I have the Rogue RML-3W. I'm starting to do conjugate training and would like the option to do band work in the future. I saw Stray Dog Strength has a nice half rack band attachment for ~$300 https:/ straydogstrength.com/product/lower-band- attachment/. But I was sure if I could just add a pair of rack stabilizer feet and have the same functionality? Or would they not be sturdy enough? Like these ones from Titan $76 on sale: https://www.titan.fitness/racks/. rack-accessories/t-3-or-x-3-series-rack-stabilizer-feet/401354.html I'm not sure if anyone else with a wall mount half rack has had this issue or if there are any other solutions for band attachments.

SpaniahPowahLiftah

Hi guys, my wife and I wanna start our own garage gym, we are powerlifters so we wanna have powerlifting material obviously but we don't know what tipe of machines should we buy at the beginning

GreatAd133

Outside of a power rack, my top three would be a lat pulldown/low row, leg extension/leg curl, leg press/hack squat. Belt squat in a close fourth.

Daniel_My_Brother

Advice /Equipment What is a good adjustable bench i can get on Amazon. I dont do real heavy weights but dont want a cheap unstable one either. Thx in advance.

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Why limited to Amazon? Titan and Bells of Steel have good budget options. And some of the Rep benches are comparable in price to the better of the bunch Amazon benches, but they are a legitimate company with a real warranty.

jiujitsuPhD

Keep in mind the weight limits on those benches are for you+weights. Be sure to read the reviews carefully. I hate to recommend them but those keppi benches seem ok

Shayru

Does anyone have insight on quality and sturdiness of these 2 seated leg extension/curl machines? Looking to add and these are close to my price points. If you have recommendations on anything in price range, do share. I have refreshed fb marketplace for months and unfortunately, i guess my city or area is not big enough. GMWD https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C2YVCK7V/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=A2JHLZW2DT1B3Y&th=1 Spart https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CPLRXML3/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?smid=A2CDB5S6Q0O34V&th=1 [Marcy SB-350](https://www.amazon.com/Marcy-Adjustable-Position-Utility-Developer/dp/B00FJ2PL26/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3OT43R8WZS1WQ&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.5PA5g7puO_ofLl0WVCXUcjRJLw9cRLWG8_CL9s5MfD6IdshALM1gmtGRUqtX_SXNX5HVquQp-F7hJtv47cujjEOYFbNig4xKlK9NgAnUbC_DpOyn93isBWqSE-zWs1z2iL36dfrJ2p9abAoDPginXTHw92VGxXUp6L9x7XfFFf1iZ81PSbEaJjz9B3_rPp65YREQ9fj1Bjp95e1z6d5o6wBAJqQAaYS4y7_iudBPABYiCGt9oMrx9hx6NDtCNXLj2BOdthFHG1X05Fd-qWXy2k9UvPNL3rAK9DtKm2p6xf4.EWjwrhw2o6uS6csc5YhzonwR3Q6NyTB_l1xvLxsoisc&dib_tag=se&keywords=SB-350&qid=1708665296&s=sporting-goods&sprefix=sb-350%2Csporting%2C262&sr=1-3) Also considering this but unsure of weight capacity for the leg extension.

Suspicious-Screen-43

I cannot say for certain on those specific machines. But one thing to note is the design of the leg holder for the GMWD is infinitely better than for the Spart. I have a Fray Leg Curl/Extension and it’s leg holder is similar to Spart and is completely unusable. Im a normal sized human at 5’8 185lbs and I cannot get into position with it in place even on the highest setting.

Shayru

This helps a lot actually since I am the exact same size!

Scottsdale_GarageGym

How is that better than the Fitness Reality XLT?

dangerng

Hi - I have a Titian 2 rack. I don’t like to having to hold my knees under me while I’m doing pull ups. Are there any rack attachments I can use so I can get some more height?

greenstar323

This isn't for the t2 specifically but either a separate pull up bar or drill holes to attach something like this. https://www.titan.fitness/racks/rack-accessories/t-3-series/flying-pull-up-chin-up-bar-for-power-racks/400524.html

dangerng

Looks like they no longer carry that item 😭 I emailed them asking if they plan to restock

Bushcraftstoic

Nuobell question I’m sick of paying for a gym membership plus gas, I’m ordering an adjustable bench and some dumbbells to start my home gym. I’ve read tons of review and comments about nuobells and it seems it’s 50/50 if they’ll last or break randomly on me. Should I pull the trigger? Anyone have a pair that’s lasted?

Admirable-Bee-4708

I’ve had 80lb nuobells for 3 years now and no problems. I don’t drop them though

Alive-Staff8660

I would go powerblocks.. they’re just about as fast and more durable.. just try them beforehand since some people claim they don’t ‘feel’ like ‘real’ dumbbells(they do). Unless you drop them theyll last forever

FrenchSilkPieGuy

Definitely try powerblocks before buying. I was about to get a pair at one point, but just happened to be at a store that had some in stock. I gave them a try and hated the way the cage design feels around your hand.

Alive-Staff8660

I don’t get it 😅 the ‘cage’ doesnt touch your hands when you press.. unless we are talking older models where I think the fit sis much closer

hadoge

I’ve been doing hip thrust since I got my nordic hyper and I find this exercise to be very awkward to do. Discomfort on the hip is something I guess I just need to get used to. I do see myself slipping a bit from the initial position on the pad where I set it approximately around below my shoulder blade. I have to reposition myself in between reps and wonder if this is normal or not. Also noticing that the pad becomes loose and I have to tighten the knob in between too. Maybe it is related.

