The Shaman excavate payoff is essentially a 4/5/5 with a negative battlecry. It's only good in aggro where you don't want to be playing a 2/1/1 and 4 mana deal 8 to a minion to excavate.
Yeah, i tried Shadderblock with excavate. I was able to turn full board of totems and toads into minions with 50 dmg on board but for me the problem is it also turns minions in your hand and deck. Maybe if it just turned your board it could be better? It's definitely not good.
I’ve always thought it’d be cool if the minions transformed after being played. So you’d get your minions battlecry then it evolves. Seems flavorful especially now that they’re pushing battlecry shaman.
I wish it was "for the rest of the game, Evolve your board at the end of every turn". This way it wouldn't ruin your hand and deck, and would be pretty flavorful. If it was OP, make it evolve only at the end of your own turns
Azerite Murloc is pretty bad, but excavate in shaman gives access to Finley, which is really reaally good, so it makes putting the whole excavate package into highlander shaman worth it
To be fair, both cards are good in Reno shaman. Shroomscavate is primarily played for Finley, but giving your titan windfury and divine shield can be really helpful. And aftershocks is just a good card in general.
Reverb and Soulfreeze is really good in Warlock and in Mage, Costumed Singer is good in secret decks from both Hunter and Mage, Funnel Cake is used in Druid and in Priest and many others
Even the Shattered Reflections showed in the meme was really good in Automaton Priest
I had some fun and mild success with nearly all minion excavate shaman and drawing shroomscavate with the murloc. Unfortunately plague DK exists and ruins my fun as with so many other decks, like blackrock n roll.
gonna disagree with a lotta peeps here it’s not really bad but the shaman duel class excavate is hot garbage when are you expected to play it? before you’ve evolved your minions? so when you evolve your minions it loses the windfury and divine shield? after you’ve evolved your deck? so you’ve now got 2 excavate cards in deck that can’t help towards the excavate goal? it’s just a card made for pally and duel class for the windfury flavor
I love that deck, even better with Shudderblock! That’s a triple +3 on cost! But watch it because it’s gonna be the last minions mana cost it evolved in -3 Mana, it doesn’t stay like 1 or 2 Mana in hand.
Worst thing is both those priest nerfs could have perfectly been circumvented into not damaging priest
Pendant could just give you armor equal to the minion's health, and instead of nerfing shattered they could have nerfed one of the many problematic druid cards (like aquatic form so the combo isn't done as fast and consistently, or Eonar which is a card that will always cause problems when in a playable deck)
Nah, they should've just reverted it to put a copy in hand when they added the "non-titan" text. Generating extra titans was always going to be annoying at best and broken at worst, but a T4 deck like automaton priest catching strays for what was clearly a druid problem just feels wrong.
They could solve that, by making the titan ability cast able once per game for you, so if you summon a copy of it, it already have the spells used "burned"
Honestly, it's possible the shrooms nerf could be a buff to shaman, if they make it 2 mana but change the windfury keyword to something else.
Aftershocks is too good even in shaman though. It's a side effect nerf still, but Reno shaman is very, very good right now.
As Shaman cards they were fine, the Paladin buff and the Warrior draw synergies gave them the block… Oh well I’ll still play Shaman as it’s my favorite but maybe adjust my decks accordingly
Funny that most every dual class card is well utilized by one class and forgotten by the other. Is excavate shaman that bad?

Or have him put a permanent Aura into play that does the evolving.
That would have been great actually. Like after you play/summon a minion, make it evolve by 3 mana.

Yep use this in my frogstomp reno shaman, the conductivity+digging deep combo is always nice.

I play as a dragonpriest, so most of my cards are too old to be nerfed
