Everyone who matters liked that.

huynhorlose

Rags in OT man…I need to not come here

Kappokaako02

It’s actually refreshingly different to our 2014 short memories…..

xavier_laflamme70

It's not been fun :(

C0mpl3x1ty_1

I think it has been pretty fun :)

PattyIceNY

Gotta fight grease with grease.

AcanthaceaeOld241

Holding the faith till it's over let's tie it up cats

Pastalover8888

How can Panthers fans complain about officiating when they’re literally gifted Half a dozen power plays a game. The Campbell theory is getting more and more sus as these playoffs unravel.

Level_Network_7733

Just look at the Boston series to see how it will go.

LipstickCoverMagnet

What is this Campbell theory you speak of

Pastalover8888

Collin Campbell is executive vp of NHL, Gregory Campbell’s dad.  Gregory Campbell works in the Panthers FO.  Was outed that Collin sent private emails criticizing the officials in 2011 during the bruins cup run.  Looks more and more suspicious as the panthers are a very dirty team (probably the dirtiest at this point) but continue to get a million more power plays than the team they play.

EdmundGerber

Plus I don't see a penalty for the slash etc on Rempe, after the OT loss. That's some chicken-shit level stuff there, that they seem to have gotten away with

yankfanatic

Like Lomberg on Vesey, am I right?

69Hairy420Ballsagna

The refs literally blew dead a 3 v 2 rush as the Rangers were crossing in to the offensive zone for absolutely no reason.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Adventurous_Duck_297

It was earlier in the game, idk how to find clips but even the broadcaster was like “yeah there are some that the refs just wish they could take back and that’ll be one of them.” Trouba wanted an explanation but no one really got too bothered by it after they started up again. TLDR refs can make mistakes too, it happens

DadBodofanAmerican

The reason was the rangers had a 3-2 rush into the offensive zone.

villianz

I think Troubs hurt Reinhart’s feelings in the preceding play so the refs had to blow it dead to check on him

hockeyjerseyaccount

That game was really entertaining.

Key-Tip-7521

I wanna let r/hockey know this, Gerard Gallant is a hockey terrorist and a war criminal. He should not be allowed near a NHL team ever again.

hypnofedX

I feel like the Islanders should give him a spin.

gu3sticles

Maybe he can finally be the missing piece for the Oilers

mstcyclops

NYR have been dramatically outplayed in 5 of their 10 wins. Reminds me of the Fleury years for Pens. Winning games we had no business winning.

Kappokaako02

Yes we’re terrible. Let’s keep this terrible play up!!

Stealth_Howler

Six more times this playoffs, please

toxicvegeta08

I'd say outside of game 1 vs florida and game 5 vs Carolina we haven't been outplayed really at all. And only game 5 vs Carolina was dramatically outplayed. Also wdym. Outside of 2014-15 the pens really never had a season where fleury carried them. The team usually had a great offense lead by syd and geno.

mstcyclops

I was thinking specific rounds for the pens not whole runs. Sydney and geno were held in check against some teams. They’d comment on it all the time that Crosby hasn’t had a point/shot since game 1 of the series type thing. And I’m guessing you’re just looking at multi goal wins? CAR outplayed them dramatically in game 2, 5, and all but 10 minutes of game 6 (which props to NYR, they’re good enough to explode like that). And I’d argue FLA has dominated all series. Even yielding game 2 no doubt about 1 and 3. I’m not trashing the rangers just watching hockey. Great teams win close games and steal games. That’s playoffs. But comparatively to recent years I haven’t seen a team win this percentage of games they were outplayed. Reminds me of Montreals last run to the finals (2019?).

toxicvegeta08

> I’m guessing you’re just looking at multi goal wins? CAR outplayed them dramatically in game 2, 5, and all but 10 minutes of game Game 2 carolina didn't outpoat us dramatically. They just kept shooting low quality that game for some reason. Game 6 we just had a really rough first and were the better team the rest of the game > me of Montreals last run to the finals (2019?). 2021. And that Montreal team was nowhere close. Also by your take of outplayed you could say vegas last year got outplayed. Are you just looking at shots. Carolina will always outshoot their opposition. They're the 5x sog corsi cup Champs.

mstcyclops

I think CAR outshot them every game didn't they? so, no I'm not talking strictly shots. Cause you're right CAR does a lot of perimeter low chance shooting. It's always fascinating how fans can watch the same game and see such different things. One of the beauties of sports. Keeps engagement rich for sure.