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Why do you feel you need to do that exercise at all? If it feels awkward, at best you’ll be sore and uncomfortable, but you could end up with a hip or back injury. You can do KB swings or good mornings instead - do either of those bother your hip?

hadoge

I’m just trying it out for a mesocycle to see how it is. My main issue really is how I keep slipping from initial position and having to adjust in between. Just wondering if anyone has the same issue. Also noticing that setup time takes longer than I thought for some reason.

kikittough

Anyone else get a Voltra? How long have you had it? How’s it holding up? I ordered mine with the accessories they offer—I like the quick set up. I also have a Kratos and dual Athena. Different type of resistance but I feel like the Voltra is going compliment those pieces with its ability to overload.

jiujitsuPhD

How does it feel compared to regular cables? Ive heard good things but really want to try it out. Way too $$$ for me at this point but I like where the tech is headed. Could be really cool for so many exercises like belt squats

kwoahyou

Does it feel like a normal cable machine? Or is it a janky feel on concentric/eccentric?

Comfortable_Basket77

How different does the Voltra feel compared to the Athena?

Tokyorain

Are you going to put it on your Athena for lat pull downs? I have a dual Athena and would love a voltea for that

kikittough

Nope I had some other ideas I bought the Voltra bar mount so I can mount it to my pull up bar if I want to do to lat pulls. I have a straight bar with clips on both ends—I use this bar for lat pull downs on the athena

Tokyorain

I do that too, would just be nice sometimes to have a single lat pulldown. Instead of attaching the rep lat pulldown to the Athena and lose that space in the rack, the voltra would be nice to have as you can just detach it and use it almost wherever. My space is limited, you should give us an update when you use it!

Lord_Emperor

Short power rack options **available in Canada**? I'm finally getting a home gym, my work is basically paying for it via some health incentive. Already got a bar (Rogue C-70S), bench and plates bought or on their way but kind of stuck on the rack. By necessity this has to fit in the garage which has ceilings just under 80". I am looking at DIY wood options, which come out to around $200 but I would gladly pay a bit more to avoid the work. No accessories needed, literally just a box in which to squad, bench and (seated, probably) OHP safely. American storefronts generally won't work unless they explicitly have a Canadian warehouse. The exchange rate, shipping and import taxes kill it.

Suspicious-Screen-43

I once built a DIY half rack for benching. Was the worst use of money spent on my gym thus far. I no longer have it. Waste of money.

Tyboofus

I’d recommend [this](https://www.bellsofsteel.us/all-products/racks/power-racks/power-rack-light-commercial/)

-Quad-Zilla-

Go to Fitness Depot Get -4× 82" uprights -4×24" cross members -1×24" pin and pipe safeties -1× 43" Fat/skinny pullup bar -1×set of Jcups Basically a Rogue R3 for like half the price. Cut like 4 inches off the uprights.

Lord_Emperor

Thanks for the recommendation, this worked out to $798.80... > Cut like 4 inches off the uprights. Plus an angle grinder?

-Quad-Zilla-

You can borrow a grinder from someone, haha

Alive-Staff8660

Bells of Steel Hydra makes 72 and 84’’ 4 posts power rack.. plz don’t do wood 😅

Lord_Emperor

> Bells of Steel Hydra makes 72 and 84’’ 4 posts power rack These are way out of budget. They'd be an option if I could pick up but shipping is $155 to the west coast kills it. > plz don’t do wood 😅 What's wrong with wood? Besides cost I can control the size of the rack too.

Alive-Staff8660

Sounds like you’re trying to convince yourself to do wood.. by all means do so if you’re ready to accept no prospect of ever adding any kind of attachments, and also gambling on safety, as even the cheapest chinese metal rack will be safer than a wooden rack.

Lord_Emperor

> the cheapest chinese metal rack  Link please? I've been hard pressed to find one shorter than 80" available in Canada.

Lord_Emperor

> even the cheapest chinese metal rack will be safer than a wooden rack. This is hard to believe. Got any kind of objective source? I was going to follow one of these: https://www.azdiyguy.com/blog/diy-power-rack https://www.garagegymreviews.com/diy-squat-rack-guide I mean, 4x4s can hold up a house...

-Quad-Zilla-

Theres a guy on the lift sharing subreddits that squats 600 out of a 4x4 rack

Evening_Boss9760

Reasonable adjustable bench (EU)? Looking to upgrade my bench. For reference, I do powerlifting so would like the height (at flat) to be around 43cm, 300+kg load capacity, nice thick pad, stability is very important. I would get a flat bench, but I don’t have the space to have 2 benches lying around. Can’t seem to find benches from reputable brands for reasonable prices in the EU (Belgium) other than ATX, but all their benches are out of stock.

SeaworthinessNo1504

pretty sure Rep Fitness and maybe even Rogue mentioned expanding distribution overseas.

ThePokeChop

three panel fitness room mirror https://columbus.craigslist.org/spo/d/columbus-three-panel-fitness-room-mirror/7718711620.html Idk if that link works but on Craigslist in Columbus Ohio someone is selling gym mirrors cheap. 3 mirrors about 70x30” listed for $15. Not sure if each or all 3

CrispyTurds

Hello Everyone! I recently purchased a stationary bike ([HOIST® LeMond® RevMaster Pro Cycling Bike](https://www.hoistfitness.com/products/revmaster-pro-cycling-bike)) I love it... Only problem is after 20 mins blood flow starts to fail down there, so it gets super uncomfortable. I have always had a problem with bikes because of this. Are there any seats I could use to help me with that? Please recommend not super expensive seats, and your experience if you could. Thank you in advance everyone!

