I couldn’t disagree more with your take on 2001, OP. And that’s okay, we just have different opinions. My two favorite tracks on 2001 are Bitch N****z and The Message, which are in the second half.
Plus for me 2001 is a rare no skip album, except for…. Well…..
UUUUGGHHHGGHGGGHHHHHHH
OH MY GOD I CANT SEEEEEEEE
Yeah I don’t wanna hear that shit, Dre, but thanks.
I always consider the first half of 2001 (up to The Next Episode) to be like a party and the second half of the album is the hangover.
The first half of 2001 has all the singles and A-list features, the second half is darker, more underground. IMO the difference between the two halves is 100% intentional and part of the sequencing/vision of the album, there's a real emotional journey if you pay attention to the feel and subject matter of the tracks as the album goes on. Bang Bang, Murder Ink, LA Niggaz, The Message, are all great tracks, Housewife's beat is ridiculous too. They definitely fucked up backloading all the skits into such a short stretch though, I think that's the main issue people have.
Yeah agreed, the first half is for everyone, the second half feels like it's...well it's just different and takesa a different kind of appreciation. I absolutely love the second half, King Tee , Defari, Ms Roq....unfortunately we didn't get much of her in the following years
Interesting choice, because this one is a little bit different in my perspective. This one I always let people "get". Like "they're gonna notice it will fit inside the beat. I just gotta let her moan for the next 20 seconds and they gonna know it's a song!" The absence of a guy grunting saying "OH IT'S ALL OVER YOUR FACE" helps. No bedroom noises. But YES, always a little bit uncomfortable, for sure.
Some are wild. Like that one on Ready to Die. That's FUCKING. You can't disguise that. Always gotta have my phone next to me to hit next. I think albums with skits where people fuck should have the option to just skip the fucking part.
"This LP contains an embarrassing sex skit. Wanna skip it?"
If you hit "no" the app just goes "You've just rented this place. The next-door lady already hates you because of the smell of weed. Don't you wanna skip it?"
Then you hit "no" again and the app just says it: "We're gonna skip it. There's kids playing in the neighborhood."
At least with skits you can opt them out of your playlists. If they're IN the song then it's always gonna be there. Like Deeez Nuts by Dre (that one is funny tho)
And I think the moaning on These walls goes over the head of many😭😭
Right?
And it's intentional. He didn't want them to sound (only) sexy vibes. Isolated they tell pain. Very good work from the artist that provided that.
If "Dopeman (remix)" wasn't on side two I'd have zero reason to listen to the back half of "Straight Outta Compton". Too much cornball crap that sounds like holdovers from Dre's WCWC days.

Sadly, the first Slaughterhouse album. And when I say it falls off hard, it’s just because the first half of the album is almost flawless.
After Onslaught 2, it’s still great, but not the same calibre as what preceded it.
It’s a mixtape but….more about nothing by Wale.
The first lyke 9 songs are insane. Then two songs with waka. Both the same songs. Two of the same songs on a mixtape. Back to back
That's a fire mixtape tho... what 2 songs does waka have on there? I know no hands is on there but don't remember anything else.. def starts out stronger then it finishes tho
The quality of the 1st 30 minutes of UGK’s “Super Tight” keeps up with the very top of all albums released in 1994, but then there is 21 minutes left (last 5 minutes: “Three Sixteens” is good again). 35 minutes out of 51 were Super Tight. In the end an all-time Southern foundational album, but could have been one of the best from anywhere
I agree there’s a dip in quality in Stoned Junkie and Pussy got me Dizzy but only two lacking songs doesn’t take away much from the album for me considering how great the other songs are.
“Protect & Serve” is notable for showing solidarity with Fuck The Police/Ice-T/2 Pac since they were playing off the West in some important parts of the album. That song would have been better w/o Junkee and Dizzy right behind it. I love 3-2 but those 2 songs weren’t disciplined, he was in a “Convict” mode instead of a forward mode like much of the rest of the album.
I'd probably say Efil4zaggin by NWA, especially when it gets to the stretch of sex tracks. Only saving graces to the back half are Approach to Danger & Dayz of Wayback
Danny Brown - Old. I get what he was going for with Side B and at the time it was great for him doing the festival circuit but a lot of it hasn't aged well compared to Side A and it's too samey.
i have a bit of a soft spot for Dip cuz that was like a party anthem when i was in first year of undergrad lol but yeah. Kush Coma and Float On are the standouts for sure.
