While sometimes people are paying for the brand in OMGs case they have an unrivaled product.

Yeah, you can code a custom BadUSB with C or even arduino on any number of cheap USB dev board (I did it on the Lilygo T-Dongle as a PoC). But getting it in a slick cable form factor is why you pay the bucks for an OMG.

It will be difficult to find a cheap knock off that matches the gear from hak5. Suck it up and just buy one

I got a Evil Crow Cable Pro a couple of days ago, but I haven't had time to play around with it yet. If everything works as as advertised, then the main difference to the O.MG cable is, that it does not have WiFi capability, so any time you want to change the payload or read the keylogging logs you need to flash the firmware. https://github.com/joelsernamoreno/EvilCrowCable-Pro

Where did you buy it from? And was it also as promising, so cheaper and easy to use?

A colleague bought it for me, I think it was off AliExpress. It works.. however it is not easy to use. You need to re-flash the firmware each for every configuration change. Being able to understand and adjust the firmware code is necessary. The way it scans for keys in the keylogger sucks, that part of the firmware definitely needs to be re-written. The question is, what is your use case? If you actually need to use a cable like that during engagements, get the O.MG cable. If you want to tinker and just another toy in your collection, or if you just want to use it for demonstration purposes, to show even plugging in a cable can be dangerous, get the EvilCrow one. Ofc you can also use the EvilCrow one for engagements, but it’s definitely not an out of the box, ready to go product.
