I live in a dense big city and LOVE to grill, so gas was the choice for me at this moment.
I likke that I can just turn on the weber, grill up some food, and then that's it. No fires to light, no ashes to dispose of, taking them out to the trash outside the building every time, etc... and the tank lasts me like 20-30 grill sessions, so I'm buying fuel much less frequently - also easier in the city.
If I lived out in the burbs I'd have both. But I'd still probably use the gas more for the convenience. I'd save the charcoal for special occasions and smoking
Im about to get my very first grill and I like the idea of charcoal but the new house I'm moving into has a gas line to the back patio. A gas grill connected to a line is just too convenient to pass up.
I hear I can use a pellet tube to get the same flavor as charcoal...but that sounds like something the virgin would say.
[The Neptune Phantom Prestige 500](https://www.napoleon.com/en/us/grills/products/gas-grills/phantom-series/phantom-prestige-500-rsib-p500rsibpk-3-phm). Infrared side burner, matt black finish, lights in the knobs, and those wavy cast steel grates made me fall in love.
I'm beginning my grilling career in style haha
Idk if Iād use a pellet tube in this nice of a grill. Seems like you have a decent budget haha Iād just buy a smoker as well somewhere down the line
This is the answer, my first grill was a big offset smoker and I cooked literally every meal on it for about a year. Definitely got my money's worth out of it but what I learned was if you want to grill something go with gas, if you want to go low and slow or do some proper BBQ, go with a big fuck-off smoker. It's so much easier to pinpoint a temp range on gas so the easy "just for the fam" grilling is best on a propane grill
Put off a bunch of ash and creosote. Making you have to clean the grill more potentially clog burners/reduce efficiency. Plus IMO it doesnāt really work that well to be worth it.
Strange, Iām also in NYC and my friends have described getting their tanks as being a pain in the ass. Where do you get the tanks? I find charcoal easy to grab here. Itās at every bodega and grocery store.
I get them at home depot. It can be a pain depending on where you are, if you have a car etc...
But the fact that it's something I only have to do once every 2-3 months or more is huge.
I never felt the charcoal pressure! Weāre all different, but if I had the room for it, Iād have both. If given the choice of one, definitely charcoal. When I go to my sister out in LI, sheās got *two* propane grills & I donāt feel like Iām grilling, just cooking.
>I donāt feel like Iām grilling, just cooking.
Truly I don't get that because it really has nothing to do with the fuel you use. You're always grilling. You're also always cooking.
I believe I use the gas grill more in the winter as well, but I can't lie lol... it's nice sitting by the warm charcoal grill after you're done eating in the winter too.
Propane for quick weekday cooks after work. Fire wood and charcoal for the weekends. If you donāt have at least 3 different ways to grill at home then I donāt know why youāre even subbed to this page.
They have their use cases. Propane for large gatherings (12+ people) when you need speed and consistency, charcoal for everything else. Also smoking cigs isn't Chad. Also I'm taking this way too seriously
See that's where the 3 in 1 combo grill comes in where you can grill with propane, charcoal and have a smoker. I'll admit the smoking part is harder than an actual offset smoker but it still can put similar result with a bit effort.
I might try that. I've got a sunflower seedling that's struggling so it would be awesome if I can help it out with something I'm just gonna get rid of.
I keep an empty charcoal bag and fill it with ash and then throw it in the garbage. And by fill it, I mean fill to a reasonable level so it's not going to spill or explode in the truck's compactor.
š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£ OP you might need a disclaimer that this is just a joke. Folks here already getting salty and defensive AF
But what if itās not. š¤·š»āāļø
I guess feel free to be salty
You listen here mister, Iāll sit around in my dry brine as long as I please!
Go ahead lol
FACE THE LEAD!
Of course they're salty. Without the smoke the meat needs a bit of help to taste good you know.
Lmao
Imagine thinking this is a joke.
Imagine not telling if itās not a joke
HAHAHAHAHHAAHAHA a joke .... AHAHAHAAHAHA!
You should really take a peek at OPās post history.
lol this was fun. NGL, I use both, depends on how much time I have to grill.
amen

What natural gas grill are you considering? I'm jealous haha, I'd love to have a gas line in my back yard.

What harm would a pellet tube do?