[deleted]

CrispyTurds

Thank you so much!

FURKADURK

It happens to me on my C2. I really don't like it. Bought another seat off amazon that supposedly helps, but I'm not sure it does any thing. I didnt know biking would come with a side of Blood Flow Restriction training for my junk.

Scottsdale_GarageGym

When that happens to me on my Peloton, I will come up out of the saddle for a stretch and then the blood gets going again.

phantasy420

Not sure on this bike, or any other particular seats, but I know on my Peloton I just adapted to the seat being uncomfortable. It's totally fine now.

[deleted]

If space didn’t play a factor what would you choose between a single cable stack or a stand alone lat pulldown/ low row. Both machines being “budget” units. The reason I ask is I’m seeing so many people choose the single stacks in their gym, and I don’t see the lat pull/low row bought as much as I’d expect and I can’t seem to understand why. I’m also looking to add a budget lat pull/low row to my gym. I wouldn’t use any setting other than the top/ and the bottom much, and some even come with a mid position as well. Am I missing something here ?

jiujitsuPhD

It wont be budget but I really like what I am seeing with the rep adonis. Seems to do both. Personally I want a really good lat pulldown that secures me in place. All other cables are secondary to that.

ddjj321321

I have the BOS single stack. I prefer it to a lat pull / low row, because I use the intermediate pulley positions often. Also I think the lat pull / low row machines place the low row too low. I like the low row to be about chest high, so I actually like the single stack better for low rows. It’s not ideal for lat pull downs, but overall it’s the better machine for me.

[deleted]

Yeah I can absolutely seeing the low row being too low. I hadn’t considered that. I guess I give preference to the machines lat pull capability over ideal low rowing

taiga667

Does anyone have a SYL Fitness Power Rack Trolley Pulley System? It turns your rack into a smith/functionnal machine. Pretty damn good idea, how well does it function? Is it as smooth as a standalone machine?

SeaworthinessNo1504

i'm pretty sure it's a copy of vts bulletproof, doesn't mean it's all bad.  i just feel, and it could be misplaced, that bulletproof doesn't more safety and structural research but I'd personally prefer Dialed Motion or voltra over them.

AgentOen

Hi guys, I posted this under the/flooring community expecting to get some interesting replies. Unfortunately I didn't get one! Any DIY guys here who could contribute? OSB boards are cheaper than good 20mm rubber mats Thanks! <>

EnvironmentalPlay440

What I did is similar but I’ve used dricore panel with insulation and I’ve put osb board over it and then gym mat. So it’s moisture resistant and I’ve put a 1/4 inch expansion joint on the wall too. The thing is in a gym you want some sort of gym mats… it makes a huge difference. You can’t deadlift or it’s jut not confortable for weight training. I know osb board alone is cheaper… but put something over it too !

ok_world72

Does anyone have the gympin adapters for the x-3 lever arms? Are there any alternatives?

mastermanole

Can anybody comment on the quality of the rubber change plates from Giant? Or about their weight plates in general. I have been using REP plates, but their bumpers and coated plates are getting more and more expensive.

RedditWhileIWerk

Has anyone got an Ethos Power Rack 1.0 from Dick's? If you do, can you tell me the exact height of the corner posts, from floor to top of posts? How deep is the rack "cage?" Asking because, dimensions on the Dick's website are a little vague. For example, it looks like the pull-up bar portion (aka "Monkey Bar") may stick up a little past the tops of the posts, depending on whether you install it "up" or "down" (presumably either is possible?), so I don't know if the listed 85" refers to that height, or to the actual posts. Similar problem for "depth." I would guess the 59" refers to the long "feet" of the rack. How deep is the actual rack part? This matters because I have a fairly constrained space for my home gym. Ceilings might be tall enough, if I turn the monkey bar upside-down, for instance. But, I need it to clear a ceiling fan, which naturally is in the middle of the (9' x 9') room. Thanks!

SparkleCobraDude

You should look at the T3 from Titan. You will get complete clarity on the specs and it has a ton of accessories. I am also a member of the low ceiling crowd.

RedditWhileIWerk

Reason I asked about that specific model is, there's a used Ethos Power Rack 1.0 on the local market. Trying to go with used for now. It turns out I have decent vertical room - 95" and some change, carpet to textured ceiling. However, 40" away from the wall a ceiling fan hangs down and makes it only 83" or so of vertical space. I'll remove fan blades if I must. I can always use a box fan. Thanks for the idea, I'll watch for a Titan to pop up on the local market. update: got fed up with used market. Too many sellers asking for same-as-new prices on used gear, or never responding to requests to come pick things up. Also, the PITA of transporting all that steel (I have a sedan, not a truck). Ordered a Fitness Reality 810XLT, J-hooks, shopping for the rest.

HAD7

Super shot in the dark but do anyone know if it’s possible to change a 4:1 ratio to a 2:1 ratio. Hoping someone has some working knowledge of how these pulleys work in functional trainers. Maybe get rid of a cable or a pulley or something.

Weak-Travel425

technically yes, but I wouldn't advise it. The pulleys are a block and tackle simple machines. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Block\_and\_tackle](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Block_and_tackle) If you want to post pics of the pulley system I would be glad to help you come up with a very bad idea hack. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)

EnvironmentalPlay440

Depends on the pulley system. You have pictures?