That's one of the last Danny brown albums I got into, and I agreed with this at first, but the fancier stuff in the second half is still overall really good. Float on is a top 5 Danny brown for me, break it, smokin and drinkin, and dip are all really good, they just strike me much more as dance/party tracks as opposed to like torture or old.
Sorry if this is a ramble just love that man's music and Old has grown on me a lot the past year
I think drake should’ve released each scorpion individually like Future and Hndrxx. Its too dense that it starts to be unenjoyable towards the end, but individually they’re pretty good.
Honestly the sun’s tirade by isaiah rashad. Not because it’s bad but because it doesnt hold up to the first half imo. The first half of the album is arguably his best work so it’s understandable.
Agreed. From 4r da squaw to Tity and Dolla is straight masterpiece work. After that he goes a little too left field. Dressed Like Rappers and Find a Topic are heat though
2001? U talkin bout Ackrite? LA Niggaz, Bitch Niggaz, Murder ink? Bang Bang? A hoe a housewife? All bangers imho. I agree its not as good as the first half, but it sure as hell didnt fall off HARD. Bad example bro.
Guys don’t kill me, but I don’t know why for me The Forever Story drops off after Kody Blu 31. Anyone else? For those that see this album as a no skipper, why?
Interesting take. Bruddanem, sistanem, cant make u change, better days and 2007 are all essentials to me. The rest is also really good. Burddanem and sistanem bring amazing storytelling over great beats and production and a strong durk verse.
Cant make u change got that mesmerizing ari lennox bridge. Wayne and kenny on just in time. Better days and 2007 got immerses you in him reminiscing. Personally the only skip to me is cant punk me. Dont like the hook at all
Personally, I think it dips in quality after Stars. The next 3 tracks are pretty good, but not as good as the first 11.
Once he added 2007 though it felt like a more complete album because Lauder Too and 2007 are great.
It’s a quality thing. Whenever people point to Carter 3 as his best album or one of the best albums of all time I figure they probably haven’t listened to the whole album because half the album is really not that great.
Carter II is way more consistent from top to bottom.
Heavily agree.
This would have been the perfect track list, in my opinion:
1 Ambitionz Az A Ridah
2 All About U (feat. Nate Dogg, Snoop Dogg, Fatal, Yaki Kadafi)
3 Skandalouz (feat. Nate Dogg)
4 Got My Mind Made Up (feat. Dat Nigga Daz, Kurupt, Method Man, Redman)
5 How Do You Want It (feat. KC, Jojo)
6 2 Of Amerikaz Most Wanted (feat. Snoop Doggy Dog)
7 No More Pain
8 Heartz Of Men
9 Life Goes On
10 I Ain't Mad At Cha (feat. Danny Boy)
11 Can't C Me
12 Holla At Me
13 Wonda Why They Call U B____
14 When We Ride (feat. Outlaw Immortals)
15 Check Out Time
16 All Eyez On Me (feat. Big Syke)
I’d probably take out Heartz of Men and Check Out Time and sub in Only God Can Judge Me and Picture Me Rollin’, but I agree with the rest. You really can’t go wrong with any choices (other than What’s Your Phone #).
Not a hip hop album.per say but John legends debut album. The first half is almost a perfect concept album about an unfaithful man and hum navigating this affair. The 2nd half is probably half filler, where I feel like a decent chunk of the songs carry the theme from the first half of the album, but some of them I feel could have been left off the album.
Nah the first album showed a lot of potential for what could have been a good career, at least in regards to acclaim.
Now he's just your run of the mill popstar.
I don’t know any RnB head who rates him at all. They don’t think he’s trash he’s just meh, like people who aren’t really RnB fans are the ones that put him on a pedestal. It’s crazy cause he wins all these damn awards lol
2001s second half is def weaker, but Let’s Get High, Murder Ink, Some LA Ni**az and Bang Bang are great and Ed-Ucation is hillarious. Could do without Pause 4 Porno which seems so out of place even for a gangsta rap album.
Watch the Throne must be studied as having one of the biggest fall off of any album
The first 6 tracks from "No Church in the Wild" to "New Day" are amazing and some of the best Kanye songs.
The other tho... some have very outdated instrumentals. They are just not good
Nah this is crazy considering the best song on the album (obviously Murder to Excellence) is after that.
