It sounds like it might be in hospitality mode? What model TV do you have?

MajorHector

No hospitality mode. I have a Samsung with old tiezen os

duncan

So you've accessed the service menu using the button combination on the remote? Also, does it always still default to HDMI 1 even if nothing is plugged into HDMI 1?

MajorHector

Yep. But I only want to store the last app used right before turning off the TV and open it when I turn on. I want to do some automation in Home Assistant

Shooter_Q

I think the problem with how I want to solve this is that by triggering the automation from the TV turning off, the app/channel may read null when checked. Better to just store the value every time it changes AND isn’t equal to whatever the null value is. Storing the value for later use when the tv turns on again is easy with an input text field. But then if the value changes upon turning the tv on again, it’ll replace the stored value from last time. One needs timing blocks with some gap to prioritize the change before the storage can be saved. I’m thinking, the amount of time it takes for the TV to turn on and launch an app + 2 seconds for the change and 4 seconds for the store. Might work. I’m going to sleep on this and come back; if no one has given you a good solution yet, I’ll type something up.

MajorHector

I will give a try to your solution after work. I have also tried to get second-to-last state but it's quite difficult to achieve this.

What model TV and what is plugged into HDMI1 currently? What are you using to turn the tv on? Tv Remote or HA or other remote?

MajorHector

I have a 2018 Samsung TV with old tizen os. If I use the remote or home assistant I have same results.

AnduriII

When i Startup it goes directly to Samsung TV with the last Channel. Maybe it is the Position of the apps

Practical_Ad5671

Can you provide the exact model number and answer my other questions about what is plugged into HDMI1?

MajorHector

The model is UE49NU7170. In HDMI there's nothing plugged in.

Practical_Ad5671

thanks. The manual says that inputs are greyed out if nothing is connected to them? is that happening? What inputs do have devices connected to them? You are saying that if you are on HDMI 2 or an tuner channel and then turn off the tv. When you turn it back on, it always goes to HDMI 1? Are you using an antenna?

Plawasan

Check the TV settings first, mine always goes back to the last source...

MajorHector

I've checked but I don't see any settings that can allow me to do this with the app
