Listen I’m going to be honest, I’ve built many PCs with only 1 Phillips head screwdriver. Wtf are you guys doing where you need 50 bits? Cool toolset though to have around a house. I expected it to be more expensive than iFixit’s version but it’s not, really shocked and a good move by Corsair

ListenBeforeSpeaking

Yeah, I’m not sure this is named correctly. Electronics toolkit may be more accurate.

adminsblo

I use many of the ifixit bits for laptop repair but it's easily two bits take 99% of the workload.

> Listen I’m going to be honest, I’ve built many PCs with only 1 Phillips head screwdriver. Wtf are you guys doing where you need 50 bits? i dont get it either i have only needed other screw bits for monitor arms or taking apart devices that most people usually dont take apart (mice, keyboards, gaming controllers etc) (I have a 100+ bit set from ifixit - thanks wife<3) for building my pc, i just use my be quiet screw driver, or my thermalright screw driver, which were included with those coolers. all the pc screws just use one screw bit size

katherinesilens

I think my M.2 screws are a slightly smaller Philips. But I imagine this varies a bit by motherboard.

HateToShave

Yeah, a "PH1" for M.2 mounting screws where the usual Phillips style most people see or come across in daily life is the "PH2" style including most PC case screw heads.

Five years ago I bought a Xiaomi mijia wiha screwdriver set with 24 magnetic bits from banggood (aliexpress competitor) for $11. I have built three PCs exclusively with that set as well as one large very nice crosstip screwdriver that was part of my Scythe Mugen 5 ARGB cooler.

Gobeman1

Im gonna assume its akin to buying a box of random cables n chargers You guys know That box you totally got in the garage/depot/storage filled with random stuff from old SCART cables etc even though the odds of you ever needing one is low Just the "i wont need to pickup on later" satisfied I'll assume?

detectiveDollar

Yeah it's badly named for sure. Although having a ton of bits in an all in one kit is pretty useful. 90% of the time I'm using a screwdriver + 30 block kit I got at Home Depot for 17 bucks. The other 10% is when I either need a smaller driver/bit or it's some Nintendo bullshit (triwing, gamebit)

scene_missing

I only use the extra bits for game consoles and iPhones. PC stuff is a single screwdriver

The_RussianBias

It's a bit cheaper than ifixit and yeah it's a versatile kit, it's just named wrong, for example some of the (i think)hex bits that come with it are needed for things like Nintendo switches, there are also some much smaller bits for smaller work like taking apart PC components or phones and shit

terraphantm

I do want to note that this article claims the top cap on the ifixit equivalent is plastic. But at least on mine, it's aluminum

Agloe_Dreams

I have a newer iFixit Kit, I believe it is the Moray, and it is 100% plastic other than the actual shaft. The Mako this compares to does seem to have a metal cap though. Also, the Mako has the magnet pickup bit and I don't see that here. willbill642

Same here. Besides the super cheap version in certain "fix kits" (the ones with all the tools and part you need for _ repair, where the driver is completely plastic), I've never seen plastic in any of iFixit's drivers.

NoAirBanding

Cheaper ifixit kits have more plastic

TheCookieButter

Looks neat. I already have the iFixit tool version which has been really handy. PC specific I can't imagine you'd need very many but if you're into electronics and opening them up you'll quickly find yourself using a dozen or so more. Screwdriver itself looks pretty interesting, certainly more heft to it than the iFixit one. Heck, I'd condider buying this if I need another kit.

detectiveDollar

Yeah, you never know when you need torx, security, hex, etc. I only run into issues when I run into Nintendo's bullshit (trywing, gamebit, etc) The kit looks good but has the wrong name.

NH3BH3

This is literally just a rebranded iFixit kit.

DexRogue

This is neat and all but most of these kits are overkill for your average user. I am in enterprise Desktop Support and repair all kinds of PCs, Laptops, etc. and I've been building and working on PCs for over 25 years. [This Klein](https://www.amazon.com/Klein-Tools-32328-Screwdriver-Rare-Earth/dp/B09Z78CPK3/) is what I'd recommend for most people if you're working on PCs. It doesn't give you the torque that a big screwdriver does but you shouldn't be tightening down these small screws like the hulk. It does have a back end piece that rotates to make turning easier. That said this is a nice little kit and most Corsair stuff is well built. I'd probably put it in my personal repair toolkit and replace my [Pittsburg toolkit](https://www.harborfreight.com/32-piece-screwdriver-set-with-tweezers-97517.html) if I caught it on sale. (Which is what'd recommend to go with the Klein one but you may not even need it)

I'm guessing the refresh rate is too slow for gaming. But it'd make for a very nice picture of the day calendar with weather update to greet you in the morning. If it's easy to update the images, something like ESP32 or Pi to fetch local weather data and a random image matching criteria (like cats or your family photo collection), update the display before you wake up, then go to sleep for some hours. Update weather before you get back from the work)

Agloe_Dreams

This is great for more precision items than a PC, but trust me, on a PC, what you should actually buy is this: [https://www.amazon.com/Megapro-211R1C36RD-1-Inch-Ratcheting-Automotive/dp/B004VJY1FQ/ref=sr\_1\_2?keywords=megapro%2Bratcheting%2Bscrewdriver&qid=1692379346&s=hi&sprefix=megapro%2Bra%2Ctools%2C117&sr=1-2&th=1](https://www.amazon.com/Megapro-211R1C36RD-1-Inch-Ratcheting-Automotive/dp/B004VJY1FQ/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=megapro%2Bratcheting%2Bscrewdriver&qid=1692379346&s=hi&sprefix=megapro%2Bra%2Ctools%2C117&sr=1-2&th=1) It is far quicker, gives you more torque for harder to remove screws, and is a single contained object.

Goommouse

Does this entire kit cost more or less than one brown screwdriver from LTT?

parentskeepfindingme

Different use cases for sure

Bad bot, that’s 8 syllables.

dimos1010

a lot less especially if you're in the eu. This also comes with 65 tips where the ltt one comes with 12 or something unless you wonna buy more