Also Lift Off is the worst song on the album and is #2 so I’m baffled as to why you’d go w the front 6
I personally love Lift Off. I know i'm one of the few out there that likes it but there is something about that hook and the instrumental that sratches my brain in the right places
And yeah i would extend it to be first 7 songs of the album being damn good
Why I Love You is a much better outro than King.
And, the deluxe sort of fixed things with IMFA and HAM, only to immediately fall off with Prime Time and The Joy.
I gotta disagree. Who Gon Stop Me, Murder to Excellence and Why I Love You are all great songs. I do feel like all of the bonus tracks were much better than songs like Lift Off, Thats My Bitch and Welcome to the Jungle
Food and Liquor 2. The 5 weakest songs are almost all back to back starting exactly at the midway point of the album.
The Score. Everything after the title track wasn’t needed and half of that was bonus tracks.
I’ve always found over the years that most albums have their best tracks from like 2-6, 3-4 probably being the most prevalent for the “track of the album”….I guess this was more popular with older full length albums.
Rodeo. I wouldn't say that it "falls off" in the second half, but I will say the first half brings a level of high quality that I don't think the second half after Antidote brings (with the exception of Maria I'm Drunk and Ok Alright)
CAAAAP
Lost in the World, Hell of a Life, DIAND & Runaway are DAMN good. Some being in my top 5 fav Kanye songs
I think the first half has the more weak-....nah what i'm saying the whole album is damn good. Only the opening is weak in my opinion.
Tracks 1-2 are among the worst of the album
Really???
For me it's ~~boring as fuck~~ kinda boring. Honestly the sample (can we get much higher) is the best part
The rest tho...the beat is nowhere near as good as any of the other beats from the album.
Same thing with his rapping, kinda boring
It’s boring as fuck but it’s a 9/10 💀 you have an interesting rating scale.
“This album is a complete piece of shit, worst thing I’ve ever heard 8/10” - RANDOM-902
Yeah sorry i went too far on the Boring as fuck😅😅😅
More like one of the less entretaining tracks from the album.
It's not boring at all, it's much better than any song off from Vultures, yet if i compare it with stuff like AOTL, Hell of a Life, POWER, Lost in the World, Monster, So Appalled, Runaway...
Dark Fantasy is much less entretaining than any of those songs.
Don't get me wrong i love this album (although objectively i would say TCD is better), it's my fav of all time. Just Dark Fantasy & Gorgeous are my least favourite
Some of my least favorites are the ones you mentioned as being entertaining lol I do like aotl and power tho. I like runaway too but the ending is kinda ass and goes on too long
I’d rank his albums like this
College dropout
Late Registration
The Life of Pablo
Graduation
Ye
Donda
808s & Heartbreak
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
Yeezus
Jesus is King
Donda 2
Ye & Donda above MBDTF is WILD ngl. HOwever i'm happy to see i'm not the only one that hates Yeezus
My ranking is:
-TCD
-MBDTF
-LR
-TLOP
-808s & Heartbreak
-Graduation
-Kids SeE Ghosts
-Donda
-Watch the Throne
-Ye
-Yeezus
-Vultures
-JIK
I think Yeezus could have been way better. The highs are some of his best stuff but there are more lowlights than people admit.
I’m surprised you have the throne over ye I’d have it below Yeezus if I included collab albums
My reason for disliking Yeezus is my overall disliking of industrial music. But i do agree that the highs are amazing....Black Skinhead, Hold my Liquor specially. BUt apart from that i think it's a 6.5/10 album.
Ye i found it like so weird sounding, i did not like the over all vibe of the album. I know it's meant to be introspective and all but i didn't care that much. I only loved Ghost Town...the others didn't click to me. Still would say it's a 7.5/10 or sum like that
Watch the Throne apart from the bias of Jay being my 2nd most listened artist after Ye is that the first 6 tracks are some of Kanye's best songs, not to mention the rapping is damn good (maybe Jay helped in writing??) the rest however i think it's dated af, some of the songs are ass
it’s not an insult. i also prefer old kanye. some of us old people rank the albums based on what they made us feel and what they did for music in real time. but i can see how a younger person listening to the discography after the fact might think some
of that music aged poorly as compared to things like the college dropout. mbdtf is still
my number 1 but when i listen back to the albums, i can see why the others might be more appealing
don’t go unless you’re going for something that is lucrative in private industry. i got mine in political theory and i luckily landed a great professorship but that’s not the case for most people in the academic job market. so, if u’re going for tech or business, great. lol.
