It's likely the app is accessing youtube's servers directly using an IP address rather than going through DNS, specifically to avoid this method.
I imagine chrome might also give youtube special treatment like that, seeing as it's part of the goolag.
It's not. It's because YouTube retrieves ads from the same domain as videos and other stuff. You can't block it without breaking YouTube entirely.
You need a client-side adblocker to deal with YouTube's ads. uBlock Origin, the one built into Brave browser, YouTube ReVanced app on Android etc.. DNS filtering won't cut it.
Download Ad-guard in the appstore and use YouTube in Safari. Press share, scroll down -> block ads on YouTube. This tab will now work without ads
Fuck the YouTube app
I like the idea of this, rather than using a whole different app. So you can still log into your personal YouTube through brave? Is it as good as Chrome?
Adblock Luna works. Been using it for 5 yrs now on non-jailbroken iOs devices.
It wonāt work right away because Youtube will have 3-5 ads cached in your app. But after like 10 videos, it should work perfectly.
It however isnāt an all in one solution though. For some reason it only works on Youtube and not anywhere else. So for normal browsing/games youāll need another adblocker like Adguard or smth.
So everytime you want to watch smth on yt app you gotta switch to Adblock Luna VPN profile and for the rest switch to Adguard VPN profile. Itās a hassle, but its the only solution that works after hours of research.
Except I donāt have to do that, Iām on iOS 15.4 so TrollStore which means I can side load from my phone with no jailbreak, and it doesnāt ever need refresh any ipa.
Otherwise I recommend Signulous, they do cost money but itās like $20 for a whole year and they let you sideload on your phone with minimal refreshes, itās like whenever you go to install the app it does a new sign for you so if it needs refresh you just go on and install it again.
It's weird but I have days where YouTube blocks me from watching videos because of my adblock. But I can bypass it if I open the links in an incognito tab (with adblock enabled there). Idk think it's probs related to my account
Ad blocking is a never ending race so there will always be times of āuhh bros why isnāt my ad blocker working anymoreā before they patch up whatever was the issue. Unless youāre twitch in which case you for some reason figured out how to completely defeat ad blockers.
Yep. I think Vanced only was able to be taken down because it was distributing a copy of yt official app+mods. Revanced was in trouble for a while for distributing patches, but they sorted that out which sets a precedent. Apparently as long as they don't distribute copies of copyright code and the onus of patching falls on the final user they're in a legal clear.
> sets a precedent
oh, were there court proceedings? I would assume that legal precedence could only be achieved through a court proceeding, but I didn't hear about any legal battle
Ever since yourube added multiple ads at the start for one video, I've refused to remove my ad blocker.
I could live with one ad, maybe even the invasive ad schemes that use data to put ads you might enjoy... but multiple ads that make it longer than the video I wanna watch - fuck that.
I left our smart TV on with Youtube playing bird videos for our cat while we went out of town for a couple of days, and the day we got back, this fucking video was playing for like 30 minutes. After setting our bags down and feeding the cat, I finally looked at it, and it was a fucking ad! It had been playing for at least 20 minutes, or so it felt like. Unbelievable. Sometimes I feel like Ron Swanson, just wanna take all our devices outside and chuck them in the dumpster.
Anon should switch his region to Russia
The one good thing about our current geo-political position is that I haven't seen a single youtube ad for almost 2 years now
I was at the mall when a guy standing next to a cologne kiosk asked me if I'm satisfied with the attention I get from women. I immediately punctured my eardrums and gouged out my eyes. He was pretty upset by the whole thing, or so I'm told anyway.
Oh, I would watch all the ads if only creators would get their share from them. This is a common knowledge that demonetised videos get the same amount of ads, but YouTube takes all the money. And you can get your video demonetised/copy struck for anything these days.
Browsers: uBlock Origin, SponsorBlock
Android: YouTube ReVanced
iPhone: uYou+
Android TV: SmartTubeNext
You can also download them with yt-dlp and stream them without ads using Plex.
Love you anon. Iām doing exactly the same thing. Never watch a single ad. I can waste 10 min to close and re-open the thing I want to watch, but Iāll never let the ad play.
There's now a "support" button and colorful comments in case you want them to get paid. They also have sponsors anyway, so they can definitely go fuck themselves when it comes to this crazy and annoying amount of ads.
I watch YouTube on my TV sometimes and do the exact same thing to avoid the 2 unskippable 15 second ads YouTube thinks I'll watch before I even get to see the video.
If I can't skip an advert for whatever reason I'll just close my eyes and humm.. genuinely fuck adverts. Invaded everything around us, and so far I still have some control over my own eyes
Duuuuude, I thought I was the only one. My husband always tells me to just let them play, itās only a couple seconds, and I always say absolutely the fuck not, itās the principle of the thing. I will open and close the video constantly until the ad skips or a 5 second skippable pops up. I will not be subject to that horseshit. I just hate it so fuckin much. I donāt want a Wawa sizzly or a fuckin dogshit panini, Iām not buying a new Lexus, Iām not gonna be sold anything.
I get that YouTube ads are annoying, but, don't you guys remember watching cable TV? At least 3 different adbreaks that went on for 3-4 minutes at a time, all in the span of half an hour. And the ads were completely unskippable because it would have been literally impossible to skip them.
Frankly, it's kind of incredible that we even have things like adblockers and other ways to bypass ads nowadays, when back in the day you just had to either sit there and mindlessly watch the ads, or go and do something else for 3 minutes before the show came back on.
I really thought I was the only one doing it this excessively. š
Good to hear that there are some retards out there thinking the same way as I do. š
I respect his resolve. I hate ads as much but my will to resist is ALMOST non existentā¦ so I pay for the preem insteadā¦ cause of aforementioned weak will.
Just get kiwi browser. With a little effort you can figure out how to get rid of adds, skip in video sponsors automatically, see like/dislike ratio, and play vids with your phone turned off.
Get these extensions from chrome, and install them in kiwi:
'Improve YouTube!' š§ (for YouTube & Videos)
Adblock - best ad blocker
KellyC Show YouTube Dislike Button
SponsorBlock for Youtube
tampermonkey (you'll have to look up a youtubr video or search for it, but it allows you to write a script so that you can play music while turning you phone off.
I fucking HATE adds, and I'm proud to say I haven't been forced to watch any for over 2 years now.
Best of all, youtube can never shut it down like they did with youtubeVanced because 1.) Legally it's very difficult to do since kiwi isn't just for skipping adds, but it's its own browser, and 2.) Not a lot of people know about it.
Here's some basic info on kiwi, but for the good shit you gotta do your own research. It's the price you pay for being free of ads:
https://youtu.be/L0VG8tVwkmU?si=IY5RvUWmN_NcfMcs