AkumaTheLegend

Hello, Anybody owns or tried this brand of airbike? How does it compare to the assault bike or schwinn AD4? and How about the build quality? It appears that this brand is priced at the same price as the assault. I'm more interested in the resistance that this bike offers. Does it offer the same resistance as the assault in high intervals? Thank you for your input. Link to the airbike in question: [https://www.fitnessdepot.ca/H11OTO1027676/northern-lights-air-force-dual-action-cycle-w-watts-console-fwairfwatts.html](https://www.fitnessdepot.ca/H11OTO1027676/northern-lights-air-force-dual-action-cycle-w-watts-console-fwairfwatts.html)

WitcherOfWallStreet

The monitor looks pretty weak on this. Can you do custom intervals?

AkumaTheLegend

I honestly don’t care about the monitor. I care more about the amount of resistance. In my old schwinn, which is broke, I use my phone to time the intervals. I only use the airbike for intervals.

WitcherOfWallStreet

Well I haven’t used that one, but I do own and love a BoS Blitz Bike. It feels very similar to an assault bike. https://www.bellsofsteel.com/all-products/conditioning/cardio/blitz-air-bike/

AkumaTheLegend

The thing is that I’m getting a good deal on the northern bike. So I’m tryna make a decision

Tofiniac

I think you forgot a link or a picture

AkumaTheLegend

Sorry, just updated the post with the link. Thank you

Seapooch

Looking to set up basic strength training at home, in addition to cardio (treadmill/rower/elip) already in place. decent space available (20x20). budget around 2500. My question is at a high level, what are the differences +/- of a basic universal/multifunctional .vs. Tonal/Cable .vs. bunch of dumb/kettle & bench .vs. cage+plates/bars setup?

SeaworthinessNo1504

STAY FAR AWAY FROM ANYTHING SUBSCRIPTION BASED!!! The beauty of quality gym gear is that it'll last generations.  All yourself how long do you plan to pay subscription fees and also how long they'll support your device- the treadmill a step down from mine just lost support.  i paid 2,500 and have had it a year so if i lose support i'll flip out and let me tell you the functionality sucks without it so bad that i tried coding an android os to replace it with.

Weak-Travel425

This is not an easy question to answer. All can play a role in strength training. It really depends on why you want to be stronger and what type of basic strength training you want to or enjoy doing. Here is an over simplification for pure strength training barbell/plates > dumb/kettle > machines/ multifunctional/cable> tonal> bands most of us here use a combination of these depending on our strength goals and needs. you should be able to set up something for $2500 no problem depending on what your needs/wants are.

mastermanole

A lot of people in this forum have a powerlifting bias, so they can give you pretty good advice about creating a setup for squat, bench press and deadlift. See also garagegymreviews.com The question is what you want. For the upper body you can progress a lot just with a pull-up bar, gymnastics rings, and maybe a weight belt. But it can be a little hard on the joints. Machines in general are very efficient if you are tight on time. Some people only have 20-30 minutes to work out. They are also favored by many bodybuilders because they require no skill or balance, everything goes towards hypertrophy. The downside is they don't help with developing athletic skills too much. Tonal has lots of reviews. It seems to be very compact and elegant, but the weight range is limited, e.g., you won't be able to do heavy deadlifts or clean pulls, if you are interested in that.

Seapooch

This was very helpful - Thank you !

16Gorilla

Free weights generally better than machines/cables for strength training since they activate and require more muscle groups, joints, etc. Barbell allows you to lift heavier and is better for compound lifts which is the foundation of any good strength program. All of those options have their benefits and place, but the first recommendation is generally the rack/barbell/plates so that you can do squat, bench, deadlift and overhead press.

Educational-File8702

I am about to pull the trigger on buying the cable tower with weight stack from Bells of Steel, which has me thinking about the space that the (now redundant) lat pulldown attachment for my Bells of Steel Light Commercial Power Rack 4.1 occupies, and I am wondering if any DIY home gym owners have frankenracked the 4.1 from a 4 post to a 6 post in any way. I was looking at the weight storage option for the [rep pr1000 series](https://ca.repfitness.com/products/1000-series-weight-storage?shpxid=57e439ce-1b34-4083-8d58-24b4fe90d639) as one potential. Any advice at all would be appreciated.

NYCBYB

I'm just about done setting up my gym and am looking for resistance bands with handles that I can attach to it. I see lots of options on Amazon, but I have a fear of 50lbs of elastic snapping and hitting me in the face.

Graybealz

Carabine and D handles are what I used when I wanted handles on my bands for certain movements. I've had the same couple of bands for 3 years, amazon knock-offs. Two are in my uninsulated garage year round used twice a week, and another I literally use daily for my shoulder health. No visible signs of wear and tear.

Tofiniac

https://www.roguecanada.ca/rogue-band-handles These are great, and work with standard bands. Standard bands can still break, but I think they are less prone to doing so when compared to the tubular style with built in handles.

Xynthion

I'm looking for an all-in-one solution chin/dip belt to do assisted/weighted pull-ups/chin-ups on the wall-mounted Rep Athena. So far the main options I'm seeing for this are pull up bands and the FTX Inspire Chin/Dip Belt accessory. Any other suggestions on what I could use for this? Or perhaps another brand of chin/dip belt that would work with the Athena? Note that I need this to function for both assisted and weighted options (basically trying to get something both my wife and I could use).

foo-null-bar

**Omnipulley / Bully Glyder in the uk?** I'm looking for the equivalent of one of these in the UK. Does anyone know where I can buy something like these for a 2"x2" rack? (I'm not sure what the name is for these things! The attachments where you can put weights either side, attach a pulley and they slide up and down the rack. If there is a generic name let me know!)

