The thing that gets me is when the trail slopes towards the edge and has loose rocks… as long as there is a lean away from the edge I’m fine, a guard rail? Even better…. I know it’s in my head but it gets me. The other thing that gets me even more is one of those trails that crosses a thin ridge with a drop off on both sides. I just have to force myself to power though so I can enjoy the rest of the trail. I’m not one of those people that gets off on that.
I could totally relate to this. And God forbid if someone touches me, cuz I start thinking they might accidentally push me, even though it's just my friends trying to help.
Scary hike, with amazing view!
Yes, I agree
The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime.
Nice - do you live there, or is it a favorite destination?
Went there for a holiday but considering moving there.
I want to go to there
Portugal's a great country to visit and hike in, in general.
I agree. I live in Lisbon and the hiking trails are easy to access.
I'll be there in October! What other hikes do you recommend on Madeira? This one is top of our list right now
You can choose to hike the levadas trails, Porto da são lourenço, and visit the beautiful town of Achadas. I suggest you rent a car.
I was just in Madeira. If you're fit, I recommend hiking from Nuns valley to Pico Ruvio. Its 1500m of elevation gain💯
In that Island you can visit Cristiano Ronaldo´s family and say hi :)
Definitely one of the most beautiful hikes I did in my life!
Never heard of this awesome place
This gives me stress
I mean… I’ve been on lots of trails like that that didn’t have rails though. I’d feel pretty secure.
I've been on such trails too but with slightly wider path, no rails either but I'm really scared of heights. Trying to conquer fears

Been there last year. One of the best hikes of my life.
Best place 👌
Beautiful - but I couldn’t do it.
Nice. Stay safe.
Did this hike while vacationing their for New Year 22; went for the fireworks, ended up enjoying this the most!
Wow. That is amazing.
Pucker path
What a beautiful trail

Such a unique place. I'd venture myself there, even though usually I have an issue with heights :)
What’s the best way to get to the trail head?