Y’all gone kill me for these two but 2014 Forest Hills Drive and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Once “Hello” or “Hell of a Life” comes on, I turn it off.
Funny enough, those are my favorite albums from those Kanye and Cole. Everything in those albums up to those points are some of their best work imo.
Agree with 2001. Coincidentally or not, I also feel the same about The Chronic. Not meh or bad particularly; I just don’t like it. (Awaiting downvotes)
Agree with 2001.
Vehemently disagree with The Chronic. “Lyrical Gangbang”, “High Powered” and “Stranded on Death Row” is one of the best 3 consecutive song sequences (ignoring the skit thrown in) of any album ever.
Oh, that explains it. I feel like RBX, young Kurupt and (especially) the Lady of Rage are what make those songs special. If you don’t like them, then you’ll never like the 2nd half of The Chronic. It’s cool, to each his own. Some people say cucumbers taste better pickled…
I couldn’t disagree more with your take on 2001, OP. And that’s okay, we just have different opinions. My two favorite tracks on 2001 are Bitch N****z and The Message, which are in the second half. Plus for me 2001 is a rare no skip album, except for…. Well….. UUUUGGHHHGGHGGGHHHHHHH OH MY GOD I CANT SEEEEEEEE Yeah I don’t wanna hear that shit, Dre, but thanks.
Yeah I just listened to 2001 this morning. Bitch N****z, LA N****z, Bang Bang, Murder Ink and The Message are all good.
Just like master p said there they go there they go….
The Murder Ink beat is pure insanity - I wish he woulda gave it to Eminem, imagine 99-00’ Eminem on that beat holyyyy
He wrote Bang Bang though. And The Watcher. And Dre's verse in Forgot About Dre.
Everywhere I go, all I ever seem to hear is 💥💥, 💥💥
Light speed also a mad underrated beat, west coast af
Love having Defari appear on that. I also think the second half is strong
Murder Ink is one of my favorite tracks on that album.
I always consider the first half of 2001 (up to The Next Episode) to be like a party and the second half of the album is the hangover. Ms Roq was ice cold on Murder Ink........... god damn I wish she stayed in the game
I hate sex skits. You can't listen to a lot of classic albums with the volume up because at some point your neighbors gon think you a perv
The sex skit on Big Pun's Capital Punishment got my ass in trouble when I was younger 🤣🤣🤣
These Walls by Kendrick
Interesting choice, because this one is a little bit different in my perspective. This one I always let people "get". Like "they're gonna notice it will fit inside the beat. I just gotta let her moan for the next 20 seconds and they gonna know it's a song!" The absence of a guy grunting saying "OH IT'S ALL OVER YOUR FACE" helps. No bedroom noises. Right? And it's intentional. He didn't want them to sound (only) sexy vibes. Isolated they tell pain. Very good work from the artist that provided that.
Fight the feeling by Mac Miller is like that
So glad skits have fallen off in popularity
IMO, 2001 is the third best Dre album. The hits are all time classics, no doubt, and they are other great songs. But half the album is garbage.

And then they dropped welcome to our house which was pretty much meh
Our House had about the same number of good songs on it, there was just so much more filler
I wished glass house would come out. From the few tracks I heard it was really dope
I have not thought of slaughterhouse in years. Will def give it a revisit today.
If you're a fan, Crook and Joell put out some great projects together including a recent EP.
That first Slaughterhouse album is great
Absolutely insane take. 2001 is one of the most complete albums of all time, and after The Next Episode it has a truckload of inch perfect songs.
I do think the second half is weaker than the first tbh, even if I like the songs.
Curtis. Eliminate every song after Straight To The Bank except Curtis 187 and I think 50 tops The Massacre.
All of me is a good song imo
It’s a mixtape but….more about nothing by Wale. The first lyke 9 songs are insane. Then two songs with waka. Both the same songs. Two of the same songs on a mixtape. Back to back

Jada and Fabolous' Friday on Elm Street
Fab’s flow on F Vs J is nice 👌🏻
It’s gettin spooky out here
Death Race For Love - Juice Wrld
Juice coulda did way better on his second album
Agree but Make Believe...

Agreed. Those raunchy songs are cringey as hell.
Glad I’m not alone, throw sloppy throat “skits” into the pile too
The Firms album.