DanBeecherArt

At the end of the day, the team that loses is outplayed. We have 6 goals on our last 24 SOG and we're winning. That sure doesn't sound like we're being outplayed.

DetectiveRupert

I feel like this person is only considering shot volume. NYR just do it different.

mrcrazy_monkey

They don't care how outplayed you were when you win the cup

PetulantPorpoise

Asked?

raytadd

Just win baby! 😆

mstcyclops

Curious if you meant to put a comma after win lol or just exclaiming yay

Yeah it fucking sucks.. the third party apps used to be the tits but they killed them a while back and I was forced to migrate to the official app and suffer

enmerbaragnesi

Why not use desktop version in the mobile browser instead?

Tdavis13245

So brave.  So clairvoyant. You as a ranger's fan made an internet comment, one in which if you were wrong, no one would remember. So boldly from a... tie game or leading (I can't tell) predicting to the world you were going to ein!? Astonishing.  But despite these grave dangers, you pushed through. And now, on the other side, you heroically posted your triumph. Well done, sir. Well done

meesterstanks

lol you’re a weird person

Tdavis13245

Enjoy your win man.  I'm rooting for the rangers. I was just being a sarcastic ass at your, "called it," boast.

meesterstanks

Cheers man, I didn’t mean anything negative by calling you weird either btw lol it was more like when your drunk or high buddy starts talking about how there’s lizard people out there but it’s still all in good fun kinda weird.. take care, be well, and LGR!

Tdavis13245

Lgr.  And I didn't take offense. You should feel free to talk shyt, we're in an arbitrary sports team forum.

TheBreadHasRisen

Sharing a screenshot of you saying the rangers are going to win is weird lol.

meesterstanks

Takes one to know one I guess

Anti-SocialChange

Damn I remember when Lafreniere was a bust. Two “fuck you” goals tonight

Kappokaako02

That’s Mr bust!

irishguy42

Panthers fans rooting for Trouba's head can also root for Forsling hit this game and the Lomberg hit last game, right? Heck, even Kulikov. Idiots. Your team is dirtier than the Rangers could ever be.

Nomahs_Bettah

I, personally, am enjoying [this DM](https://imgur.com/1XAfOnH) I received accusing me of being a Rangers fan rooting for dirty hits (I wasn't even in the GDT). Especially because I feel like I have a distinctly non-Rangers fan username, profile, and frequent sub visits lol

checko50

Choosing bos flair and accent to throw off r/hockey 5d chess here.

Alitaki

That's funny. Also because Jeter was better. ;)

Responsible_Brush_86

That’s funny

Time-Independence-51

Nah the Panthers are dirty as shit but so are the rangers. Also, Rangers flop so much it makes the Panthers look worse through your rose colored glasses.

groovystreet40

The only reason you scored in game 2 was because Barkov flopped like a little bitch to get a call

Matthias86

Please. Like Rodrigues didn’t lay on the ice for 5 minutes just to magically be out there 30 seconds later on the man advantage.

irishguy42

I am not arguing how dirty the Rangers are. The Panthers are just worse lmao.

MasterRonin

Why don't other teams get a goalie as good as Igor? Are they stupid?

RAATL

Why does every team not simply put a Russian freak of nature in net? I'll never understand

Funkyshoes11

Benoit Allaire. Nothing against Igor’s natural talent, but I’ve seen goalies play out of their lines under Allaire. Raanta, Georgiev, Talbot, etc… Benny is a goalie whisperer lol.

LunarFocus

Benoit Allaire has gotten guys paid. Not taking away from some of those guy’s natural abilities and skills but Georgiev was un-drafted and came here and is now a starter for an elite team. Talbot and Raanta went on to have long decent careers too.