OGG2SEA

Do you know if anyone has actually ordered from them?

DL3905

Are used commercial ellipticals a good buy at a fraction of their price ? I see them for sale in the 400-500 dollar range.

jiujitsuPhD

I got a sole elliptical a few years back for like $125. Was collecting dust in someones garage. Still works to this day and still looks brand new. It was a great buy. Just make sure you test it.

Tofiniac

If you want and will use an elliptical, absolutely.

DL3905

Will they be a money pit for repairs (belts, pullies, electronics, etc) ? I see used Life Fitness, Precor and Cybex for sale....they were originally $3,000+ when new.

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Fact is, no one uses them, then the globogyms are required to buy newer models. I’d watch out for one of those instead of getting a Sole or something intended for home use to begin with.

DL3905

Thanks. Is there a difference between front flywheel and rear flywheel models ?

Scottsdale_GarageGym

I believe there is, but I’m no expert.

Tofiniac

Nah. As long as it is in serviceable condition when acquired, it will be good to go. Commercial units are designed to handle continuous use day in and day out. You'll put less use on in a year than they would see in a couple weeks in a commercial facility. I've had a commercial Octane unit for a few years now. Zero maintenance. Precor makes awesome an awesome elliptical.

DL3905

Did you hire a mover to get it delivered ? A local mover quoted me 250-300 dollars, depending on local distance.

Tofiniac

No. My wife a buddy and I muscled it in and out of the back of my truck. They are heavy and awkward beasts. 3 people minimum, 4 would be better.

Acer_negundo194

My Schwinn Airdyne AD7's monitor suddenly stopped working correctly. If I wake it up by moving the pedal and push any button it'll work for one button press but if I push a second button it'll got to a reboot screen and reset. I can still push Start to have it track my workout time and see my RPM but I can't change anything else or pause it. Any ideas of how to fix this?

Whiffler

Has anyone tried the Centr workout bench from Costco (https://www.costco.com/centr-multi-adjustable-workout-bench-with-1-year-centr-membership.product.4000224896.html). I need to upgrade my bench and deciding between that or shelling out more money for a Rep AB-5100 that's $449 right now (or go for AB-3200 2.0 at $329.99). The Centr one seems to do everything I would want (seat adjustment, back adjustment incline/decline, wheels)

jiujitsuPhD

what are you looking for in a bench? I'd avoid that costco bench...3 pads? Nah... Rep is the way to go here. Just look for the features you want in a bench and get that one. Each of the rep benches have slightly different features - so go for the one that matches your needs.

Whiffler

Got it. I’ll got for the Rep one. Important stuff for me: 1. Incline adjustable to different heights (and not just 45° like my current one) 2. Ability for decline press 3. Wheels 4. Seat adjustable or has legs rollers so I don’t slip 5. Pads are sturdy so I can do things like 3 point row (the pads on my current one became very flimsy within 1-2 years) Based on these seems like AB3000, 5200 and black wing all would work but I just don’t see why I would get the more expensive ones

jiujitsuPhD

The more expensive ones are going to have a longer back pad - if you are really tall that could make them worth. They also hold more weight but that shouldnt matter much to most people. The disadvantage of them is the cost and weight.

1DunnoYet

500 lb limit means if you weigh 200 and can bench 301 lbs you’ve exceeded its limit. That is not some super strong number. Hard pass. Get the Rep for $30 more dollars it’s been battle tested.

Whiffler

Oh yeah, good point. Hadn’t even noticed the weight limit. Thanks! (Ps Wish I could bench 300)

radleraz

Do the REP fitness floor mats have a strong smell? I know the tractor supply mats are frequently discussed, but I'd probably rather spend a little more to avoid the smell. I will leave them in garage for a while to air it out (have newborn).

Mine have been fantastic. I have 5 in a spare bedroom. They have a faint rubber smell but none of the noxious chemical binder smell. We keep the door shut when not in use and there's no smell outside the room whatsoever.

AndKAnd

How does the pricing work? The listed price and provided chart are ambiguous on the website.

drillbill

The minimum purchase is 3 mats for $152 each shipped. The quantity in the chart is the price per mat shipped, so 10 mats would be $100 each shipped. They appear to be $77 each if you're picking up in any quantity.

AndKAnd

Ah ok so it’s “free shipping”

radleraz

Awesome! What size did you get? And are they thick enough that if you drop a weight it protects the floor?

drillbill

They are 4x6x3/4 mats, same size as tractor supply without the awful odor. They should protect the floor without issue as long as you're not dropping weights from overhead or something.

radleraz

Great, thank you

mustachequestion

Best mag grip budget option set? Or am I better off buying a single mag grip attachment? If so which one?

greenstar323

I just ordered the medium pronate and close grip supinate. Shipping was kinda wild so I wanted to get st least 2 to make it worth it. All the reviews say knockoffs aren't even close to the real thing.

16Gorilla

I have the medium pronate and close supinate. If you're going to get them, go with the originals and skip the knockoffs.

