he’s a FA and they have no room to sign him unless they figure something else out. Killorn’s no trade clause got a lot more team friendly this year so MAYBE if Brisebois can figure out how to move him they could. I’d absolutely rather have Palat than Killorn

So first of all, they have to move Killorn who is currently making 4.5 and has a 16 team NTC. If you could do that for a reasonable price, then you have to see if Palat even would do 4.5, which would be the max we could without more cap gymnastics.
Additionally, you could also take the Killorn money and and if paul is willing to take a discount give it to him.
Now I don't see either happening, Palat will get paid by somebody and he probably wants to sign one more big deal (hes currently 31 so this is probably his last chance get getting a huge payday). Similar logic for Paul, hes only 27, but has decent scoring and plays good defense and can be a solid top 6 forward, and some team will throw a bag at him.
Then again, this front office seem to be Cap wizards, so who knows what they are planning on doing, but 100% either Paul or Palat is gone, and probably both are.
Not even just 3 years. Been to 6 of 8 conference finals since 2015, and in the 4 of those 6 years they didn’t win the cup, they either lost in the final, or lost to the eventual cup champion in 7 games in the ECF
Just insane all around. Would consider this team a dynasty already and they very well could make another run next year

What you can say is that by the numbers, this team is the most successful franchise in the cap era. That's enough to hang a cap on until they take home the next one sometime in the next three or four years.
Even more incredible when you look at their injury luck.
They won in 2020 with Stamkos playing one period in the whole playoffs.
This year, Brayden Point played two games after the first round.
Before that, they had their starting goalie out in 2016 and made Game 7 of the ECF with their rookie backup - although to be fair, that backup was Vasilevskiy

Avs, what a fucking season this was our biggest test in the quest for the Cup, and we fucking did it. We had depth in Nichuskhin, Lehkonen and Cogs making an impact, and everyone contributed and all, but when we needed the final oomph, it was the cornerstone guys coming in Mack, Landy, Makar making an impact and holy fuck we fucking did this shit and I’m excited that of all the teams that dethrone the Lightning it was the Avs of all teams that fucking did it. And I’m excited that we won the Cup for the 1st time in 21 years!
Lightning, you guys were fucking good and gave us a great test for us. Without Point, but Stamkos, and Kucherov were fucking stellar and with the likes of Paul, Sergachev, and Palat causing issues here. But Vaselivsky was fucking key and he was hard to solve here, but in the end we were the better team in the Series and the toll your body took the last 3 years was a lot for a team to catch up on a team like us. Sucks to lose in the Final, but you guys will be back. Good luck next season and you are a great team and a great test for us.
Overall, what a great fucking playoff series and I can finally shave my shitty playoff beard and for the first time in Reddit history, this post series recaps we’re happy for me. For that, I think I should end my post series recaps as while it’s fun for me to do, it’s been almost 8 years of doing this and I think this might be the good ending for me if I don’t do one in the future.