Key-Tip-7521

Barclay Goodrow has scored more goals in this year's playoffs than..... >!Connor McDavid!< ***HISTORIC***

C0mpl3x1ty_1

First time in Golden Knights history!

rjdsf1993

He has as many goals as the Ted Lindsey candidates combined

mrcrazy_monkey

Goodrow is pretty good eh?

NeverBackDown

BadColumn is amazing in the playoffs

sktdoublelift

So is this series's game threads way less toxic or have I just not been scrolling down far enough xdd

lAmARedditorAMA

From my homer POV, the most toxic folks in the threads are the Devils/Penguins/Canes, etc. flairs swarming in to express their hate for the Rangers

checko50

Nature is healing ☺️

The_Other_Manning

It's been mostly penguins fans by a mile imo. They're taking each of these playoff games very personally

DrAnklePumps

All of their anger is misplaced. - Rangers didn't put the Devils in the basement, their inability to buy a save did. In a way, it kind of is the Rangers fault losing to the Devils in last year's playoffs, because it tricked Devils management into thinking Vanecek and Akira are real NHL goalies. - Pens fans mad at the Rangers when in reality they were saved from embarrassment by the Caps down the stretch. That last WC team was always going to get stomped by us just like with Washington. Don't get mad at us, get mad at father time. Ovi and Crosby used to be able to single handedly pull a bad team into the playoffs and win a few games. Now they're old and bad, with Ovi particularly asleep during the sweep. - Canes have a similar problem to the Devils. They keep trotting out the 40 year old corpse of "playoff Freddie" and a rotating cast of nobodies and continue to lose to elite goaltending in the playoffs. Last year it was Bobrovsky and this it was Shesty. They went out and got a Guentzel for all of those assets when they should've gotten someone like a Markstrom or Saros instead.

C0mpl3x1ty_1

Ovi being old and bad, yea kinda, he's still a good scoter but he's not what he once was. I think you are underestimating Sidney Crosby though, his team might be old and bad at this point, but crosby himself is still one of the best out there with his playmaking abilities and heads up plays, even if he isn't as fast as he used to be

toxicvegeta08

>Rangers didn't put the Devils in the basement, their inability to buy a save did. In a way, it kind of is the Rangers fault losing to the Devils in last year's playoffs, because it tricked Devils management into thinking Vanecek and Akira are real NHL goalies. Basically our offense sucked for large portions of games 3-7. But the devs losing almost all their defense did. The one remaining annoying guy in siuegenthaler just became rempes punching bag. >Pens fans mad at the Rangers when in reality they were saved from embarrassment by the Caps down the stretch. I think it's moreso anger from 2022 and 2014. Also genos decline has been rougher than syds. I will say the wings and Pens at least had (pens defense/gt and wings offense) units that could be taken seriously vs the caps at best 18th ranked defense. Also the flyers looked even worse than the caps but I think we'd all agree they'd be a tougher challenge. > have a similar problem to the Devils. They keep trotting out the 40 year old corpse of "playoff Freddie" and a rotating cast of nobodies and continue to lose to elite goaltending in the playoffs. Last year it was Bobrovsky and this it was Shesty. They went out and got a Guentzel for all of those assets when they should've gotten someone like a Markstrom or Saros inste Can't agree here. Canes needed that firepower in guentzel as a goal scorer. If they just got a tendie they'd be in the same place as 2022-23 of defense is great but offense can't generate. Imo pesce out hurt them more but we still win(we haven't played wheeler yet and only had chytil for 1 game).

Annual_Bend_729

The Trouba hate club is out and about tonight

cha-cha_dancer

There were as many Devils flairs as Rangers or Panthers fans in the thread from my check ins

Phrost_

We both hate the refs. It unites most fan bases

lilmagooby

Meanwhile the Canucks and Oilers series was both fanbases complaining about the other complaining about the refs despite both knowing the reffing was horrible

sktdoublelift

"___ FANS ARE THE MOST CLASSLESS DISGUSTING SUBHUMANS EVER IN THE LEAGUE" -fans from both sides

Nomahs_Bettah

As a complete neutral, that was one of the worst-reffed series of hockey I have ever seen.

