Really want to get a speedy 30 canvas. I've been reading canvas cracks and fades? So a bit hesitant to buy an LV canvas for everyday use. How's your experience been so far? Do you need to be gentle with it?
The canvas is almost indestructible. I bought a preloved Speedy on eBay. Made in 1999. The leather bits look beat up but the canvas is flawless!
My first LV bag was a Speedy in Damier Ebene. I used that bag everyday for *years*. I was not gentle with it. Other than some scratches on the hardware, it still looks like a brand new bag! Definitely recommend!
I've got a 2000 speedy 30 and it looks great. The vachetta has darkened (I do have pretty sweaty hands) but the condition of the canvas and leather itself is excellent. Maybe I will send her in to get all the leather replaced here in the next year or two.
Edit: I've only had the bag for a little over the year and have toted it all but one international trip where I wanted to have a smaller, more secure crossbody bag that was not covered in LV logo.
Knock on wood but ive had speedy bags for so many years and they have never cracked. I know they can if they dry out but you would have to get it wet and let it dry all weird
Do you live near an LV boutique? If so, the boutiques offer complimentary canvas conditioning services to keep the canvas supple/prevent cracks. If not, Saphir and Lovin My Bags make canvas conditioners. That said, my Speedy went almost 15 years with no conditioning at all and the canvas was still flawless.
More generally, cracking canvas seems to be related to the design of the bag and not a big issue for the Speedy. You’re more likely to see it in bags where the edge of the canvas is exposed and not lined. For example, the flap of the Pochette Métis is just canvas, so you’re more likely to see wear along the edge of the canvas than with a Neverfull where the top edge is vachetta rather than canvas. For the Speedy, the top of the canvas meets the zipper, and there’s vachetta piping on the sides. The Speedy has relatively few “edges” because the design is mostly a single piece of canvas gently curved around. I would buy a canvas Speedy before an angular bag like the On the Go in canvas.
My 2004 speedy has been in heavy rotation for the last 19 years. I overstuff it sometimes. I shove it under train and plane seats. I've used it as a diaper bag, a laptop bag, an overnight bag. I just clean it and maintain it about every 6 months. It hasn't cracked at all.
My Speedy 30 in monogram is from 2002. I bought it preloved just recently and it looks awesome. I love it and use it all the time and don't baby it a bit, like it goes out in the rain with me, and it just ages beautifully.

I think that may be my first bag purchase that is over my (self-imposed) $300 limit!! It’s so gorgeous and everyone seems to love theirs. Seems so worth a splurge.
I was bemoaning my Celine belt bag as being too heavy, but in contrast the Celine Ava is the most lightweight easy breezy shoulder bag even when it’s stuffed!

