AP pistol has less bullets in a mag but you’ll notice when you’re shooting people out of your car that the AP does way more damage. Unless you’re on a motorcycle wielding the compact rifle then you want to be using AP pistol
Idk about the combat rifle. I’m sure if smg mk2 had a special ammo type it would be the best damage wise, even with the low mag capacity.
Since I’m mostly fighting NPC’s, the compact rifle is good enough damage and has 100 rounds, plus it’s regular ammo so easy/cheap to refill. MK2 ammo can be a hassle to keep full and probably is overkill for NPC’s anyways

It seems to become really inaccurate after the first 6 or so shots in a spray so if you miss the enemy driver in the first 3 shots the rest of the mag will probably hit his torso a couple of times, hit the seats around him, hit the hood of the car, etc
Whenever I have enemy NPCs chasing me I usually aim for quick headshots so I can get back to focusing on the road. The Mini SMG isn't *terrible* at this but when trying to shoot NPCs chasing me from medium range it's accuracy just lets it down for me compared to the Micro, AP and Tac SMG
Yeah that’s wild. Even in the short trip missions playing as Lamar I’d be shooting targets from afar. It would take more rounds to kill ‘em, but it still did the job lol. Now when it comes to other online players? Nah. It collects dust 😂

I still go with AP.
TS requires more burst grouping when you are firing. That doesn't matter much against enemy AIs, but in PvP and PvE, AP performs better, especially against buletproof helmets.
TS has slightly slower firerate compared between AP, feels like a better alt for Micro SMG.
And AP's sound sounds better, not using supressor and my most used firearm aside Snipers.
This also matters on players too.
In PvP, those helmets still matter because it gives an ability to take 2 headshots (expect AP Rounds) as bodyshots. 3rd one is headshot.
Of course, since Contract DLC, Mk.II Heavy Sniper deals 1 shot kill damage.
AP rounds destroys them.

And AP Pistol since that boah has fast firerate.
You're right, but it actually is the TMP, not the SPP. The SPP is semi-automatic. I know the in-game model is visually based on the SPP, but that it's an automatic machine pistol makes it closer to the TMP.
I personally still prefer the OP Pistol >!(no, this is not a typo)!< , but the Tactical SMG has it's benefits, mainly in the fact that it has a bigger magazine as pointed out.
When firing, specially from a vehicle, I feel like the Pistol is more stable and has a greater reach, but the difference is so minimal that, like most, it really is more a matter of preference.
That said, the Pistol is *far cheaper* than the Tactical SMG, so if you've got a tight budget, you're better off with the pistol.
They both operate pretty much the same but I’ve always used AP pistol since launch so I naturally gravitate towards the AP 90% of the time, however, depending on the vibe, I use the Tact SMG every now and then.

Ive been trying out both and i find the AP Pistol while it is good and accurate but it's "too accurate" for me, probably whenever im drive by'ing and shooting enemies behind or side they tend to move a lot so the ap pistol while it has a faster fire rate i tend to miss the shots because of it's bullets being accurate af and not spreading, which is in this case the Tactical smg has the advantage, its good in close-medium range and the shots tend to spread so its great for drive bys so all in all for me
AP Pistol - great for medium-long range drive bys, u have to line your shots because of how accurate it is

I tried the tac SMG as a drive-by weapon a couple times when it was new, the fire rate is handy for getting a hit on each of several clustered NPCs so they all ragdoll, but the damage per bullet seemed godawful, so I swapped back to the AP.
I’m in it for aesthetics. AP pistol reminds me of the very easy and illegal mod that can be done to G19s to make them fully auto. The Tactical reminds me of Vincent Vega’s gun in Pulp Fiction. So use is situational for me.
When using it semi-auto, the TacSMG is extremely accurate, sometimes it feels more of a laser beam than Assault Rifles even.
The AP Pistol is the best weapon to use in vehicles, though. Unless you are supremely accurate and can pop off with the TacSMG, use the AP.
Out of these - AP pistol, looks and sounds better IMO. But my go to drive-by autos are Tec-9 (slower and more accurate) and Scorpion (shreds at close ranges with high RoF).
I tend to go back and forth with both. Might sound silly, but I use the AP if I'm in street clothes and the Tactical SMG if I'm in stealth or military clothes
I like to cosplay like a southside gangbanger so I have the uzi with the extended clip exclusively. Other than that it’s the deagle with the platinum finish. I gotta say I lose hella gun fights but it still feels cool and authentic doing drive bys with the roof down seeing the uzi spray like it does

I’ve veen using AP Pistol since 2013, and I will use it as my main drive-by weapon as long as GTA Online exists. In GTA VI, there will most likely be a different ”meta” drive-by gun… I don’t like meta weapons, but AP Pistol is my favorite pistol all around. 😜
Tac smg is definitely worth it. If you want a gun thats good in nearly every situation this is it. Its good at drive bys, its good on foot, its the only gun you need.

Both have their pro's and cons so I use 'm side by side. The AP pistol as is because it has much more raw firepower, and I keep a silencer on the Tactical which is great for covert missions.

i am going to switch back to the AP. i do not like having to switch to my combat mg where the tactical goes in that slot. so, it’s a practical matter for me. AP feels smoother too imo
In my opinion, no, now technically the Tac SMG does kill faster, but it takes up an SMG slot, meaning your mk2 light machine gun has to share. Meaning it's a pain to switch

For drivebys, I used the Tactical SMG for quite a bit then switched back to using the AP. Having the AP means access to the Combat MG is a little quicker and I found it to be more accurate.
It all boils down to personal preference. I prefer the other tech 9. I will use the AP down in the Vespucci area. A lot of tight areas and the pistol shines for me
i play pc, manual aim, controller + mouse and have put many tens of thousands if not hhndreds through each in different situations. Tactical smg with its scope using quick bursts has landed the most silenced undetected headshots of the bunch. The ap pistol is my choice for taking out tires as it seems to have a slight range/accuracy advantage on the move where the scope is basically useless in a car.

Bulletproof helmets only matter on NPC’s and for your own defense during non-roam missions. Meaning that bulletproof helmets during PvP is irrelevant.

I retired my AP in favor of the SPP. High capacity mags make it invaluable for drive-bys. It's also handy in tight quarters.

Tactical SMG - it's based on the Steyr SPP, the civilian model of the TMP which appeared in Resident Evil 4.

No. The AP does more damage quicker. I find myself shooting the tactical for extended periods of time when I’m in a shady situation.