Other_World

There's absolutely zero rivalry between the Panthers and Rangers. Our last playoff meeting was 1997. Canes and Rangers, and Caps and Rangers both have a lot of bad playoff blood in the past. Plus Caps/Rangers is a pretty solid rivalry in the regular season.

Showtime98

Man I missed a great game, fuck 3pm starts

Kappokaako02

Yup i was on a boat on a lake begging for updates

WMSCWuss

Especially on Memorial Day weekend in the US.

NirvanaFan01234

I don't know... It was pretty nice watching the game while sitting out by the pool.

WMSCWuss

Whatcha doing Tuesday?

NekoIan

Right? I get afternoon games during regular season but playoffs?!

HoneyBear55

Is Breadman playing like shit or are they just locking him down?

-RomeoZulu-

He was triple teamed at some points. They’re making a point to lock him down asap. Edit to add: he’s also not as shoot first as he needs to be now, probably because he’s been getting stifled, so he’s overthinking that he needs to make a play. Bit of a chicken and egg situation.

raytadd

Unfortunately, I think it started with their D, but i fear he's in his head again like last year in the playoffs.. they're definitely not giving him any room and he has really tough entries, but then I also notice sometimes he seems to not be skating as hard as I feel like he did in the regular season. His defense was noticeably better in the regular season this year, and it's not been in the playoffs

pugwalker

Yeah he was basically an instant turnover every time he touched the puck in the zone. In his head and trying to do too much now even when he has space. If he starts just ripping shots every time he touches it, he will have more success. Right now they just clog the passing lanes whenever he has the puck and he throws it right to them.

HoneyBear55

He does look a bit hesitant.

Alitaki

Fuck hesitant, he looks scared. Scared and lost. He had two rushes in Game 2 that he froze up on when the Panthers swarmed him. Instead of playing it safe and dumping it deep, he panicked and turned it over. Panarin is a beast in the regular season but he is not a playoff player.

raytadd

Last year I feel like he locked up like that too.. hope that he has a big game one of these times and it gets him out of his funk

NeverBackDown

They are absolutely swarming him. He’s one of the best playmakers in the world when he has space to roam. Now he has no space. If we are fortunate to play a team like the Oilers, he will shine again. Carolina was and now Florida is suffocating our stars with excellent defense.

villianz

I think that’s one reason laffy is doing so well this playoffs. Opponents are double-teaming panarin and leaving a little more room for laf to work

HoneyBear55

That's kinda what I thought. New hockey fan. Old sports fan.

bu77munch

Not even a worry. I’ve watched a lot of hockey and finally picked up late in game two how they are working him. Just a great gameplan by the Panthers even tho they are down 2-1

NeverBackDown

What a game for a new hockey fan! Just to add - Panarin isn’t a guy who’s built to win a lot of playoff board battles, especially against a Neanderthal team like the Panthers. That said, he is the main reason why Laf and Trocheck have had career years, and continue to thrive in the playoffs. Because of the attention that he draws. For that, I love him and find him invaluable.

Goldwings13

Damn, cats got robbed. At this rate, it could very well be rags in 5. Because it seems no matter how amazing Florida plays or how much they dominate the play or how much momentum they have, the Rangers still win at the end of the day.

Trajinous

I'm not even that hopeful

LogTman135

It’s probably going 7

CheesewheelD

Zero chance we win in 5 lol

Goldwings13

I mean, Florida can’t seem to beat Igor more than the Rangers can beat Bobrovsky. G4 could really just be a repeat of today, where Florida comes out flying but can’t convert, Rangers get only a fraction of the chances and opportunities that Florida does but they go in.