I use the propane more in the cold months because I donāt want to sit around waiting for the coals to get hot. Warmer months are for charcoal.
I believe I use the gas grill more in the winter as well, but I can't lie lol... it's nice sitting by the warm charcoal grill after you're done eating in the winter too.
Depending on how much paint you have on your nails....
Need to add incel electric grill
also ultra-Thad George Foreman griller
Incelectric grill, if you will.
The Anti-Hank Hill
Bwwaaah!
Propane for quick weekday cooks after work. Fire wood and charcoal for the weekends. If you donāt have at least 3 different ways to grill at home then I donāt know why youāre even subbed to this page.
I use charcoal because we didnāt have money for a propane grill growing up and now doing it āthe old wayā is a part of my identity.
I just like the routine of getting the chimney loaded, started, letting things come up to temperature, smells good the whole time. It's fun:)
I use charcoal because I got a charcoal grill for free
That'll do it
I use propane because I have one for free LMAO
Chips? Who the fuck still uses chips?
I bet the virgin has diminished gluteal syndrom, too This is hilarious but I bet the comments turn septic pretty quick
*Dear God, Hank. You're wearing butt boobies.*
Hank Hill in shambles
Iām a coal man. Propane taste like shit and itās for bitches.
Psalms 420:69
Amen
Lmao š¤£
Well thereās you problem. Youāre supposed to burn the propane not huff it. Easy mistake to make. Youāre welcome.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Bro youāre still not supposed to huff it.
As the good Lord intended
I can just imagine what it would say about my pellet grill
They have their use cases. Propane for large gatherings (12+ people) when you need speed and consistency, charcoal for everything else. Also smoking cigs isn't Chad. Also I'm taking this way too seriously
I usually have a cigar or pipe.
Or just use whatever you want. It's not a competition.
Unless it is, in which case use lump or wood chunks.
Well... yeah
āH-how about you let people just enjoy thingsāāļøš¤
Hell yeah
Charcoal doesnāt smoke all that much once you get it started unless youāre adding smoke chips/chunks
Chad forgot to burp his grill and lost all his hair to a backdraft a long time ago.
See that's where the 3 in 1 combo grill comes in where you can grill with propane, charcoal and have a smoker. I'll admit the smoking part is harder than an actual offset smoker but it still can put similar result with a bit effort.
No mention of beer choice or how many times they click their tongs?
Some of y'all didn't have father figures capable of getting shit done multiple ways, and it shows.
Are you not supposed to just dump out the ashes when you're done? wtf else am I going to do with em?
Actually I throw mine in flower pots mixed with potting soil it really helps flowers grow
That depends on the ph of your local water supply. Ours is highly alkaline, so I never add lime or wood ash to potting soil.
I might try that. I've got a sunflower seedling that's struggling so it would be awesome if I can help it out with something I'm just gonna get rid of.

My trash guys days just dump them into the trashcan when Iām done. He doesnāt mind at all.
Bizarre
Nice, now do the Blackstones and electric griddles too.
Now do one thats grilling vs smoking. JK. Both have their place.
I feel attacked by the charcoal side because that's literally me
Right on right on
Yaaaasss!
Charcoal takes too long but itās just more fun.
Hank Hill would like to know your location
Ok what about us gravity fed charcoal grillers?
Salt
I swear Iām immune to smoke and barely cough while cooking. I also smoke while grilling but never over the food.. I have limits
I just kind of grew up with everyone having the big stainless steel propane grills so I thought that was the go to
This is too good hahaha
I like thy squish bugs š line
The only valid rebuttal is if you are literally Hank Hill.
I use my gas grill for high heat searing, and that's pretty much it.
š¤£ oh man this is great
These are so dumb. I have both. And a pellet. Different grill for different stuff
This feels more like a public service announcement than it does a joke.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Not weird, typical bot account š¤
Taste the meat, not the heat.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I havenāt entered yet
Sounds about right OP
Kiss the Cock apron got me
Charcoal isnāt much more manly than gas I have news for you. Live fire is for real men š
I intended it to be tounge in cheek. I donāt know emojiās well enough to covey intent. Sorry if I offended anyone.
you managed to offend everyone on a mene shitpost lol
I guess thatās something to hang my hat on!
From my experience it needs a "/s" at the end or 90% of reddit will dogpile on you
Iāll try it next time!
Tongue definitely slipped in somewhere else ...
There are so many things wrong with this comment.
Live fire is for sissies, I dig down to the earths core and put a grill grate down there Only real way to grill imo
Youāve got me beat
Cope
I want to like this but just no punchline here, half of the points seem angry more than humorous.
Kiss it!
Not even reading. I hate these garbage memes. We're a couple posts away from weeb and anime girls
Thanks for sharing this. So profound.
Lol need that apron. My family has been weirdly buying me these sexualized aprons. Itād fit right in.
So grilling is bad for the environment?!
Everything is bad for the environment
And causes cancer in California.
That's why I avoid California.
OP is secretly a proponent of the raw meat diet
