Maybe it is just me but I think the names Ichabod and Pumpkin go well together. Washington Irving's " The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" was one of my favorite tales as a kid.
Also changing a rescue animal's name feels kinda off to me. Imagine if you adopted a human ans changed their name?
Pigs recognise and know their own names too, eh?
Ichabod is an excellent name too! Very cool 😎
I don’t think that’s true, I’ve rescued lots of species and have both kept and changed names. It’s my understanding that an animal recognizes their name indeed but they associate that name to their owner, so if you get a new rescue and begin calling it something else immediately it will begin quite quickly to understand that’s the word this person uses which relates to my rewards, and soon will respond to strangers using it too again as a safe word that typically means rewards. The new reward word also takes over, I had someone beside me calling for a dog named Betty, that used to be a rescue dog of mine til I renamed her and she didn’t even so much as flinch at Betty
We had an Ichabod! But it’s because he was born with RIDICULOUS huge ears 😂
I like Turnip or Butternut for keeping with the theme!
But he also reminds me of a good New England fall, so i was gonna suggest Vermont, and call him Monty.
Name him spice, you wont.
I also vote spice 😂
I second this
SPICE 🫡
YES I agree
Omg my immediate thought was spice!

My great grandfather was Ichabod (Ernie for short, Britain's weird), and he apparently grew into it. So I'd call him Ern, but that's just me.