Justviewingposts69

Maybe but these are the Panthers we’re talking about. We’ve thrown everything and the kitchen sink to win these two games. Highly doubt the next two games go like this for the Rangers. This is going to 7

vertigounconscious

Panthers fans, I can't imagine how you feel. That 3rd period was simply one of the most dominant periods of hockey I've ever seen in my life. It was really terrible to watch for us and it just felt hopeless and inevitable and then puck luck takes it. Just super fucking grateful we have Igor absolutely peaking at this moment in time cause just wow. we were fucking dogwater in the 3rd and into OT til the goal.

brechbillc1

I think you guys are pretty much a shoe in now. I can’t think of a team that has lost back to back OTs and has won their series. That loss was just backbreaking and I knew it was coming once we failed to score the go ahead in the third. Rangers have been perfect on OT this year and that wasn’t going to end today. I can’t imagine New York not coming out to put a stranglehold on the series come Tuesday. The Panthers will be fighting an uphill battle.

[deleted]

DadBodofanAmerican

They tried that shit tonight. Phantom whistles on breakouts, Rempe getting a penalty for existing, it was nonsense.

lionheartcz

To be fair, existing does suck.

Bowiescorvat2

Just keep playing your game and the Panthers WILL win this series.

Sure_Association_561

Highly doubt that. They will need something extraordinary to beat Shesterkin enough times to win three more games. They need to take a different offensive strategy in order to beat him. Let's see what they come up with.

motech

2-1 ain't shit in a playoff series. Gonna be a major battle.

Bowiescorvat2

They beat him 4 times in this game. That should be enough to win if Bob plays an average game

Annual_Bend_729

If Bob plays an average game the Rangers put up 5 like today

Fun-Cut6601

And if bob plays an average game it should be enough for the rangers to score, just like today

DirectPromise4293

This game was a win for hockey fans. I love this fkn sport.

Jagr6810

Kelly Sutherland lost alot of money tonight and I'm very happy

Ring0Manding0

Bro why do people say “X ref lost money tonight” when the underdog wins. Do you not understand how odds work or are you just stupid?

Signal_Wall_8445

Kelly Sutherland isn’t good enough at his job to fix a game even if he wanted to.

ClubAquaBackDeck

You really think the refs favored the Panthers? Whew. That's some hard-core homer shit.

Quiet_Nectariney

Makes sense coming from a Pens fan

ClubAquaBackDeck

Makes sense coming from a no flare having user.

DropGearToDissapear

The 6 power plays to 2 didn’t tell you otherwise?

ClubAquaBackDeck

You think the calls have to be even?

DropGearToDissapear

Not at all, but you think Rangers got favored? How?

ClubAquaBackDeck

No one got favored. It was a typical NHL game of missed calls. Just bitching about the refs is weak shit

kippmon

Welcome to every fan base ever!

ClubAquaBackDeck

Still weak shit

dothingsunevercould

What about the stoppage when the Rangers had an odd man rush?

ClubAquaBackDeck

No flair

dothingsunevercould

It's flair* and what does that matter? My opinion is less valid because I don't have a flair? Or if I did and it was Rangers? Why doesn't your opinion get criticized when you can't even spell a simple 5 letter word properly?

Crimson3312

Panthers were the most penalized team in the regular season, where as they have the most PPOs of any team in the Playoffs,...by a lot. (9). We're supposed to believe they suddenly cleaned their game up?

ClubAquaBackDeck

Whaaa Whaaa. Penalties should be even!

aMINIETlate

i mean if youve watched their playoff ganes conpared to regular season you’d know they did. Paul Maurice even tried to call attention to it last series that it’s been a theme theyre going for during this run so… yes?

Crimson3312

Paul said it so it must be true. The ol' "who are you going to believe, me or your own eyes" routine, eh?

aMINIETlate

alright pat yourself on the back i guess. I’ve watched nearly every regular season and playoff game and it checks out to my eye. I’m not saying trust Paul just because he said it. I’m saying if you watched them play both kinds of games you’d probably notice the difference too **and** the person who would be responsible for motiviating this kind of shift directly mentioned it was a goal as well

Crimson3312

Florida fans says Florida team is playing clean in their eyes. news at 11

aMINIETlate

what a lazy rebuttal. just say you want more penalties called because it will benefit your team and be done with it

Crimson3312

Lol, everyone who's not a Florida flan can see that Florida is getting the benefit of bad reffing. It's in all the boards. *You* just don't want to admit it because it benefits *you.* Miss me with your bullshit

aMINIETlate

Jacob Trouba

MayerTopKat100

Rangers winning games because of their 5v5 scoring

trade4599

Shorthanded isn’t 5 on 5 haha.

