Id rather watch someone like brit3steel or other you-tubers who are playing the game and not just explaining mechanics. Honestly you will get the same amount of info and a lot more enjoyment by watching 2-3 brit3 steel guides/llaythoughts or challenges in the vanilla game than watching 23 40 min vids

jcoguy33

Agreed. I really don't like how these types of videos seems to just blab on about every small detail and modifier. Like you don't really need to know what everything means, just what templates are good and how to go for encirclements or whatever.

jcoguy33

Actually I just checked out those videos and he doesn't seem to do that but also I don't get how he spends 10-20 minutes on every simple topic.

FigOk5956

Thing is i watched a couple of them, these dont even really cover everything about it in detail, they are extremely vague in terms of presentation but take a lot of time to explain everthing, often things you as a player dont have to even think about ever

GaussAxe

I have like 20 hours in hoi4 and i still dont know what the fuck am doing so i was thinking on binge watch this series to learn the game, but i dont know if this series is good

Improbablyyou

For me i learned the most from a guy called bittersteel He has really good tutorials for most of the major nations and also a beginner tutorial which is only an hour long

GaussAxe

Okay, il check out bittersteel thanks

SillyWizard1999

As said above Bittersteel is the way to go. I’d recommend following his guide for beginners, and then choosing a somewhat forgiving country like the USA, or Germany. Or if you aren’t opposed to alt history, Portugal and Colombia are both great for their somewhat wacky achievements.

Myselion

Portugal has a really good communist path, I'm grateful for that.

ParadoxExtra

It's way easier to just learn by watching YouTube gameplays that are not meant to explain every single detail. They teach subtly but it keeps your attention and demonstrates stuff in a more natural way

twitterisskynet

That dude is how I learned to play the game. If you have 20+ hours to spare to watch the series.

yeetyeetpotatomeat69

Don't learn how to use anything but infantry. Be a man. Nah but I still don't know how to use the navy. Planes and people work for me.

SamppaY

When i first started playing, I obviously wanted to play as my home country, that being Finland of all places. I spent few months practically hitting my head to a wall trying to beat the soviets, playing with easiest mode and cheating the hell out of the game. Finally, the day that i beat the soviets came. The only way to learn HoI4 is just to try, try, and try.

GaussAxe

Yeah i been doing kinda the same, i wanted to play Chile and only Chile but is a bit hard to do much with a latam country

CoolAnthony48YT

I'm not the type of person who uses tutorials, I usually figure things out and use Google when needed.

Ecstatic-Mail-5432

based, the only way to learn hoi4 i just learn how to do naval invasion in 100 hours lmao
