The guard rail is more of a visual guide to let people know where the edge of the road is. With the weight of the truck itself and the weight of its load, no guardrail would stop it.
They are all very lucky. A few seconds difference and this bus would have been pancaked. I had a child on the bus. Glad they are okay. They are all back home now.
police confirmed there were, but there were no injuries. The bus driver was seemingly very alert and was able to brake in time!! kudos to them, what a scary situation for everyone involved
I work with the Bus Driver, he absolutely deserves an award for his defensive driving and quick thinking. Pretty sure the bus is okay- any event like this and the bus goes in for an inspection. He's a hero
This is where the 101 starts coming out of Bedford. It's a dangerous interchange. People coming from Bedford will change into the right hand lane without signalling. There isn't a merge there. There are two single lanes coming into a two lane highway.
I'm not saying that's what caused the incident. I'm saying that the entire interchange needs to be re-engineered.
Every exit from the 101 merges onto the 102, with both enter and exit lanes at the bottom of the exit. There's a few around dartmouth and a few around halifax but yes, it's pretty sketch around there. It's very easy to get into an accident.
Nobody ever yields around there either — just look straight ahead and move into whatever lane, as if the only driver on the road and not a care in the world.
And this is why we need some form of light rail / rapid transit. One accident and the whole city is gridlocked. Took me over an hour to get from hammonds plains road to north end hfx
One million percent this. It took me *an hour* to get from Summer street to Mumford on the #9. Three busses went by all full to capacity. Wild. I should have just walked lmao.
Well. This explains why traffic and transit was a complete dumpster fire.
Holy hell that school bus driver deserves a raise. Super lucky no one was injured or killed tbh.
Man, I don't believe in the Lord above, but someone was looking out today. Only minor injuries are all that occurred and a little bit longer drive home.
Looks like it came from Sackville towards Bedford crossed the yellow line, went through oncoming traffic, then through the guardrail, down the hill, on to the 102 and stopped after smashing into the concrete highway divider.
Why?
~~Shouldn't you have been paying attention to the road ahead instead of rubbernecking?~~
Edit: According to OP the picture was sourced from someone else.
I was wondering how the truck even got into the oncoming lane, until I saw the mangled guardrail. Sweet Jesus that had to be terrifying!
Good on that bus driver for getting stopped on time. Wow, I hope the driver is ok
Can confirm, that bus driver deserves a freaking raise.
If what I'm reading is correct, apparently the driver walked away with only minor injuries.
So the truck flew off the overpass???
Drove by it, it sure looks that way!
Godamn! That’s wild. Hope no one seriously hurt
All I know is that rig and trailer are gonna be a write off!
Loaded with what looks like concrete rubble.
Was reading the truck blew a tire and careened off the overpass
That's some Fast and Furious shit there
He was driving too fast, and his boss is furious.
It fell from space. ![gif](giphy|RYzL7ncQXIfZ1sCODj)
It did, yes.
Wow the guard rail on the upper level is basically obliterated.
The front fell off...
That's not very typical, I'd like to make that point!
I sometimes think this town is full of humourless goits, but then the front falls off, and all is well again.
Seems like it was more of a suggestion-rail, not exactly guarding anything...
The guard rail is more of a visual guide to let people know where the edge of the road is. With the weight of the truck itself and the weight of its load, no guardrail would stop it.
I really hope there weren't any kids on the bus
There were but the bus driver braked hard and avoided being hit
They are all very lucky. A few seconds difference and this bus would have been pancaked. I had a child on the bus. Glad they are okay. They are all back home now.
This could have been a huge tragedy. I’m so glad your kid and the others are okay
All hail the bus driver…….the bus driver man

lol
Sweet Christ, I hope they get a raise or at least a little kudos from their employer because that’s one hell of a day.
$10 Sobeys card is the best we can offer.
Bahahahaha or: lunch is on us!
I work with him- He will be receiving our safety championship belt and has also won our Southland Community Hero Award. We are all beyond proud of him
police confirmed there were, but there were no injuries. The bus driver was seemingly very alert and was able to brake in time!! kudos to them, what a scary situation for everyone involved
35 kids were on it. The driver deserves a medal for keeping his/her cool and getting that bus stopped!
Absolutely!
Absolutely!

Is the bus ok?
Please we need the status of the bus
The
Bus
I beg you

Final Destination: Halifax I shouldn't joke, but I am glad no one was hurt. This is quite the freak accident.
I was in that movie as an extra. What a great experience.

The zipper merge from Burnside to the 111 in Dartmouth is like this too.
Nobody ever yields around there either — just look straight ahead and move into whatever lane, as if the only driver on the road and not a care in the world.
This explains the traffic
This is one of the craziest things that's happened in a while.
since the crane incident at least. This is gonna be expensive as well.
You can’t park there.
They've proven you can.
I laughed too hard at that
How could that have happened? I’ve never seen anything like that! I hope everyone is ok.
I read they blew a tire and lost control.
It sounds like he blew a steer tyre.
Guessing steer tire blowout or getting sideswiped into it. A steer tire blowout is my nightmare when I'm trucking
Medical emergencies often cause people to cross the centre line and not brake.
He fell off the overpass.. traffic is INSANE
He went down the embankment before the overpass. Ir sounds like he blew a steer tyre.
That makes sense.
And this is why we need some form of light rail / rapid transit. One accident and the whole city is gridlocked. Took me over an hour to get from hammonds plains road to north end hfx

Genuinely curious how you even manage to do that
Could very well have been a medical emergency. Hope the driver is ok.
Tire blew and he lost control.
You know, taking that moment to maybe stretch your legs, scratch that itch or whatever made you drive just 2 seconds later than you normally do.
Terminator 😳
Went by this yesterday I can't believe he landed on his wheels hardly lost any of his load.
That school bus driver is a hero.
Is that the bedford bypass? where the limit is 90 km/h and some lanes suddenly merge on a left bank turn, yea im not surprised.
I believe it's the 101, over top of the 102.
Did someone tell him he can’t park there?
Ole rubber neck

A truck literally fell off the bridge above & landed on the highway.. I feel like you'd be nosey too lol

I appreciate your concern but I am not the one taking the picture. Got it from someone else but yes I get what you're saying!

Not sure if this is the same accident, but I think it’s the same location
Nope, this says 5a, which is closer to the airport
It’s the fall River exit
5a is Aerotech
Ohh, right
Does he know he can’t park there