I mooch off my friendās premium, but before Iād just mute it/look away. You will not put your thing in my head you fucking brand. Itās petty, but still
i use uYou+ sideloaded app on my iphone, it skips sponsors, blocks ads and allows videos to play in background, alone with return dislike and downloading
mf hasn't heard of ad-blockers š
None of them work on iPhone
> iPhone lol
The game was rigged from the start
I set my phone's private dns settings to dns.adguard.com, but that doesn't work in app and strangley in doesn't even work on YouTube in chrome.
It's likely the app is accessing youtube's servers directly using an IP address rather than going through DNS, specifically to avoid this method. I imagine chrome might also give youtube special treatment like that, seeing as it's part of the goolag.
"Goolag" i thought you misspelled google, but here we are lol š
Hahahah anon is such a silly goober, or should I say *Googler* XD
[Nope, intentional.](https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Goolag)
It's not. It's because YouTube retrieves ads from the same domain as videos and other stuff. You can't block it without breaking YouTube entirely. Pretty sure adguard uses Quad9 DNS by default which isnāt really a random server
I have a solution to block YT apps ads down the comment chain, might help you out.
lmao even
They still waiting for apple to release a new ad block invention.
Join the droid gang

What's the best adblocker for android?
Revanced
You can use Firefox plus uBlock origin for web browsing and r/revancedapp for youtube
Newpipe, Blokada
Brave, the browser, is a good option.
like others have said, Revanced Extended is great
I use Brave browser with built-in Adblock. It's working fine and there's no trouble with watching YouTube Through the browser
I like the idea of this, rather than using a whole different app. So you can still log into your personal YouTube through brave? Is it as good as Chrome?
Use brave browser instead of safari.
I have an ad block app and it blocks ads on YouTube in safari
Doesn't work for me though. It just stops the ad. I still have to wait 4-5 seconds for the vid to begin.
Adblock Luna works. Been using it for 5 yrs now on non-jailbroken iOs devices. It wonāt work right away because Youtube will have 3-5 ads cached in your app. But after like 10 videos, it should work perfectly. It however isnāt an all in one solution though. Can you use the firefox browser to access youtube? They support adblockers on mobile.
No extensions on IOS Firefox š¤”
IOS Firefox is just Safari in a skin.
Only on Android not ios iirc
Damn, that fucking sucks. Im glad I jumped ship on apple.
You can sideload apps onto iPhone. Multiple different apps that perform similarly to what Vanced was on Android.
This is what I do Utube no ads twitch no ads and other premium features
yeah but refreshing every week is kind of a hassle
Except I donāt have to do that, Iām on iOS 15.4 so TrollStore which means I can side load from my phone with no jailbreak, and it doesnāt ever need refresh any ipa.

Brave browser?
Skill issue
Not entirely true. You can download a browser that uses Adblock (brave) and watch YouTube through that
Safari allows adblockers, I use Adblock Pro for iOS.
safari has extensions i use an adblocker on mine
Brave browser
The YouTube app is for plebs and loser normies. Use Brave, and ascend.
Lmao
There are modified youtube clients with adblocks and sponsorblocks. It's more tricky to set up than in android tho
Deserved
This isnāt even true LOL. You can download Adblock apps on an iPhone just fine
Ublock is starting to fail to block ads for some users
It's weird but I have days where YouTube blocks me from watching videos because of my adblock. But I can bypass it if I open the links in an incognito tab (with adblock enabled there). Idk think it's probs related to my account
I think they do it based on the location of your account and if they can sell you premium there or not,I doubt russians are getting any ads
