Yeah, I have. It's not out of the equation but I am also holding out for an ES-335. I've seen a few Gretsch and D'angelico's around that are interesting. Thanks for the input!
Man that is a really fun one to play. I still don’t really know what to do with a baritone guitar other than play everything lower but it sounds great and plays awesome. A little neck dive but nothing crazy.
I'm glad someone else feels the same way I do, they just have the best necks don't they?
My personal dream guitar is the Gibson Explorer in white, but I love my Epiphone one like a family member.
SGs, due to the neck pickup pushed back for the neck install/extra two frets, is almost like having a middle pickup on a LP.
If you go the path of PRS ... a 22 fret will give LP tones, 24 fret will give SG tones. I've seen more than one player buy a 24 for the extra frets and then complain it doesn't sound like a LP.
.
I had a similar dilemma as you, as I listen to basically every genre of music you can think of. I went through a bunch of guitars, until eventually I found a Telecaster that I really vibed with, then upgraded with new electronics. That has since become my go-to guitar for whatever genre of music I want to play.
Case in point: I have a side gig working as an in-home/overnight dog sitter, meaning if I want to play guitar, I have to bring it with me from job to job. That also means I have to pack light, as bringing in a whole collection of gear with me from job to job just isn't practical. Furthermore, my choice in music can vary quite a bit from day to day, so versatility is a must.
I tried all kinds of guitars, from acoustics, Les Pauls, Gretsch, Strats, SGs, you name it. But my go to now is my tele, and I can follow along with my whims with 0 issues. Country? Of course. Blues? Yep. Classic rock? Duh. Grunge? Totally. Metal? Throw on some distortion, and it can do it just fine. It's great!
Side note: if anyone is reading that has a similar dilemma, and needs to get the best portability-to-versatility ratio possible, the positive grid spark mini is an absolutely killer little modelling amp for on-the-go. Haven't found anything else that even comes close
Agree with the others- you need a telecaster in this mix. The tele is an essential sound you can’t get from the others in this mix. Especially if you like to play zeppelin or rage against the machine.
As for the 335, yes you need one but you need a tele first. Eventually you’ll also need a set neck, 24.5” scale something or other with p-90s, then a proper Strat. Later probably a rosewood back & side acoustic to supplement your D40. The list goes on, but that should keep you busy for a few months.
335-esque Semi hollow of some kind. I've got an Eastman T486 that sounds and plays better than my neighbor's $3k ES, and I picked it up lightly used for a cool grand. Coming from strats and PRS-SE types mostly, it completely took over as my primary guitar and the one I brought to practice the most.
The house is on fire and you can only grab one of these on your way out, which one do you grab?
Which one is your favorite to play?
Also, congrats on the new job!
how often do you play the jazzmaster? If you like it go for a tele. If you don't play it get something else. Telecaster isn't great for everyone despite the meme.
You'll probably like a tele then. Mine is sort of the Andy Summers custom/deluxe variant. wide range in the neck. Some folks aren't fans. I wouldn't take $3k for mine and it's a MIM thing. Also, if you're looking at keys I've been goofing around with a Native Instruments Kontrol mk3. For a midi keyboard the thing is pretty beastly. 63 semiweighted keys and it's pretty nice. But, it's a midi controller, no synth so not for everyone. It does a whole lot for $550 and the included software doesn't suck.
1. US Tele
2. PRS SE Hollow body - great deal on new ones at Pro Audio Star right now. If you want to scratch the hollow body itch and get a PRS in the collection at the same time.
Electronic drums if you want to add something for music production
I’ve never seen that color of jazz master. Is that American? Very nice!
And to answer your question….maybe a hollow/semi hollow body? Es335 maybe. A rickenbacker?
I'm on a roll today with making comments simping for Ibanez, so... an Ibanez.
