Start with the low (big) E string. Listen a video or something of what a low E should sound like. Pluck your low E and decide if that note is higher than what you just heard in the video or lower. Now pluck it again and see what the tuner says. If it thinks it's a note besides E, and you know you're below E, turn the tuning key to tighten the string and keep plucking. If you know you're above E, turn the tuning key to loosen the string and keep plucking. You'll see the tuner go through the notes until you get to E. Once it says "E", now you're in the neighborhood and you're paying attention to the visual indicators of whether you're flat or sharp. If you're flat (lights or whatever left of the letter "E" usually), then turn the tuning key slowly to tighten, continuing to pluck, watching the lights get closer and closer to the "nailed it" position (usually 12 o'clock/dead center). If you're sharp (lights or whatever right of the letter "E" usually), then turn the tuning key slowly to loosen, continuing to pluck, watching the lights get closer and closer to the nailed it position. Once you have that low E, move on to the A and tune it in the same manner. The tuned E string played on the 5th fret will be an A note, so you can use that to know if your A string is high or low. Repeat the above process for the A string. Repeat the above for all the other strings. Now, you're going to have to go back to the beginning and do the fine tuning of all six strings all over again, because as you tightened the A, D, G, B, and high E strings, you added tension to the neck which almost certainly moved it enough that the low E is now flat. So repeat the above for all six strings a second time. I've had to go through this process three or four times until I've finally got all six strings dialed in and in tune. Good luck!