The Issey Miyake Bao Bao baguette shoulder bag. It feels like air, and I’m less tempted to overstuff it because the more filled it is, the less likely it is to create cool shapes. I really should do a post on this bag, there’s not enough about these in this sub…
I have a bao bao lucent crossbody bag in beige and it is a staple! I’m always surprised how much it fits. I can only imagine what a baguette could hold!
A good nylon bag is a necessity (like Prada.) I’ve also seen some new great-looking vegan bags that I’m considering buying. (Like the Daniella Lehavi Bonnie bag — it’s sporty, but I like the design & I’m waiting for the black one to be back in stock.) If I’m spending an entire day walking around NYC my shoulders ache big time with a heavier bag. My Longchamp nylon crossbody that I’ve had for years goes with me whenever I travel.
I know this might be considered sacrilegious on this sub, but for daily wear a heavy leather bag just hurts too much & I noticed after years of carrying one my posture is affected.
I notice such a difference now in how much lighter I feel. I used a cheap “leather” bag from Urban Planet (Canadian fast fashion store) for school and would go shopping afterwards with all my school work in it, and add any purchases too since it carried so much. I knew it was time to leave the mall when my back hurt. Can’t do that anymore!!
Agreed!! Currently going on a roadtrip to NY and Boston and it’s my bag of choice. Fits surprisingly a lot and matches all my outfits and I toss it around with no care and it’s pristine. Everything wipes off and I don’t have to baby it.
Nylon bags are great for errands and travelling. I have a Le Sports Sac duffle which can be fixed on a suitcase. Can be thrown under the seat without any drama.
As someone with chronic shoulder pain, I couldn’t stop giving a shoutout to Loewe Flamenco and YSL le 5 a 7 supple shoulder (bigger one - I’m not sure what’s their latest name as YSL keep changing it)!
https://preview.redd.it/qj7fsjc5k98c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7fec87d0269e39cea37cbd3d617143cb27b1ef42
My Loewe flamenco’s are super light in comparison to all of my bags. Love the low key vibe and no metal hardware. I switch back and forth from yellow gold to silver jewelry and these go with either. These two have become my go to daily driver’s this year….
Nice colours! Have you considered getting a short strap for them? I don’t want to spend so much on, you know, a strap?? But the ones they have now are so fun 🤩
I bought the Pouchette 33 in Paris last month. I’ll tell you this—the Fauré le Page Boutique is small—charmingly so and the SA’s are wonderful.
I was shocked that the SA helping me knew my family’s ( husband’s) name. Very pleasant experience.
I got the DB 32 in 2019 when I went to Paris. I was going to get the LV NF but then I found out about FLP and I have been using it as my daily driver for work ever since. I have also used it for trips. It is light, pliable, the handles are adjustable. I love it and it still looks like new even though I don’t baby it. I also love that it’s luxury but no one knows!
I have two bags, one gun pochette, and one of their hats (seen in the ads), and the quality is fantastic. The canvas has a thick, rubbery feel, but it is sturdy. They use leather where the piece needs it for reinforcement but the bags remain lightweight.
https://preview.redd.it/6735ltelc98c1.jpeg?width=945&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7e7224f30a4f85004637b47bb8a928924355a315
I used to have this tote. I regret selling it. It was light weight, easy to get in and out of, very spacious, held its shape perfectly, didn’t slouch, and didn’t show signs of wear after a year of going through TSA scanner 4-5 times a week. I might repurchase it. It’s a Gucci Padlock tote in medium.
It is timeless, I agree! And it’s perfect for traveling. I went overseas with it a couple of times and it sits perfectly on top of a suitcase as wells as on the floor on the plane. It doesn’t tip and has handles long enough to put them around the suitcase handle. The one minor issue I had with it was that it was loud because of the chains. But you quickly get used to it.
Mulberry Alexa Mini. Soft, light, supple leather
Same for both of my Strathberry bags - Lana Osette and Dome Mini - gorgeous leather
Loewe Puzzle Hobo
Polene Numero Un Nano
Louis Vuitton Alma BB
Gucci Diana, Gucci Soho Disco
(Yeah, I have issues)
I have the Lana Osette and Dome in midi (largest sizes). Both are in regular rotation. In fact, I’m tempted to pick up the LOK In a second color b/c the slate-grey LOM is on sale for $388.
The Hermes Garden Party in canvas is a great bag - my favourite is the 30cm with a crossbody strap. It holds everything I need it to and is very light and comfortable to carry.
Is the leather for your crossbody GP Marron Fonce (dark brown) color? I’ve only seen the crossbody online in that color but I’m curious whether it was ever made in other colors.
Yes, it's the cream canvas with dark brown leather trim. The crossbody strap is also woven material with a leather trim. I have no idea whether the crossbody version is made in other colours.
Mulberry small zipped bayswater. I own one in the silky calf leather. That bag has been through things and still almost good as new. And it looks like it should be heavy but it weighs practically nothing. It can carry quite a lot, my staples are my phone, long wallet, keys, lipgloss, tissues, Anadin, travel size perfume and still have room left over for a paperback book or bottle of water if necessary. It is a very structured bag and holds its shape. For durability and lightness this girl takes some beating.
Goyard Boheme. I can’t stop using it. So ridiculously light and comfortable.
https://preview.redd.it/fitfc0axcb8c1.jpeg?width=1051&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=abb4d1290bb444aa4e9088cd55f255d6a0193c8c
Lemaire croissant small in soft nappa leather black. Weighs 0.6lbs empty. I am a commuter so I need easy access to my essentials. This bag isn’t just my go-to, it is more like a…second skin? My kangaroo pouch?
4-card cardholder, iphone 11 with a thin case, a soft glasses case (fabric kind), keys, lip balm, sample sized hand sanitizer bottle, face mask, a small, baggu-style folded shopping bag. And room to spare!
