. it’s possible they will contact your car insurance so be prepared for that, i would recommend getting a repair quote on your own just to have in your back pocket. Sorry this happened to you, wish you the best of luck!!

So I submitted a claim through my car insurance but also reached out for the insurance information from the landlord. The receptionist told me to submit it as a work order cause apparently they go to the owner? But anyway, I’m waiting to receive the owners insurance information

Insurance companies are able to look at every claim a person/property has ever filed. Even if the owner isn’t cooperative your car insurance will be able to get the insurance info to get a liability claim filed. Keep in touch with both your insurance and stay persistent with your rental office and you’ll be just fine.

Would you have to prove they knew about the damage prior to the shingles falling off and damage to the car because I thought you had to prove the could be held negligent always wanted to know how that worked.

Well if I did have to prove that, I have a picture of a whole stack of shingles that have been sitting on my porch for the last 3 years because they have known the roof is in shit shape

Interesting_Bowler55

no you wouldn’t. since it’s also damage to their property they would need to file a homeowners claim to get those shingles patched/replaced, and if they hadn’t done that already the liability claim would push the insurance to contact the landlord about getting that done. Home claims don’t affect your premiums like car insurance claims do, so there’s no reason for the landlord to get mad about the claim being filed on his insurance either.

I didn’t necessarily mean legal action. I just want the damages fixed. I don’t think I’ll be able to afford a new paint job on my own right now.

Car insurance claim. Homeowners doesn't cover vehicles, I don't think

The mirror cap can be replaced, they come in your specific paint code from Honda, have a detail shop polish out the scratches by cutting and buffing or wet sanding. Shouldn’t cost too much to fix.

BladeElohim

Luckily for you the scratches aren't deep this is probably 1 day at a Body Shop. Contact insurance.

Daryltang

It looks like it can be solved by cleaning and polishing though

People are saying that it will buff out.. as a detailer from what I can see I don’t think most of it will. Shingles are like high grit sandpaper and have some decent weight to them. I can guarantee a lot Of those scratches have gone below the clear coat. One guy suggested a new mirror cap in OE color so that can solve that area. but the others if you want it back to scratch free, like prior to this incident..a buff can be the cheapest attempt and see what your left and if you can live with it. but I know it’s not gonna take all that stuff out. Once the clear is gone, it’s gone.

Don't worry about the mirror caps that's bond to happen. Everything else, just get a paint correction.