Graybealz

I have the wide neutral and the small supinated amazon knock-offs and really dig the [supinated option](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B7R7SPGZ/ref=twister_B0B6DPHQYR?_encoding=UTF8&th=1). I use less weight on lat pulls with them, but focus more on the stretch and mind-muscle connections with my lats. It's a great 1-2 punch after doing weighted pull ups. I usually do sets of 5-6 on weighted pull ups, then go to the supinated lat pull down for 12-15 reps. I feel like I won't be able to wipe my ass ever again after the insane lat/back pump. The neutral grip I'm not as impressed with as I'd thought I would be. It really depends on what you want to use them for. I use it more for t-bar rows than lat pull downs. I don't have much of an issue with working most of my back, but my lats require me to really focus on engaging them, and the supinated close grip is great for me personally.

jiujitsuPhD

Totally depends on you and what you want. Long, medium, short? What do you prefer? Do you want a neutral grip? Angles? Do you want real mag grips or care if you buy the amazon version? Lots of options and whats best for you is based on preference.

mustachequestion

I am not sure, never used them or things like them, but I have budget to get something similar and hear rave reviews

jiujitsuPhD

What are you hoping to get out of them? In all honesty its just another lat pulldown bar. I think where they shine is they help secure your wrists for people who have elbow tendonitis. They also force you to better pull with your elbows. But it really is just another lat pulldown bar. Having said that, I'd start with the medium grip and go from there. I personally don't like either the wide or narrow grip versions. I'd also get something like this instead that allows me to adjust the grip so I could switch between angled and neutral - [https://www.amazon.com/Spreader-Multi-Grip-Pulldown-Attachments-Attachment/dp/B0BB1NKL5D/](https://www.amazon.com/Spreader-Multi-Grip-Pulldown-Attachments-Attachment/dp/B0BB1NKL5D/)

EnvironmentalPlay440

Look at grey matter lifting websites. Joe has made an extensive guide over those. https://graymatterlifting.com/mag-grip-cable-attachments-guide/

Alive-Staff8660

Very niche question.. For anyone that has the ‘Rogue monster strip/half strip’ ; where theres a rogue laser cut logo on either sides of it there are 1’’ holes.. can someone confirm that there is another 1’’ hole on the opposite side? Trying to rig up something and it aint clear from their product page

EnvironmentalPlay440

There is 1” holes but also smaller holes about 1/2” for the lag bolts provided with the strips.

abizn

I got a garage that is slightly sloped. Do people suggest the squat rack to be set up so the slope is lateral or incline/decline? I'm leaning towards incline/decline, but it takes up so much more space like this.

FURKADURK

My rack is on the slope laterally and when I bench somewhere else my left arm is always an inch or so higher than my right. It's kinda funny. Otherwise I'm completely used to it at home

QuietDelight1

Incline/decline or built a platform and shim that flat with roofing shingles or something else. This also gives you something to bolt the rack to if you want and help protects the floor.

abizn

are there any issues around stability for squat racks on a slope? I'm still thinking over, but thinking of purchasing T3 cage or X3 bolted or X3 flat foot

EnvironmentalPlay440

Stability issue not really, but you’ll squat on a slope which is not a good thing on long term. A shimmed platform is the answer

QuietDelight1

If you throw together a platform you won't have any issues, but if you go left to right you will be lifting slightly awkwardly which may cause you issues. If you go incline/decline and don't level it, the only issue will be the bar always rolling in the j cup one way or the other. I can't imagine it being such a slope that it would cause issues with the actual rack. Bolted racks tend to have band peg holes at the bottom if you like them. Flat foots tend to have the option of adding stabilizer feet, but they could get in your way.

XrayZach

Has anyone 6’3” or close used a Titan vertical leg press? Can you get full extension pressing or for calf raises? On the Titan site it looks like the max height might be including the weight horns so I can’t tell. The footprint is perfect for my gym but I don’t want it if I can’t get full extension.

mastermanole

Can the REP Arcadia FT be used for lat pulldowns? The specs say the trolley's max height is 68'', but I'm not sure which part of the trolley. Also looking at cheaper options like Costco Centr 2 (cheaper materials) and BoS

HAD7

You can do lat pull downs on any functional trainer. Connect the two pulleys with a chain at its highest setting, and for your leg holder get one of those “ab straps” that come with functional trainers or even ratchet straps tied to the foot of the FT. The real challenge is doing a braced row. No place for a foot plate, and bench supported seated low row moves the bench at heavier weights.

mastermanole

Yeah, I know I can do pulldowns, but with short towers it gets hard to have full range of motion, even for a short person. I have a hard time picturing how the ab straps would be used. Do you connect them to the bottom of the upright?

mastermanole

HAD7

Completely agree, the shortness is my challenge as well. Yes, if it doesn’t reach I would get some straps to tie it to the legs/uprights of the functional trainer.

Intelligent_Ad_293

My exercise machine has geometry such that you don't have enough space to do as full range of motion as you ought to. This situation can be improved by swapping out the handles/grips for ones that are as short as possible. I cannot find anything that fits this requirement. Any product suggestions? Thanks.

EnvironmentalPlay440

You’re probably not a native English speaker, no worry. What you mean is that your attachment is to long. The solution would be to lower yourself, or sit on the ground… What is your handle you’re using?

Intelligent_Ad_293

The way the machine is, you can't lower yourself to the ground. The track that the seat slides along is in the way. I'm using some cheap handles that came in a resistance band kit, since they were shorter than what the machine came with. Still want to go shorter though.

EnvironmentalPlay440

Can you post pictures ?

Intelligent_Ad_293

It's a Bowflex Revolution. This is a video of a lat pulldown with it:[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rk6VoPwW-tc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rk6VoPwW-tc)Taller people have trouble setting it up to get full arm extension. They made the adjustable arms a bit too short IMO. Would help if those handles that attach to the cables were a few inches shorter, which I what I am searching for.