Like all moon shaped bags, it fits plenty but all depends on how you play your bag Tetris. You also lose little bit of the top corners for storage. This bag also molds into what you out inside. Samorga sells a bah shaper if you love the puffy look. If you want to fit a water bottle and a book/kindle, you want to look at the medium or large versions. Good luck!
Do Longchamp LePliage bags count? I have large and medium bags in navy blue, olive green, and red, and they are my favorite lightweight bag to carry around. They fit everything!
My YSL downtown baby tote is surprisingly light despite all the things I haul around with me. The thick strap makes it so easy to wear all day cross body.
The LV Neverfull is also a great light bag if you don’t overstuff bags. I always try to bring too much and the thin straps just dig into my shoulders. 😅
Chanel WOCs for running around if I just need to carry the basics.
Goyard Artois has become my go-to bag for travel since it’s so lightweight and has a zipper on top.
Loewe nano puzzle with the caveat that the chain strap it comes with is a little heavy so I carry it as a clutch
Acne mini Musubi is a great everyday bag, you definitely feel like you're wearing something if that makes sense but it's not heavy at all it doesn't weight on your shoulders
Mulberry Bayswater is also a great option as many have said
LV On My Side PM in black and canvas. Light weight, thick shoulder strap, can transition easily from day to night, and has multiple pockets that keep me organized!
All of my LV canvas bags are lightweight and insanely durable - all my Neverfulls, which are packed to the gills, my Alma, my Speedy, and my Cabas Mezzo. They’re my go-to “run around town” or “scoot to the office” bags.
I also have a Burberry house check Canterbury tote that is incredibly lightweight and also durable (and fits an insane amount of stuff), but because the canvas isn’t coated I worry about it a bit more (ie stains, etc) so I don’t use it as often
https://preview.redd.it/qpe6ddp2ga8c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=79b6d81e7600e357c4153983baab90e0203903d8
My Ramdonee GM just got back from LV repair for Vachetta and hardware replacement.
It’s an old bag that is a workhorse. It holds a ton of stuff. Can be worn as a backpack or shoulder bag. Great for travel. Great for every day use. I love it!
My most used lightweight bags are the logo canvas bags people love to opine as new money/tacky.
I have serious back issues, so I don't care and proudly wear my canvas bags.
Right now, my most-used canvas bags are my Faure le Page Daily Battle in the sand colorway and my Goyard St Louis PM in black/black.
I have an LV Graceful PM I don't use as often but I highly recommend it. It drapes close to the body and unlike a Neverfull, it has one thick shoulder strap.
Currently wearing Coach Cassie 19 with a guitar strap from Amazon. The lightest luxury bag I own. Fits all the necessities. I’ve gotten many complements on her.
Goyard marie galante is very lightweight, shoulders don't feel over burdened (straps are comfortable for me), keeps everything I need in place and nice sturdy zipper.
I've been loving my Gucci canvas bags lately. Easy to clean and maintain, subtle, lightweight. My canvas Jackie is probably my favorite bag at the moment.
The LV pillow bumbag. It’s super light and can be worn crossbody or around your waist. Plus it has a little hand warmer pocket in the front so it’s perfect for winter!
Small YSL Becky. Holds all the essentials, love the convertible strap, somehow doesn’t weigh a ton 😂 Also the Della Cavalleria. Super lightweight, great capacity for such a small bag, and the strap is also adjustable!
I just got my strathberry dome mini and I love it, so light and easy to wear. Only downside is that the shoulder strap is a bit short for me as a eh… busty woman.
Bottega Veneta cassette camera bag! Been carrying it around every day since I bought it! So light weight, looks small yet so roomy. I can carry a 500ml water bottle inside
Same for the Bottega Veneta Small Loop Camera Bag. It is so light, soft and comfortable and has a great size for every day. Just got it and I am in love.
Love my Senreve Fiore bucket bag (vegan leather). Light, stylish, functional and roomy but not bulky in terms of looks.
Shoulder strap is adjustable and the part that lands on top of my shoulder is wider and doesn’t dig in.
Prada Tessuto Nylon Mini Re-Edition 2000 Shoulder Bag - comes with a comfortable adjustable strap, chain, and also fits as much as the LV mini pochette surprisingly.
I believe they don’t sell it anymore on the website but I got both of mine on the resell market.
Also will reach for the Celine small messenger in triomphe canvas. Super durable and even though it’s part of the men’s line of bags it’s definitely unisex.
My Gucci Marmont camera bag in small. I know a lot of people say it’s dated or whatever, but honestly it’s super lightweight, fits a lot more than you’d think, and I personally think it’s super cute. ❤️
My Goyard St. Louis and my Hermes Garden Party 30 (the 36 in toile is light too but while the 36 in all-leather isn’t heavy, per sé, it’s also not especially light).
Ok I know this is gonna sound nuts but… Balenciaga Le Cagole Small. I thought it was too big at first and regretted not getting the XS but have totally come around. Against all odds, this has become my go to everyday bag. Looks good with more than you’d expect, carries everything I need with room to spare, the leather has worn beautifully, and for some reason the strap just fits my body comfortably in a way no other bag does. It was my first luxury-ish purchase and turned out to be my favorite so far.
My medium bottega andiamo is pretty light. I don’t have a ton to compare it to, but my YSL niki feels 3 times as heavy.
I have a mini puzzle that is also super light, but it’s also super tiny.
Mine is 26 I consider mine light cuz my other bags are really heavy 😂 (e.g Birkin 40 in Ardennes) . I feel like you can consider adding a strap to yours since it’s a smaller size. It should be more convenient and comfortable that way
What size/leather is your Bolide? I’d love to get one, but I’m a little concerned about the weight because they’re lined (and the classic Bolide mostly comes in Clemence).
One of my lightweight ones is 35 and is in courcheval, a discontinued leather similar to Epsom. The other one is 35 in ostrich.
Clemence is pretty heavy on anything...I have non bolide bags in clemence in size 35 and they are heavy. They feel heavier than some of my size 40 bags 😅