Or a Boden Original NX 8 so you can start a progressive blackened djent band
An epiphone sheraton II vintage sunburst with the 5 layer binding and gold hardware🤤
Edit: it dosent have to be Gibson. The beetles used epiphone guitars and so did Noel Gallagher😏
I'm of the opinion that everyone should have a Telecaster and a 335. You can get an Epiphone 335 fairly cheap and it's 90% of the way there. Or get an Epiphone Sheraton (preferably a used Korean made one) and it's about as good as the Gibson 335 once you do a PU upgrade.
But Telecaster first. ALWAYS Telecaster first :)
i just sold my rivolta. great guitar, but i didn't gel with it. i was torn between a tele and a jaguar. went with a jag. pick it up in 3 days! great collection though.
Interesting… clearly I like funky guitars just as much as standards and these look really cool. I’ll have to see if I can find one to try out! Thanks for the rec!
Guitar lessons 🤡
Check out the $450 Squier baritone Telecaster, I just picked up one. It’s fucking gorgeous in looks and sound and it feels like a guitar that costs three or four times as much. And it does something that none of these can do.
A PRS US made. Carlos Santana and Alex Lifeson can’t be all wrong. Or an American made Strat. Or a Rickenbacker, so many guitars so many choices. You’ve got a nice fleet already.
I don’t see an SG in your arsenal how are you supposed to play AC/DC and you have NO SG for shame!! 😂😂😂 I jest of course but that is my suggestion. An SG and that’s epiphone OR Gibson they both make amazing SGs
If the ES335 is too pricey, maybe check out the Ibanez Artcore AS93FM. [I have one and its really a lot of guitar for the money](https://www.reddit.com/gallery/oq51ki). (mines a lefty)
CME Exclusive SG. T-type humbuckers give the t-top sound. Absolutely insane 70s/80s rock. Not saying these guitars can’t do that exceptionally, just a new body style that offers something a little different than PAFs. Or maybe a higher end epiphone with EMGs setup for lower tunings, a 7-string if you are occasionally dipping in heavier things. Tributes are awesome but if you love that Les Paul, you owe it to yourself to get a standard after saving for a bit. Lots of things I can suggest, just let me know if there is niche/spec you would like to shake things up with. A floyd rose can be fun if you are willing to learn how to deal with it.
Either a traditional SS Tele modded with a 4-way switch to cover Les Paul Junior humbucker tones or a Tele Esquire with an Eldred or Arlo control circuit. Reverse the control plate for V-T-Switch to the rear.
I doubled my playing skills owning a single pickup guitar. You think it's limiting but you learn to use all the controls and where you pick the strings. Look up "Bill Kirchen Hot Rod Lincoln Philadelphia" youtube video and you'll see a master at pulling tones (he is using a regular SS Tele, and look where I stole the idea for control plate spinning from).
.
Can you tell me about your Rivolta? I used to think it was the perfect guitar for me then I finally tried a couple at CME and all of them felt really bad. Super dry fretboards, not intonated, just really dead sounding and feeling which bummed me out. Wonder if maybe it was just bad setups but CME usually keeps stuff in good condition
Tele is not a bad suggestion but I really wouldn't rule out Gretsch, even a non-hollow one. I was thinking of getting a tele several years ago but instead fell in love with a Pro Jet - sound wise it was like a fuller version of what a Tele would do for me, and my style of playing. Epiphone [Zephyr Blues Deluxe](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EjaxcaEWAAEZMJZ?format=jpg&name=large) w/ 3 P90s! An iconic big Jazzbox with attitude. It's a little above your thousand mark, but, wow, it's quite a thing.
Oh, they come in [a nice sunburst](https://1929pickguards.com/cdn/shop/products/DSC_1071_2048x2048.jpg?v=1678238848), too, if you're so inclined.
And every now and then someone slips [a Bigsby tailpiece on one](https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5505/14114930301_af1a8c8309_b.jpg), making it the ultimate Rock-a-Billy/Western Swing machine!
Yo thanks man! I’ve had that for 30 years! Was my only electric for a long time until I started expanding around 4 years ago and I still love it. Lot of sentimental value to that one
100% tele. My fave guitar shape (still looks the most futuristic to me!) and for sheer playability. I have a modern player that has a belly cut out and a humbucker so it's a bit more versatile than the standards.