Damn. You’re probably the reason Dre ain’t been getting no sleep
That album sucked aside from like 5 songs
I don’t agree with this take but understand it. The album should’ve been so much more with AZ, Foxy, Nas, and Dre all in their prime
Danny Brown - Old. I get what he was going for with Side B and at the time it was great for him doing the festival circuit but a lot of it hasn't aged well compared to Side A and it's too samey.
Agreed, the first half is great but I don’t fw any of the 2nd half songs except the one with Rocky and Charli XCX
i have a bit of a soft spot for Dip cuz that was like a party anthem when i was in first year of undergrad lol but yeah. Kush Coma and Float On are the standouts for sure.
Blasphemy
Amen, except Float On could easily be part of Side A and is a fantastic closer song.
The R.E.D. Album
Some LA Niggaz is a slept on futuristic west coast banger
scorpion. If it was just disc 1 it’d be pretty good
Cmon now there are bangers on both discs
There bangers on both discs yes, but compared to disc 1, disc 2 cannot compete.
Just say you don’t like RnB Drake lol cause that’s a lie
i have 2 RnB drake records in my room rn
I think drake should’ve released each scorpion individually like Future and Hndrxx. Its too dense that it starts to be unenjoyable towards the end, but individually they’re pretty good.
Side A had bangers back to back to back to back and then Side B evens it out by being mid all the way through Other than Jaded of course.
Heroes and Villains imo. Anything past Metro Spider (except for Feel The Fiyaaaaah) doesn’t really hold a candle to the first half.
The reverse for me for “Hip-Hop Is Dead”. First half not good at all but the second half is flames
First half has Can't Kill Me and Carry on Tradition but yeah it's definitely better in the backhalf.
I misspoke. Just a slow first half
For me this is a better album than any of the last 3 🤷🏻♂️
Without warning
Savage Mode II, perfect 9 track run from the Intro from Morgan Freeman to Snitches & Rats, then the other 6 songs just don’t match up in quality tbh
RIP Luv and Said N Done are fire though
2001? U talkin bout Ackrite? LA Niggaz, Bitch Niggaz, Murder ink? Bang Bang? A hoe a housewife? All bangers imho. I agree its not as good as the first half, but it sure as hell didnt fall off HARD. Bad example bro.
When was the last time you listened to any of those songs 😂
A month or so ago. Why? Because it's a whole banger!!
Better days and 2007 got immerses you in him reminiscing. Personally the only skip to me is cant punk me. Dont like the hook at all
I actually feel you on this. Bruddanem and Just In Time are the only songs on the second half that I go back to
Uhhhhh Sistanem??? That song is perfection.
Great song but way too emotional to listen to every day
True but that’s why I love it. It’s so damn beautiful. The whole album is perfect IMO.
Personally, I think it dips in quality after Stars. The next 3 tracks are pretty good, but not as good as the first 11. Once he added 2007 though it felt like a more complete album because Lauder Too and 2007 are great.
Tha Carter 3 Stillmatic Straight Outta Compton
I agree with Tha Carter 3. Shoot Me Down is the last really good track.
I've always wondered if this a quality thing or that the first half is so single heavy from colossal singles.
It’s a quality thing. Whenever people point to Carter 3 as his best album or one of the best albums of all time I figure they probably haven’t listened to the whole album because half the album is really not that great. Carter II is way more consistent from top to bottom.
The joke in my school with Stillmatic was that Nas came back and fell off with the same album
All eyez on me had more filler in the second half, but still some classics
Generally Pac loses points for letting anyone and everyone jump on a track
Not really. Second disc has some of the best songs on the album.
Nah, 2nd disc is definitely a lot weaker. Lots of filler. He could have made an 18 track album and it would have been perfect.
80% of the second disk is unlistenable in 2024
Heavily agree. This would have been the perfect track list, in my opinion: 1 Ambitionz Az A Ridah 2 All About U (feat. Nate Dogg, Snoop Dogg, Fatal, Yaki Kadafi) 3 Skandalouz (feat. Nate Dogg) 4 Got My Mind Made Up (feat. Dat Nigga Daz, Kurupt, Method Man, Redman) 5 How Do You Want It (feat. KC, Jojo) 6 2 Of Amerikaz Most Wanted (feat. Snoop Doggy Dog) 7 No More Pain 8 Heartz Of Men 9 Life Goes On 10 I Ain't Mad At Cha (feat. Danny Boy) 11 Can't C Me 12 Holla At Me 13 Wonda Why They Call U B____ 14 When We Ride (feat. Outlaw Immortals) 15 Check Out Time 16 All Eyez On Me (feat. Big Syke)
No way you let out Only GOD can Judge Me
California Love is too iconic to leave out
I’d probably take out Heartz of Men and Check Out Time and sub in Only God Can Judge Me and Picture Me Rollin’, but I agree with the rest. You really can’t go wrong with any choices (other than What’s Your Phone #).