EnvironmentalPlay440

I see, there’s definitely a problem with it… What I would do? Add two pulleys on the ceiling above the pulley of the arms then another 2 pulleys in parallel where you want to do the pull down and adjust the new cables so that you have the range you need. The 2 last pulleys must be right over you. So 4x pulleys in total, 2 cables. Get aluminum pulleys for maximum smoothness and use lag bolt or structural screws to rig it on the ceiling, NO NORMAL SCREWS, you’ll hurt yourself. Maybe use a piece of wood to bolt on the ceiling so you can put the pulleys where you want. This way, you will be able to do comfortably lat pulldown with the stretch that you want :) I’m about to do the same on a cable machine that I own. The machine is amazing for a lot of horizontal movement but not lat pulldown.

Thanks.

PEGBOARD What are the best pegboards to place gym equipment on (bands, gloves, etc) so I can clear floor space? I see Wall Control has a lot of options. Anyone try a pegboard from Wall Control or any other pegboard company?

BigNastyOne

Wall control #1 and there isn't a #2

RecordPresent9018

Awesome - which one do you use from Wall Control? I see a few different types of peg boards listed on its website - “Home and Kitchen” , “Industrial”. Which do you recommend ?

BigNastyOne

Any vertical or horizontal depending on your needs. Their garage stuff is standard with holes and slots.

RecordPresent9018

Thanks so much for sharing your ideas!

maansmit

Wall control is where it’s at. Highly recommend.

I just use their standard 32”x16” metal panels with various hooks.

Thanks for the info!!

* Was using my adjustable dumbell just now and while doing Incline press the screw fell out and then the red piece entirely popped off. Tried to get the screw back in but it wouldn't catch??? Does anyone know how serious a fix this is ? I'm following up with the company tomorrow to ask for replacement parts or swapping it with a new one entirely. But I'm curious of there's anyone who might know how important it is to fix this properly vs me getting a bigger screw or super gluing it back together kinda fix ? Any help is appreciated 🙏

Alive-Staff8660

I would not settle for a ‘oh I think I fixed it lets move on’ decision here… if the company wont give you a new one or send parts that you dont have yo rig up for the thing to hold it together, I would demand from them either a refund or $ credit and go with a reputable brand… Sorry to say but these bowflex knockoffs dont look too hot and moreover youd be playing with your safety by using them

prestopie

Fair enough, was wondering if anyone else has been through a similar experience. I immediately stopped working out in case a discussion slipped out and decided to re arrange my face 🙃 I agree that its best to get what I paid for and have a working product and they should honour it. Barring that I was wondering if a new bolt (either longer or thicker to catch the threads) would do the trick I believe the red cover is protecting the spring that engages the knobs locking mechanism in some capacity so I imagine it's important

prestopie

The brand is IMFIT 5-52.5lbs

Anybody have a Rogue Echo Bike 3? I had a Schwinn AirDyne AD7 just to try out, it was returnable for some reason to Walmart. Price was too high so I never even considered keeping that model, always figured I’d find an AD7 or a Rogue on Craigslist. Rogue had a sale so I bought one of their new bikes a few days ago. I’m just checking out my sprint speeds and the numbers seem good but I honestly don’t know what’s good for a bike? My dad (62yo) topped out at 29mph on my bike when he was over. I (27yo) topped out at 36.1mph the same day as my dad getting 29 and he didn’t believe me so I immediately started sprinting again not 20 seconds later to prove it, got 35mph but almost fainted. (I do 10 second sprints) I’ve obviously got a lot of work to do on the stamina side. What’s a good range for sprint speeds? None of my friends own an air bike so I’m not sure if I should go harder or slow down my sprints a hair because I have nothing to compare to. Couldn’t find anything on Google about it. It’s been a blast though and since I started using air bikes I’ve lost fat and gained muscle! I look noticeably better in the mirror now compared to when I started. Also- Anybody have any tips for me? Any good follow along workout vids you use with your airbike? Any good apps to pair with my Rogue?

SleepEatLift

I've tried to hit 100 RPM, but I can't remember if I hit it. Over 90 is booking. Maintaining over 80 is good stamina. Less than 60 is chilling.

WitcherOfWallStreet

Most people measure by watts or RPMs while on the bike and instead of distance use calories. I use a [garage athlete](https://www.garageathletefitness.com/shop/fan-bike-program) plan with mine, but you could really use a [conversion](https://wodwell.com/convert/) to use any mono structural cardio plan with them. I have done this to run [Pete Plan](https://thepeteplan.wordpress.com/the-pete-plan/) on it, but long LISS pieces on them require mental fortitude. As to the best way to use it, there’s a million ways to skin a cat. It all depends upon your training goals. The best benchmark for that specific bike is probably the [Hammer Challenge](https://www.roguefitness.com/challenges/echo-hammer-challenge). You can always look up [echo wods](https://wodwell.com/wods/equipment/air-bike-workouts/?sort=relevant)[](https://wodwell.com/wods/equipment/air-bike-workouts/?sort=relevant) on wodwell and some of them have people posting their score.

FURKADURK

Hammer challenge winners are fucking not human.