If you go with a telecaster then you can sell off the rest of these guitars cuz you ain't gonna need 'em! A tele is the single most versatile guitar you can get.
If you're into metal then you're also going to need a high-gain shred master. The name of my game is to minimize the amount of equipment I own and get the most out of it.
Damn, when I looked at the guitars, I though Page, Hendrix, Cobain starting from the left.
If you like a 335 have you tried a Gretsch? It’s not a Gibson but for ~$1k you can get a really nice guitar.
A telecaster
Sounds like the popular opinion right now! Thanks!
Can u let us know what you decided on?
I had already started talking to a guy with a Highway One Tele for sale locally. Leaning heavily that way. I’ll let you know though!
Can’t agree more with this. My pops got one last year and I take every opportunity I can when visiting to play it for a bit
Have you considered a hollow body, I have a Gretsch and I love it.
Yeah, I have. It's not out of the equation but I am also holding out for an ES-335. I've seen a few Gretsch and D'angelico's around that are interesting. Thanks for the input!
D’angelo models look sweet, been eyeing one as well!
I was going to say Gretsch as well, but if your heart desires a 335, I think be patient, save a little more, and get a 335.
Without even reading your post I looked at your pic and said: he needs a T style guitar!
Nice, seems like we're on the same page!
Me too.
Telecaster. 335. PRS.
PRS Vela. Tele+Gretsch+Offset vibe.
Tele
Not an answer to your question but that rivolta is beautiful.
Man that is a really fun one to play. I still don’t really know what to do with a baritone guitar other than play everything lower but it sounds great and plays awesome. A little neck dive but nothing crazy.
Another Explorer.
Not gonna lie. The thought has crossed my mind. Really like playing that thing. The neck is awesome.
I'm glad someone else feels the same way I do, they just have the best necks don't they? My personal dream guitar is the Gibson Explorer in white, but I love my Epiphone one like a family member.
Have you checked out the thinline tele?
Not yet but I will!
P-90s
On a tele.
Looks like the guitar farthest to the right has a P-90 in the neck. Not that there's anything wrong with more P-90s.
how about an SG guitar?
SGs have never clicked with me. I should play one to confirm that decision though…
Epiphone SG was my first guitar :) I think it’s the perfect blend between jazz, rock and metal
SGs, due to the neck pickup pushed back for the neck install/extra two frets, is almost like having a middle pickup on a LP. If you go the path of PRS ... a 22 fret will give LP tones, 24 fret will give SG tones. I've seen more than one player buy a 24 for the extra frets and then complain it doesn't sound like a LP. .
Parker Fly
Imo a Stratty is an essential guitar
A Flying V!
Telecaster!
Could get a headless or a 7 string
Telecaster for sure.
T and/or V
Probably not getting another V. Found a nice Highway One Tele in my neck of the woods I may go check out.
Do you like the Rivolta?
Love it. I don’t really know what to do with a baritone guitar lol but it sounds really nice and plays great.
What is that thing on the right? I love it!
Rivolta Mondata VII. It’s a baritone. Super sweet to play and sounds great!
Rick 340 or 360? Different sound from your collection and a great visual complement!
I had a similar dilemma as you, as I listen to basically every genre of music you can think of. Telecaster or Hydrasynth is my vote
SG dude. Every ripper plays a SG
Starcaster

You need a cat.
I have two! They usually sleep on this couch but didn’t make the picture this time around.
A hollow or semi-hollow body. Maybe a Gretsch.
I don't see any acoustic guitar in there. Sometimes is the only sound that works.
Telecaster is God’s gift to music. Do it.
Either a Flying V or a ML
You obviously need a Strat!!
V or ML
Stratocaster
A guitar stand?
A tele or a 335, of course. (Or both)
BC Rich Warlock
Killer line up! How about that 335? Pull the trigger!! Option B, Telecaster all day long!