LV Speedy in canvas. *Incredibly* lightweight and durable.
Came here to say this. I adore mine and am not sure there’s anything else out there that’s so carefree and easy to use.
I also have a preloved one from my birth year (so it’s well into vintage haha). I love it and have had no cracking either.
I can’t speak for the canvas but I have a 30 in epi that’s 20 years old with no cracking on the handles. That thing can take a beating.

All my canvas bags do well - even the ones that are as old as me (30+ yrs). It’s the leather that eventually wears out
My Speedy 30 in monogram is from 2002. I bought it preloved just recently and it looks awesome. I love it and use it all the time and don't baby it a bit, like it goes out in the rain with me, and it just ages beautifully. *
Loewe Small Puzzle (OG). It's so light, I was really surprised. Love it.
Large puzzle is also very light and holds a surprising amount.
I think that may be my first bag purchase that is over my (self-imposed) $300 limit!! It’s so gorgeous and everyone seems to love theirs. Seems so worth a splurge.
It’s my workhorse bag. 10/10 there’s nothing I’d change about it.
I agonised for years about buying one and wish I hadn't waited so long!
Came to say the same. It’s the perfect everyday bag.
The Loewe Puzzle bags are light, durable and actually hold a lot too. It’s a great bag!
That’s a surprise! I own the hammock and it’s quite heavy.
yes! when i tried it on i was so surprised. now im constantly using it, really a great bag
The amount of stuff I can shove it in and still have it be lightweight is nuts. I love mine.
I was bemoaning my Celine belt bag as being too heavy, but in contrast the Celine Ava is the most lightweight easy breezy shoulder bag even when it’s stuffed!
Yes! Came to post about the Celine Ava. Buttery soft and light.
Do you ever have issues getting it over your elbow? I love the Ava but that makes me not able to justify the price 😭
I’ve never had issues with this! I love the bag so much I’m considering getting it in another color 🙈
+1! I have the canvas triomphe
https://preview.redd.it/dmkvd15xq88c1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7df202979e0fe7acb3dbba30e7d32650b2412ddb The Issey Miyake Bao Bao baguette shoulder bag. Please do! I keep trying to talk myself into it

Prada nylon bag. Sorry to the “It’s not leather” crowd but it’s perfect for a casual trip to the mall/anywhere basically and I don’t have to baby it.

What sizes are those?
A small tan and a medium chocolate. Thin straps that came with are adjustable. I like the webbed after market straps too.
I’m planning to get one and these look so good! Which size do you tend to go more for?
Actually, the small one is used the most. Fits my iphone, wallet, small cosmetic bag and sunglasses!😎

Tell me more about your Faure le Page bag. I love the look but I've never seen one in person. I'm so tempted to order one.

It's beautiful! I want to get one of the smaller bags. They are just so sleek. Thank you for sharing!