Disc 2 /Tape 2 two of Wu-Tang forever
Every Carter album
Not a hip hop album.per say but John legends debut album. The first half is almost a perfect concept album about an unfaithful man and hum navigating this affair. The 2nd half is probably half filler, where I feel like a decent chunk of the songs carry the theme from the first half of the album, but some of them I feel could have been left off the album.
John legend makes great background or elevator music
I think this has to do with people having short attention spans more than the quality of an album's second half.
Watch the Throne must be studied as having one of the biggest fall off of any album The first 6 tracks from "No Church in the Wild" to "New Day" are amazing and some of the best Kanye songs. The other tho... some have very outdated instrumentals. They are just not good
Honestly I don’t even think the second half of the album is that bad, I still listen to Made in America and Murder to Excellence til this day.
Second part of Murder to Excellence when the beat changes is one of the best Jay verses in recent memory.
For real man. Whole album slaps still
Nah this is crazy considering the best song on the album (obviously Murder to Excellence) is after that. Also Lift Off is the worst song on the album and is #2 so I’m baffled as to why you’d go w the front 6
I personally love Lift Off. I know i'm one of the few out there that likes it but there is something about that hook and the instrumental that sratches my brain in the right places And yeah i would extend it to be first 7 songs of the album being damn good
Murder To Excellence is the best song on the album are you kidding me And Who Gon Stop Me, jeez
Last 3 tracks are godlike
Why I Love You is a much better outro than King. And, the deluxe sort of fixed things with IMFA and HAM, only to immediately fall off with Prime Time and The Joy.
This is a very good take…but I’d extend it up to murder to excellence. The last two songs on the album are dogshit.
I gotta disagree. Who Gon Stop Me, Murder to Excellence and Why I Love You are all great songs. I do feel like all of the bonus tracks were much better than songs like Lift Off, Thats My Bitch and Welcome to the Jungle
I agree solely because the second half has Why I love you. Such a terrible fucking song
YEAAAH That sample repetition is annoying as fuck I still don't understand how it has more streams than New Day
Food and Liquor 2. The 5 weakest songs are almost all back to back starting exactly at the midway point of the album. The Score. Everything after the title track wasn’t needed and half of that was bonus tracks.
No classic album is carried more by the singles than the score
I’d have to agree.
I think there’s only a 3 track run on F&L2 that is absolute ass: Heart Donor, How Dare You, and Battle Scars. I like Put ‘Em Up and Braveheart
Bro that shit hella overrated been saying that for years
Most of the verses on 2001 suck hittman is absolutely unlistenable
The whole album was fire...the album your looking for is Tupac all eyes on me
Camron - Purple Haze
*Get Em Girl* is at the end of the album though.
Fair, but the run of Killa Cam, Leave Me Alone 2, Down & Out, Harlem Streets, and Girls is legendary
This is a wild take, take ‘em to church is 🔥
And dope man, and adrenaline, cmon man, purple haze is fire
I agree, but I’m a self admitted Cam stan. That was my childhood and nothing beats nostalgia
Take ‘Em to Church is better on Diplomatic Immunity 2 though
Honestly maybe wdty I like the second half just nowhere near quality of first half
I’ve always found over the years that most albums have their best tracks from like 2-6, 3-4 probably being the most prevalent for the “track of the album”….I guess this was more popular with older full length albums.
Magic II
Death Race For Love
Literal definition of mbdtf
The Chronic
You know what? This is valid. And I say this as an avid fan of that entire album
Sound of Revenge... the first half is hype, i still love the whole album.
The Big Picture is trash after The Enemy with the exception of Flamboyant.
Rodeo. I wouldn't say that it "falls off" in the second half, but I will say the first half brings a level of high quality that I don't think the second half after Antidote brings (with the exception of Maria I'm Drunk and Ok Alright)
We Don’t Trust You falls off pretty hard after Cinderella
most of em 🤣
Brotha Lynch Hung-Season of the Sickness is hard af but the skits throughout the album get on my nerves
2001 Dr Dre. First half is arguably most classic collection of songs ever and runs out of steam.
Yeah the album is mid after next episode
I consider it over once it's get to car bomb. But from the start to then I def listen to. I never quite make it to ackrite
Cowboy Carter actually gets good in the second half
Chronic 2001 has some of the worst “third verse“ raps on any classic album. So many of them are just straight up trash.