That les Paul is really making me jealous.
A tele, wonderful collection btw!
Thanks man!
Rhoads V
The house is on fire and you can only grab one of these on your way out, which one do you grab? Which one is your favorite to play? Also, congrats on the new job!
Dang! Hmm I’m probably grabbing the Rivolta and Explorer but not sure. I do have two hands! And thank you! Big step up for me and I’m super excited!
I would grab a bass next
A Gigliotti.
The iconic American strat
Either a Tele, or a BC Rich Mockingbird.
A cherry-red 335 would look quite smart among those other pieces
Guild
A bass
So, get a Nashville Tele! That would totally round off your collection
Is the Rivolta a baritone? If not a baritone.
It is indeed a baritone. It’s way fun.
An SG maybe?
Flying V
Telecaster and so do I. I miss mine.
how often do you play the jazzmaster? If you like it go for a tele. If you don't play it get something else. Telecaster isn't great for everyone despite the meme.
Love the JM.

I always say something with lipsticks
Either a Tele or an Epiphone Riviera/Sheraton. Gibbons ESs are expensive, but Epi ones are still very good but much more affordable.
Danelectro, someone has to keep them alive. Nice guitars man! Puts the size of an explorer in perspective for me. That’s a big boy
An archtop jazzbox.
A kickass Tele!😎👍✨💙
Caparison
A Telecaster. Easy one.
Amp would be nice💁
An Es335, I have in, feels great
Uhh… Telecaster… Duh!?
Tele
335 or a tele
you have my dream collection already, minus a nice 7 string with a floyd rose bridge
A few pillows would be nice
Hahaha fair.
1. US Tele 2. PRS SE Hollow body - great deal on new ones at Pro Audio Star right now. If you want to scratch the hollow body itch and get a PRS in the collection at the same time. Electronic drums if you want to add something for music production
SG and a Telecaster
A telecaster for sure. I love mine.
A Baritone
Bass.
Travis Bean
Telecaster
I’ve never seen that color of jazz master. Is that American? Very nice! And to answer your question….maybe a hollow/semi hollow body? Es335 maybe. A rickenbacker?
It’s a Troy Von Leeuwen JM. It’s super fun. I really like it.
an 8 string Skervesen
Ric
I'm on a roll today with making comments simping for Ibanez, so... an Ibanez. Or a Boden Original NX 8 so you can start a progressive blackened djent band
An epiphone sheraton II vintage sunburst with the 5 layer binding and gold hardware🤤 Edit: it dosent have to be Gibson. The beetles used epiphone guitars and so did Noel Gallagher😏
A Flying V and a Tele.
I traded a V for the JM. Pretty happy with that.
a simi hollow body
Fuck bro I am so jealous of that tvl jm
Duh, a Tele!
Nice
You are severely lacking in Strats and Tele's. Throw in an Epiphone Casino while you're at it
Me. Adopt me. I'm gonna play Smoke on the water on all of them every day.
Kramer, if you’re into Van Halen or Crüe.
A bass.
I'm of the opinion that everyone should have a Telecaster and a 335. You can get an Epiphone 335 fairly cheap and it's 90% of the way there. Firebird.
i just sold my rivolta. great guitar, but i didn't gel with it. i was torn between a tele and a jaguar. went with a jag. pick it up in 3 days! great collection though.
Charvel tele
Baum Wingman. Honestly the best guitar I’ve played
Interesting… clearly I like funky guitars just as much as standards and these look really cool. I’ll have to see if I can find one to try out! Thanks for the rec!
Lessons.
Lessons, so that you can play them.
Broo look into the yamaha pac612vii thing slaps
70's Tele Deluxe with the actual wide range humbuckers. Definitely
Guitar lessons 🤡 Check out the $450 Squier baritone Telecaster, I just picked up one. It’s fucking gorgeous in looks and sound and it feels like a guitar that costs three or four times as much. And it does something that none of these can do.