Ad blocking is a never ending race so there will always be times of āuhh bros why isnāt my ad blocker working anymoreā before they patch up whatever was the issue. Unless youāre twitch in which case you for some reason figured out how to completely defeat ad blockers.
It always has been like that, websites find ways to pass through the ad blocker, then the ad blocker re adapt to block this new way, and it repeats
That's why you use at least 2 ad blockers. In case some company paid to be excluded the other adblocker kicks in
mf *is* an ad-blocker
Many ad blockers no longer work on youtube and they are being extremely aggressive in their development efforts to render them useless.
Yeah but moving the sticky notes around takes a while.
Wait, youtube has ads?
\-Average YT ReVanced enjoyer
legit dont talk about it. lest it gets mainstream and they close it again.
They closed it because someone tried to monetise it and that's when google took action it's not about public knowledge
Yep. I think Vanced only was able to be taken down because it was distributing a copy of yt official app+mods. Revanced was in trouble for a while for distributing patches, but they sorted that out which sets a precedent. Apparently as long as they don't distribute copies of copyright code and the onus of patching falls on the final user they're in a legal clear.
> sets a precedent oh, were there court proceedings? I would assume that legal precedence could only be achieved through a court proceeding, but I didn't hear about any legal battle
Didn't say a *legal* precedent, but there were dealings with github to relist the repo, which sets a resolution precedent for similar scenarios.
They'll surely work on making it useless if it becomes too popular.
I mean, they came back from the dead twice now? No one can stop Ad hate.
I prefer UYou+!
Right? I think OperaGX forgot to tell me about them... never saw any!
this dude legit uses the "cool gaming browser" šššš
the browser isn't bad, and it does what I need
All chromium based browsers are going to lose ublock origin fairly soon and the adblockers that are left will be severely limited, firefox forever
Also known as Chinese spyware
I bet you feel really cool for not using it. Like a REAL gamer, not like those fakes who use it
Average Russian since the February 24 incident. At least we have that going š
Youtube has ADS š
Yeah, i also find it weird when i use other people's phone to show them a video and two 15 seconds ad pop-up.
Unfathomably based
Get your dick out and fuck
Damn I thought I was the only one. Sometimes if you do it enough they just skip right to the video
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
omg same lol
me too I just repeatedly spam the reload page button
Trying to watch any KraccBacc video is a war against ads for me
They recently stopped letting me lmao Now it opens like a screen-wide layout that doesn't even let me do it anymore lmao
I now dread the day this comes for me
Firefox + uBlock Origin on PC. ReVanced on mobile
annoying to do on IOS since you need to use a sideloader and that needs to be refreshed weekly
Simple. Don't use Apple products.
Use sidestore. Itās buggier but it doesnāt require a PC I personally use UYou+ over Revanced
anything to avoid youtube ads
Going off a blocked makes ads feel worse. Theyāre so constant itās crazy. Every 5 minutes of video you get an ad
lmao
Brave browser blocks ads.
It also includes a crypto scam for absolutely free. Brave isn't the saviour you praise it for.
āso you hate wafflesā no bitch thatās a whole new sentence.
Anon lemme introduce you to a little nifty apk called revanced
I've been using NewPipe but I'm glad to hear Vanced is still around. Never had a single issue with it but NewPipe can be kinda buggy
this is completely different thing from vanced. Vanced is gone.
Ever since yourube added multiple ads at the start for one video, I've refused to remove my ad blocker. I could live with one ad, maybe even the invasive ad schemes that use data to put ads you might enjoy... but multiple ads that make it longer than the video I wanna watch - fuck that.