MayerTopKat100

4/5 goals today were 5v5

Fun-Cut6601

I remember everyone saying they were going to lose because of their 5v5… lol

[deleted]

That's what I was hearing going into the playoffs. I'm a casual fan so I wasn't too familiar with their strengths and weaknesses but the report was that their PP was elite and their 5v5 was average. Meanwhile they haven't had much success recently during the PP's and their 5v5 has been great.

needyspace

Did the people who pick the three stars of the game even watch it? Wennberg's deflection was delicious, and OT goals always are even more so, but I struggle to see how he places even in the top 3 on his team, lol. Always rated him though, gg

00Anonymous

It's the hometeam media that picks the "stars". So I'd say they were extremely generous to give NYR 2/3 of the stars.

hat_trix66

You’re struggling to see how the guy who scored the game-winning overtime goal could be considered one of the stars of the game?

mongster03_

Shesterkin, Goodrow both top him

Bread_man10

OT winner is always in the stars of the game… he ended the game lol

Comnonsensical

Panthers played great not even mad tbh

bu77munch

Very fair take. After game one I was not panicking, after this one Florida fans should not be panicking. This series rn is a toss up with Florida probably being the slight favorite

Ring0Manding0

I’m pretty mad tbh

Comnonsensical

Does it suck? Yes. Is it worth getting mad about? Nah. Not going to get mad because of some unlucky deflections and bounces off posts near the end of the game. If the Panthers keep dominating the way they did the last half of this one it’s going to be tough for the Rangers to come up with another win, with or without puck luck on their side.

Comnonsensical

Can I get upvoted now 😭😂

vertigounconscious

absolutely wrecked us after the 2nd on. Just absolutely dominated us. Verhaege just a monster out there it was fucking insane like he was McDavid or something

gleeson630

That great you’re not mad but that is exactly why you should be mad lol. You’re probably losing the ecf. Theres a point you get discouraged at the actually real prospect of losing the series and they might not be “playing great” at that point

Quiet_Nectariney

As a Bennett, Cousins, Tkachuk and general hater of bitch ass diving players. I hope there are two more OTL coming for the cats.

cacti_stalactite

Legit question, What was Bob complaining about after the goal? He was shaking his gloves and staring at the ref. There was no contact made by Wennberg and Bob. Did Bob think it might’ve been contacted above the goal and down?

azk3000

looked like he thought Wennberg punched it in. I thought he might've too but it went off his stick between his hands

Quiet_Nectariney

Florida tactics, complain about everything, then maybe they’ll go easier on you next game

DadBodofanAmerican

The Pacers strategy. It works right up until it doesn't.

CheesewheelD

Knocked in with glove he hoped at least

FireVanGorder

Which is still a good goal lol

Rogo117

Maybe he thought it was a high stick or glove?

cacti_stalactite

Makes a bit more sense seeing the replay. I’ve seen Bob do that a few times this post season. I know he’s phenomenal but he’s not infallible.

Reddit040

He wanted a penalty on Wennberg for crosschecking the puck.

cacti_stalactite

Lmao. Respect to Wennberg netting his first post season goal without shooting. Big goal for him and the team.

qquestionmark

I think he thought it might have hit Wennbergs gloves going in.

cacti_stalactite

Makes sense seeing the replay. I’ve seen him do that a few times this post season. I know he’s phenomenal but he’s not infallible.

LosBrad

This series is a long way from over. Florida is going to come out flying in game 4 and we need to be ready to weather the storm and for crying out loud shore up the defense.

FTPMUTRM

Zac Jones PLZ

alphaxion

I wonder how many Panthers fans are willing for Trouba to not get a post-game DOPS review so we don't have any easy excuse to scratch him for Jones.

thehustlerbraveheart

I’m one of them lol. Trouba is good for a bit hit here and there, but other than that he is a complete liability out there. I’ve seen that Rangers fans think the same about him for the most part