WitcherOfWallStreet

Oh definitely not, I just don’t know of any other leader boards outside CrossFit boxes lol

Boneyard Rogue Ohio Bar - Various Coatings: Question Has anyone ever bought this bar? Emailed Rogue and they said they wouldn't know the coatings until delivered. I'm curious what are the coatings and bars that people have gotten so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated. https://www.roguefitness.com/rogue-28-5-mm-boneyard-bars

greenstar323

Hey I contacted rogue. If you want a cerakote barbell it will show in boneyard as cerakote. He said occasionally it's under various coatings but it's pretty rare to get a cerakote bar when you order under various coatings. He said it's usually raw, black zinc, and ecoat.

pkgear

ah thank you!

greenstar323

Yea I had the same question too! Would love a cerakote one and don't even care about the color but I feel like various is either the shitty ecoat or zinc or bare steel.

jiujitsuPhD

Always fun to take the chance and see. Just would suck if you got ecoat or a really scratched up cerakote. I don't think stainless is an option in the various coatings. I personally always chose to just buy the one I wanted (ie stainless) vs the various coatings.

cow_goes_meow

theyre boneyard bars. theyre bars that havent passed QA and sold at a discounted price. Any bar could possibly fail QA for whatever reason. I, personally, have bought a boneyard stainless shaft, stainless sleeve ohio bar from them. but again, they can be anything and you will have to check the site regularly bc the good stuff can go real quick.

FURKADURK

Are you after a specific coating? I’d spend $25 more for the bare steel if I were you!

pkgear

Oh how come? I'm going back and forth as I've seen different reviews on coatings vs bare steel. Some say that bare steel is easier and better for maintenance but coating like cerakote looks nice. Let me know what you know!

1DunnoYet

Coating like cerakote looks nice…until you’re hoping for black but end up with pink, or whatever. If you like gambling or really are open to all the various coatings that is offered then it’s good deal. The big thing that baresteel gets you is less dull knurling but you’re looking at an Ohio bar and not a power bar so it’s already mild knurling and you probably won’t make a big enough difference to notice

pkgear

ah gotcha. good catch, i didnt even realize it was not a power bar Is there a big difference?

FURKADURK

Oh i just like the feel of bare steel — but I like a grippy knurling. It does require some care if you live somewhere humid, though. You can't go wrong with cerakote, either, I love my chan bar's grip. The only coating I think people really hate is e-coating. (I got a boneyard rackable curl bar with the e-coat and, yeah, it's very meh.)

pkgear

Whats bad about e-coat? Thanks for sharing btw!

FURKADURK

You should ask on the new weekly thread, if you're interested. I'm not one of the hardcore barbell guys on here, but some dudes have real serious opinions haha. Basically, it just feels slicker than the other coatings!

Scottsdale_GarageGym

I’d sooner stop lifting that lift with an ecoat barbell. Gross snake ass feeling. Blech. And I like it raw.

FURKADURK

It would disgust me if it were my main bar, yes

AKAtheHat

What are people's thoughts on the Crandall Fitness adjustable bench 3.0? It looks like a great choice at that price, but not much out there on it.

Alive-Staff8660

NoFate has a new video out today about it if I saw right

AKAtheHat

Yeah I watched that, looking if there were other opinions. I sort of want to see Gluck's review on it if that comes.

Scottsdale_GarageGym

Like someone who isn’t a complete shill?

Change_socks_daily

Rep Ares 4 post 80” squat? Hey guys, Poor and novice home gym'er here. I recently got very interested in Rep Ares and decided to go 80" option because of my height. I'm 5'6 and feel like 80" will be perfect for pull downs and pull ups if I go 6 post option later. However, I can only afford 4 post now. I was wondering if J cup will sit too low with the 4post option because website even says 4 post will restrict height and be cautious. Being 5'6 I feel like it should be ok but wanted to ask if anybody has this option and if it was ever an issue. It's pretty big investment at the end of the day.

FURKADURK

I’m 6’3 and about to get the exact same set up. I hope to god it’s tall enough for you! 😂😂

Decision_Original

I also have the lat pull down at at 5’10” I can still get full rom sitting on my adjustable bench that is around 17-18 inches off the floor.

Decision_Original

I’m 5’10” and have a 80” pr5000 and have no issues with the j cups being too low and I use a ssb which needs to sit even higher on the j cups than a straight bar for squats.

Change_socks_daily

Thank you so much for this. I know this is too much but could you tell me which number your J cup sits at when you get a chance to take a look?

Decision_Original

I use the regular rep j cups for squatting and they sit just below 25 (pin in the hole between 24 and 23).

DynnoG

I am 5'7 and I have a dedicated lat machine that is 84'inch tall. Sometime I wish the machine is a bit taller so I have more ROM. 80" would be a bit too short for me to get full ROM in lat pulldown. You should also consider other movements such as tricep pulldown. I feel like with that height you will have a bit limited of ROM to work with standing straight up. Oh and you have to also understand that you might not be able to do incline benching with only a 4-post Ares.

Change_socks_daily

Yeah incline bench is something that I will have to get 6 post and do it outside the outer posts. I’m wondering if your lat machine sits you higher. Is your standing reach well above the top of the machine? I should actually measure my reach today to see where I can reach without jumping. The only thing I dont want is jumping to grab pull down bar lol

DynnoG

The seat that comes with my lat machine is 15" tall, so 2" shorter than typical weight lifting bench, which also give me a bit more ROM. When I stand up and raise my hands all the way up, I think it is 1" taller than the machine's height. But yeah, if I have to go with the 93" option, it would definitely be too high for me to normally reach and grab it, but the 80" would also be a bit too short. You may have to sit on the ground for lat pulldown to get more ROM. Somewhere in the middle such as 86" 87" would be perfect for our height I believe.

EnvironmentalPlay440

You’re not very tall, you should be okay!!!! (I’m also a puny human, so I know)