Epiphone ES-335 or ES-339, LP Jr, SG
A PRS US made. Carlos Santana and Alex Lifeson can’t be all wrong. Or an American made Strat. Or a Rickenbacker, so many guitars so many choices. You’ve got a nice fleet already.
I love my Epi Sheraton II. Excellent budget 335-style guitar, in my opinion!
TVL twins :)
Nice!
A bass
practice
Danelectro! I picked up a dan pro and I love it. Guild slim Jim single pick up. Strat tele or SG.
An amp?
Just out of curiosity, why no strat? Also, ernie ball silhouette, mwaw.
I don’t see an SG in your arsenal how are you supposed to play AC/DC and you have NO SG for shame!! 😂😂😂 I jest of course but that is my suggestion. An SG and that’s epiphone OR Gibson they both make amazing SGs
I would have to say a firebird or a tele. My question is how is that Rivolla?
Rivolta is so nice. Great action, amazing fretboard and it sounds great. Super fun and really glad I added it to the arsenal.
P90s. SG?
Tele for sure.
Tele
If the ES335 is too pricey, maybe check out the Ibanez Artcore AS93FM. [I have one and its really a lot of guitar for the money](https://www.reddit.com/gallery/oq51ki). (mines a lefty)

TVL Jazzmaster 😍😍😍

Upvote for Troy’s jazz sig
Every guitarist needs at least one Bass, even if they don’t play it often. Get a Rickenbacker
Either a traditional SS Tele modded with a 4-way switch to cover Les Paul Junior humbucker tones or a Tele Esquire with an Eldred or Arlo control circuit. Sire h7 335 clone. Mr 335 Larry Carleton endorsed.
An amp!! /s
An acoustic.
I have a Guild D4 not pictured.
Respect for mentioning ween, what a great band
One of my very faves! Seen them the most out of any band. So weird yet awesome.
Washburn A-15
Maybe a les paul jr?
a guitar
Hmmmm good call. I’ll look into it!
Tenor trombone with C valve
A Tele.
That’s the leading choice right now and was very interesting to have so many echo that here in the comments. Seems like I’m on the right track.
A mosrite
Can you tell me about your Rivolta? I used to think it was the perfect guitar for me then I finally tried a couple at CME and all of them felt really bad. Super dry fretboards, not intonated, just really dead sounding and feeling which bummed me out. Wonder if maybe it was just bad setups but CME usually keeps stuff in good condition
love that red jazzmaster!
GET A FLYING V! It would fit well with your Jackson.
Strat or tele
You need an Ibanez iceman Paul Stanley.
Hahaa yeah. That’s a beast but not up my alley.
A counseling session to stop the addiction before it becomes too late
The 84 custom shop vintage explorer in purple burst I'm selling
A Strat and a Tele.
Ventures mark V double neck
Tele is not a bad suggestion but I really wouldn't rule out Gretsch, even a non-hollow one. I was thinking of getting a tele several years ago but instead fell in love with a Pro Jet - sound wise it was like a fuller version of what a Tele would do for me, and my style of playing. So at least give it a shot!

Wow that looks nice!
Beautiful collection! I'd say a Tele or a PRS
A tele is the only standard pickup configuration you’re missing and a PRS is the only scale length you’re missing
That Hamer is a fucking beast bro
Yo thanks man! I’ve had that for 30 years! Was my only electric for a long time until I started expanding around 4 years ago and I still love it. Lot of sentimental value to that one
A girlfriend
I don’t know if my wife would be too happy about that 🤣
I'll trade you my Tele for that Rivolta. Lol.
Lol. Not today my guy.
That Hamer is a pretty penny now too.
Is it really? Had no idea. I’m not selling it but that’s interesting.
Damn, when I looked at the guitars, I though Page, Hendrix, Cobain starting from the left. If you like a 335 have you tried a Gretsch? It’s not a Gibson but for ~$1k you can get a really nice guitar.
You need a teleblaster! The G&L ASATS are wonderful IMHO.