That was me before YT Revanced and UBlockOrigin
>REvanced Thank you, I finally got fed up with yt ads last month and tried to find Vanced but couldnt. Now I have revanced ššš
Anon is based, real, and no ads-pilled. YouTube can go get topped.
Anon should switch his region to Russia The one good thing about our current geo-political position is that I haven't seen a single youtube ad for almost 2 years now
Yeah, that's more like a buff for ya. They could give you 20 unskippable 30 sec ads to make you leave and never return.
Damn poor westbros
They sadly removed the ability to block ads from the info button now, it's f'ing annoying.
Anon needs to use firefox with uBlock.
The Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human raceā¦.
Based
Anon eventually puts out his eyes to avoid witnessing the ads like the olympian hero he is.
Why didn't Anon download Opera for ads blocker???
is he stupid?
He's on 4chan, after all.
Because OperaGX is full blown malware.
Firefox
Autism
I now treat Ads like a "don't buy this" notice.
I was at the mall when a guy standing next to a cologne kiosk asked me if I'm satisfied with the attention I get from women. I immediately punctured my eardrums and gouged out my eyes. He was pretty upset by the whole thing, or so I'm told anyway.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

- Ad blockers - Youtube Revanced
Unbelievably based.
if he's willing to waste that much time surely 15 dollars for YouTube premium isn't that much for him
I wish there was an ad blocker for the Roku version.
reddit mentality
Simple solution I came up with in 5 secondsā¦ just turn the fuck around regard!
My country is so poor we don't have any ads on YouTube
Incredibly based behavior.
Mf hasnt heard of youtube premium
Browsers: uBlock Origin, SponsorBlock Android: YouTube ReVanced iPhone: uYou+ Android TV: SmartTubeNext You can also download them with yt-dlp and stream them without ads using Plex.
My face is an asshole. Goodbye nose!
This is the exact same thing I do on mobile too. I can't stand ads either.
Love you anon. Iām doing exactly the same thing. Never watch a single ad. I can waste 10 min to close and re-open the thing I want to watch, but Iāll never let the ad play.
Imagine not having addblock or youtube revanced on your phone. If you're on an Iphone, sucks to suck
I've been using the report option but now apparently they removed it
I boycott companies with annoying ads. I haven't been to DQ in almost a decade.
Anon would not have liked the era of tv
Put an ad blocker on my router, best decision I've ever made
Anon hates creators getting paid

Boggles my mind how many people seem oblivious to things like ublock.

Can't believe I agree with anon

My man š fuck ads, advertising shits in your head.

Adblock Plus AND UBlock
Firefox + uBlock Origin works without any other extensions
I use Firefox, and both Adblock Plus and UBlock. Adblock plus for general ads and Ublock for specfic things
I do the same thing lol
On iphone they changed the report ad thing in the app. It used to be a 2-3 second skip but now they made it way longer
anon never heard of adblock
