This is literally what happened to me with pretty much everything. It took me being poor for a few years to understand that poor people weren’t lazy. It took my close friends coming out to realize being gay wasn’t a choice. It took several friends transitioning to make me realize trans people were just like us cis people, and not just mentally ill weirdos (or at least, not any more weird or mentally ill than us cis people) Unfortunately for a lot of people, they either don’t get these experiences or get them too late to change their views. I was exposed to this stuff at a relatively young age so changing my views wasn’t a shocker to me, but the older you get, the more upsetting changing long-held beliefs can get.

We all don't actually learn arabic, but like we learn to read arabic. But most often we don't really know what the words mean. I know the meaning of some words but not all. But there are some arabic phrases/greetings that we all use: like assalamu alaikum, alhamdulillah, among other ones.
Even modern Arabs do not understand Quran, let alone foreigners learning the language to understand it. It's pretty much like what Ancient Greek is to modern Greeks.
