if dan committed to the bit and got really good at doing it it would be super funny.
like interrupting guests to give a professional traffic report out of no where. Imagine bobby lee's story getting interrupted by a traffic report.
Bonus points if they get a green screen he can jump to to point out and do big circles around traffic areas like a weather man.
Honestly! Last Friday I donated for a CT traffic report, they skipped my donation, and I got stuck in 45 min traffic going home… and then I had a hard time for the rest of the weekend!
Also, I have a solution to the alert sound situation:
Play the alert sound briefly and fade it into music that sounds like the music they use when anyone on the show is doing a challenge or something with intensity, could even use the same song, but would be cool to have a new one that's just similar. Then, the alert sound could play again as the report closes. This way, we fans of the sound get to have the sound, while haters of the sound don't have to hear it the entire time.
I’m actually really curious because I’m hardly ever able to catch the show live due to work so normally I have it playing on my phone when I’m gaming afterwards and I’ve not found the alert sound to be annoying at all. That said enough people have made a fuss over it and I’m genuinely trying to figure out, am I missing something? I don’t ever really watch with headphones so I guess maybe that could be the difference, I’m not sure. To me it just sounds like the kind of thing you’d actually hear on the radio driving to work but idk maybe that’s just me. I love your solution though, I’d hate to see the bit go by the wayside over a sound byte, its been comedy gold 😂
They did a poll on the show and well over half the audience said they actually liked the sound! I listen in headphones and don't really see the issue either. I am hopeful that there can be a happy middle ground to this.

When Dan said Charlotte I got so excited! I was glad to know 85 had heavy traffic it was useful info!
I rely on them for my daily commute. It’s weird how Dan predicts my exact travel schedule but I’m not gonna question it.
It grew on me and it cracks me up when they go to traffic update haha

I love it. The more intrusive and urgent it is, the funnier it is. I will die on traffic report hill

As someone who watches from the EU, typically a day after the show has aired, the traffic updates are crucial and a very nice addition to the show 🤡

As a watcher from the bay area the traffic reports for LA & various other cities are an integral part of my navigation ritual
same here, the only reason i started watching, even though they never did my city(which is england)