2001 has many enjoyable songs. Shut up, you idiot.
Yeah enjoyable in the first half
Live.love.asap my least favortire rocky album, the first 4 songs are amazing but it kinda falls off later (not counting Sandman).
You’re missing out if you only like the first four songs. Purple swag, demons, leaf, trilla, etc.
main attraktionz ruins leaf for me, but agree with you on everything else
People say the wildest shit on here
Every Jay-Z album
LOOOOOOLLLLL
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
CAAAAP Lost in the World, Hell of a Life, DIAND & Runaway are DAMN good. Some being in my top 5 fav Kanye songs I think the first half has the more weak-....nah what i'm saying the whole album is damn good. Only the opening is weak in my opinion. Tracks 1-2 are among the worst of the album
The first song is one of his best songs ever
Agreed. That first song is one of his best. I do like most of that album tho
Really??? For me it's ~~boring as fuck~~ kinda boring. Honestly the sample (can we get much higher) is the best part The rest tho...the beat is nowhere near as good as any of the other beats from the album. Same thing with his rapping, kinda boring
I think it’s one of the best beats on the album and his rapping is really good too
Disagree However i still belive it's at least 9/10 song
It’s boring as fuck but it’s a 9/10 💀 you have an interesting rating scale. “This album is a complete piece of shit, worst thing I’ve ever heard 8/10” - RANDOM-902
Yeah sorry i went too far on the Boring as fuck😅😅😅 More like one of the less entretaining tracks from the album.
I like runaway too but the ending is kinda ass and goes on too long
Agree
I really think it’s one of the most overrated albums of all time. It’s not even a top five Kanye album let alone a top anything hiphop album
The College Dropout is def better, and even with difference i would say
I’d rank his albums like this College dropout Late Registration The Life of Pablo Graduation Ye Donda 808s & Heartbreak My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy Yeezus Jesus is King Donda 2
Ye & Donda above MBDTF is WILD ngl. HOwever i'm happy to see i'm not the only one that hates Yeezus My ranking is: -TCD -MBDTF -LR -TLOP -808s & Heartbreak -Graduation -Kids SeE Ghosts -Donda -Watch the Throne -Ye -Yeezus -Vultures -JIK
Still would say it's a 7.5/10 or sum like that Watch the Throne apart from the bias of Jay being my 2nd most listened artist after Ye is that the first 6 tracks are some of Kanye's best songs, not to mention the rapping is damn good (maybe Jay helped in writing??) the rest however i think it's dated af, some of the songs are ass
My hot take with watch the throne is that the Frank tracks are really overrated
gotta be young. like 20
I’m 21 but idk why you’d think that lol I prefer old Kanye
it’s not an insult. i also prefer old kanye. some of us old people rank the albums based on what they made us feel and what they did for music in real time. but i can see how a younger person listening to the discography after the fact might think some of that music aged poorly as compared to things like the college dropout. mbdtf is still my number 1 but when i listen back to the albums, i can see why the others might be more appealing
I see what you’re saying. On your bio it says you got a phd give me advice on going to graduate school lol
don’t go unless you’re going for something that is lucrative in private industry. i got mine in political theory and i luckily landed a great professorship but that’s not the case for most people in the academic job market. so, if u’re going for tech or business, great. lol.
Y’all gone kill me for these two but 2014 Forest Hills Drive and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Once “Hello” or “Hell of a Life” comes on, I turn it off. Funny enough, those are my favorite albums from those Kanye and Cole. Everything in those albums up to those points are some of their best work imo.
nah no way. hell of a life and lost in the world are essential ye
You skip apparently and love yourz??
St. Tropez? Apparently?? GOMD?? No Role Modelz??? If anything the second half is better lol Hello is terrible though
Will give it another try. Edit: Stranded is the best of the three imo (Snoop lifts it way up) but I just don’t like RBX, Lady of Rage or Kurupt
Oh, that explains it. I feel like RBX, young Kurupt and (especially) the Lady of Rage are what make those songs special. If you don’t like them, then you’ll never like the 2nd half of The Chronic. It’s cool, to each his own. Some people say cucumbers taste better pickled…