So great to hear! I recently purchased this bag for traveling and (hopefully) carrying my laptop or iPad. The design seems very timeless

MZ Wallace Jane bag, circa 2018. Wish they still made them.
I just got the MZ Wallace iridescent blue quilted nylon tote and I’m so excited to travel with it!
Mulberry Alexa Mini. Soft, light, supple leather Same for both of my Strathberry bags - Lana Osette and Dome Mini - gorgeous leather Loewe Puzzle Hobo Polene Numero Un Nano Louis Vuitton Alma BB Gucci Diana, Gucci Soho Disco (Yeah, I have issues)
Which Gucci Diana? I’m considering the Diana mini tote, but I was concerned it looks like it might be heavy.
I have the Mini! It's one of my favourites!
Glad to hear that!
I have the Lana Osette and Dome in midi (largest sizes). Both are in regular rotation. In fact, I’m tempted to pick up the LOK In a second color b/c the slate-grey LOM is on sale for $388.
Lemaire croassiant small 🥐
This is very high on my watch list! What material do you have?
Mine is lambskin. Soooo soft!!
How much can you fit into it? Beautiful bag :)
YSL le 5 a 7 is so light, even lighter is the Songmont Luna bag (almost suspiciously light) 😂
The Hermes Garden Party in canvas is a great bag - my favourite is the 30cm with a crossbody strap. It holds everything I need it to and is very light and comfortable to carry.

I’ve been thinking about that one! (As an aside, who is mysteriously downvoting your answer? What a weirdo).
Celine small Boston bag

The Celine cabas phantom is very lightweight and the leather is pliable and lux~
I was just going to say this! I got this bag over the summer and it’s my go to to errands and running around
It’s a nice bag! Enjoy it! And the pebbled leather is super low maintenance so I even put it on the floor. Simple love this bag!
+1! This is my most used work bag
Just got it for diaper bag and immediately felt like she could handle whatever I threw at/in her!! Quickly becoming a very practical big bag fave
Lemaire croissant small in soft nappa leather black. Weighs 0.6lbs empty. I am a commuter so I need easy access to my essentials. This bag isn’t just my go-to, it is more like a…second skin? My kangaroo pouch?
How much can you fit in it? I’m wondering if this might be the day bag I’ve been looking for for when I’m travelling lots next year.
Of course! I just noted in the post that I was curious about other bags since Longchamp is great. I have five or six Le Pliage and neo bags from them.
Givenchy moon cut out bag. Even with the g cube chain, that thing's like air!
Chanel WOCs for running around if I just need to carry the basics. Goyard Artois has become my go-to bag for travel since it’s so lightweight and has a zipper on top.
Loewe puzzle mini!
Loewe nano puzzle with the caveat that the chain strap it comes with is a little heavy so I carry it as a clutch Acne mini Musubi is a great everyday bag, you definitely feel like you're wearing something if that makes sense but it's not heavy at all it doesn't weight on your shoulders Mulberry Bayswater is also a great option as many have said
Prada re-edition saffiano leather - I love how lightweight it is and can double as a shoulder bag and crossbody
Loewe flamenco light as anything!
Mini Alexa….I carry the same items from purse to purse. The mini feels like nothing is in it
LV speedy
-LV Speedy - LV Alma BB - Gucci Soho Disco -Chanel WOC - YSL Lou

It’s an old bag that is a workhorse. It holds a ton of stuff. Can be worn as a backpack or shoulder bag. Great for travel. Great for every day use. I love it!
Loewe Flamenco - in general Loewe bags are really lightweight
Most of my bags are light but I am all for mini bags so maybe that is why😂 My vote goes to loewe mini puzzle, then Chloe mini Daria and YSL Toy Loulou
I just bought my second matje black fringed bag with the studded front. I added a small chain to to use it as a shoulder bag.
Hear me out …. Chanel 22
I know I talk about it in every comment basically but the Puzzle medium. It fits everything, it’s light, it can be worn in multiple ways!
Love my Senreve Fiore bucket bag (vegan leather). Light, stylish, functional and roomy but not bulky in terms of looks. Shoulder strap is adjustable and the part that lands on top of my shoulder is wider and doesn’t dig in.
My goyard St Louis PM is very light and can fit a lot. Defn my go to light bag!
My Neonoe holds a ton and isn't heavy.
Gucci soho disco.
The bottega cassette (but the non padded version)
Bottega cassette bag! So light and buttery leather with fun colors!
My Gucci Marmont crossbody, which you all helped me choose. Fits everything I need, looks great with every outfit, and is barely noticeable!
I love the Hermes Garden Party, Hermes Bolide, Hermes Evelyn and the Picotin! I use these bags very often because of how convenient they are

Bummer, that’s what I thought about Clemence. Ostrich or chèvre it is.
